Headlight upgrade was worthless??? Mine was great, headlights are noticeable brighter and cast out very well on the roads.

and who would want XM for life, I for one wouldn't as they are one of the most shady companies out there to do business with. GM is working on the radio, as I have said earlier this is not an easy fix as you cant just replace the until with another brand or manufacture do to the integration of how it ties into the other systems. It is not backwards compatible with the 2015/16 truck systems either.

I should be hearing something in the next 4-5 weeks in regards to the new calibration, hopefully I will have some news at that time.

I may wait to see what you find out before I take my truck in. I just don't have the time to be running to the dealership for something that they probably will not know how to fix to begin with. I started another thread a couple of weeks ago where my radio presets reset on their own, still don't know what caused that.

I for one will be joining the fray to get this radio thing worked out.. HD is pretty much non-existant on mine.. My wife's mini cooper HD is on all the time. Hopefully people pick up on this.. the difference is huge when it's off..

Headlights will be on my agenda, vibration on the highway getting noticeable, Some odd paint marks(like 1/8 " pots) starting to show up. I sprayed the rust underneath. Mine hasn't been brought in to the dealer yet, only 13K... but I would like to have these issues worked out..

I know there have been varying results with the update, but well worth the effort to me (new hardware and software).

Totally agree. Mine was a mess before the software/hardware update. Night and day difference, and it's always in HD. Reception still has it's bad days, but far more good ones though. I attribute the bad not so much on the vehicle, but more on the broadcast of the signal.

I called two different dealers yesterday to get a feel for what they could do to fix my FM reception issues. The first dealer I called was my selling dealer, a small dealership in a small town that is about 50 miles from the radio station I listen to the most. Talked to the service manager and he said I am not the first to complain about it and told me to bring it in that they have been able to fix some of the trucks with the problem. I then called my local dealership which is about 7 miles away from the same radio station (where of course the signal comes in but still does not sound good) and they had not heard of such a problem but to bring it in anyway. I did stumble across this site a couple of days ago:

http://oemdtc.com/6579/poor-fm-radio-reception-2014-2015-chevrolet-silverado-gmc-sierra

Thought about printing it out and bringing with me but not sure if the information is correct.

I found that a month ago, before I found this thread. I did show it to my dealer and it didn't help. I had the latest update and they refused to replace the unit saying that "all units will be the same"

-----UPDATE-----

Ok, so these attorneys seem to be like contractors in their ability to return calls..... They don't, that is not something that I am ok with. I will be contacting a new attorney tomorrow to discuss this with him, This attorney was recommended to me by another attorney I have, I checked him out and he does appear to be good. In addition, I would like to pass along a tip I got from a lemon law attorney:

If you don't have a minimum of 3 repair attempts, don't file any claim (breach of warranty, lemon law etc.). GM will drag it out until you are out of warranty and ready to get rid of the truck. Go to your dealer and say that it has gotten worse, if it has been a certain time period of time or miles since your last visit (I don't know how long exactly) they will be obligated to check it out and you can get another documented attempt. If you attempt to file prior to having 3 documented attempts you will essentially be black balled from all GM dealers and basically never get anything done.

They also said that they are seeing more and more people who are unable to get a third repair attempt because GM is refusing. they said they have seen this before, and it is done when they don't have a diagnosis yet. SO BE AWARE, fight for yourself.

Another thing we discussed was filing other claims in small claims court, GM is legally not allowed to send attorneys there, so they have to send a rep. This way you could get a dialogue going about all of the issues and see if you can get something done out of court, as GM will NOT want to fight you in court especially with out their attorney. To do this, you would send a 30 day demand letter under chapter 93A (Massachusetts, likely different in other states) citing the costs to fix the issues, why they are liable, proof theyy are liable, under what laws/ statutes they are in violation of etc. A chapter 93A allows the plaintiff to file for double or treble (triple) damage. ie: say you paid for th upgraded all terrain tires but didn't get them, the proper tires, Bridgestone Deuller A/T RH-s will cost you lets say 1200. your claim is filed in the amount of 3600 but you offer to settle for 2600. you do this for any and all issues in a separate suit and it totals to a lot of money and opens a way for you to get a dialogue going with GM about fixing the truck.

I'm going to call another dealer tomorrow to try to get my truck in. My vibration has gotten worse especially around 43 - 54 MPH. definitely not happy with GM, but we shall see.

Good Luck Everyone

Jesse, I think the PI1288a calibration had the most effect on early 2014 builds and may have little application to your 2015. My dealer's tech mentioned to me that he updated several of them and each was a little different depending upon the hardware and software that was present. He also told me that he hadn't found anything that helped with 2015 models that he looked at. Not saying there aren't issues with 2015, just that he was able to make the most improvement on 2014s. And since mine had both hardware and software updated, it made a big difference.

I hope this helps...not sure why they said all units are the same, but then again, you just might have the latest for your year and model radio (part number). Doesn't mean it is good, just latest (still sucks).

Very true, although my truck was actually manufactured in the late summer of 14, so the hardware in my truck should be old? either way, I was an installer for home theater for a while and have a bunch of receivers, some 17 years old. and they get a better reception in my half sub-terrainian basement 30 miles away from the broadcast location than my truck does in the same city where it's broadcast from.... That should NEVER happen, GM has a lot of problems, and they just aren't fixing them.

Evening!

I have been watching this for about 5 months as I purchased a new 2014 (non-Bose) 1500 LTZ in around May. It purchased new but was a leftover 2014 the local dealer had on the lot. All is well with the truck with the exception of the HD reception. I previuosly had a 06 1500 and the reception was great!

Now that being said and I may have missed the info in these pages, how well do the new non-HD radio pick up (if anybody has one yet ) and would a non unit be a swat in/out. I just want good reception the HD is not really that important to me. I just miss stations I use to get.

Also has anybody just upgraded to a aftermarket system like a Pioneer super tuner touch screen system? I know there may be some trade offs on the current features but I don't use the Nav or some of the other things.

Sorry if this is a repeat and thanks for the site !!

The reception sucks, thats the purpose of this forum..... Allegedly it is a software issue, but the fix has yet to come about, until then. I would recommend just getting an aftermarket system. I've almost pulled the trigger on it a number of times, but haven't

My radio has issues, sometimes when I tune in a station the radio doesn't repond. and others the hd takes to long to get a signal

Any new update on when the software fix is coming out?

I sent the Chief Engineer an email last week, haven't heard back from him yet. If he doesn't respond soon I will email the infotainment engineer.
