tbarn, do you happen to know what the P/N is for replacing the radio module? This might help us with a '13 build go to dealers and let them know what needs to be fixed. Plus the update of course

My truck - 8/13 build has a radio p/n of 13591992 Another truck, build 6/14 has p/n 13592804. Mine supersedes to the later number. What anyone can extrapolate from that I don't know. part numbers change all the time and for many reasons. There ya go. Use the info as you wish.

Well I finally had my truck out on a longer drive since all of my work with the engineers. While my city reception was a lot better since the update my country reception is still lacking as well. HD was switching in and out the entire trip to my parents who are only 35 miles from me (I live in Norman OK, they live in Tecumseh OK) where on the same drive my wifes Lincoln MKX does just fine.

Still leads me to believe there is a reception issues in this system, it is a lot weaker than the previous generation trucks for sure.

TJay, did you happen to get anywhere with iBiquity and replacing the coax cable? I was reading a thread about how one of the directors said the coax cable needed to be replaced because the ends weren't coated properly and allowing interference. Davis1 mentioned that you had been in contact with iBiquity. Was this fix ever attempted?

I was never in contact with them, that was another member that did that are the beginning of the thread.

Sorry they told me they were working with another guy, when they forwarded it to Detroit office, just assumed it was you when BRuss asked me. Carry on.

No problem.

I did get an email back from the engineers. They said the new PI now has module replacement in it that will be released soon. They also said they are still working on the reception issue but gave me no time frame or what GM will do if the repair is not something the infotainment system will be able to handle or not. My guess and this is purely an assumption is GM will get it fixed for the 2015 trucks and it will be entirely new parts that wont be cross compatible and the 2014 may not end up with a fix. I hope not but based on some things the testing engineers told me I don't have high hopes.

The news that came out recently stating that 2015 GM trucks will not have HD Radio is disturbing. Leads me to believe that they have no fix for the reception issues and have instead just given up.

Thanks for the follow up, TJay! Any chance you can let us all know what the new PI number is when its released? Maybe tbarn can also help with this? At this point, some fix is better than no fix at all.

Another PI dated Aug. 7 Says if you don't like HD radio cutting out on weaker stations, turn it off. Normal

tbarn, why so negative?! :P If the engineers aren't lying to TJay, I hope not, then there should be a new PI in the next couple weeks.

Why would they release the first PI if it really didn't fix anything?

Edit: shouldn't they go out and test it first?

I will tell you in the new software update that you now have the ability to turn off the HD and it stay off. Leads me to think this is GM's answer and the details on the new PI that was just posted almost confirm it. "Customer complains of HD dropping", GM/Dealer - Tell customer it is normal and if they don't like it turn off HD.

Sad, every other manufacture has HD on their vehicles with no issues. Sounds like the lowest bidder vendor GM used for the infotainment system sucks and GM thinks this is the most cost effective answer.

I can tell you right now, if GM cant get this fixed on my truck I will push and pursue it down the road up to and including a buy back of the truck if I have to, I cant believe the corp answer is to change programming and tell the customer to deal with it. That is the whole issue that has gotten them in trouble with the ignition switches. Do the right thing, hold the vendor accountable..!!!

I have a 2014 GMC Denali and the reception is horrible. I think we all need to get together and push back at GM to do something already.

if this is fixed for the 2015 systems, wouldn't swapping the 2014 system for the 2015 system fix the problem? I would assume for the most part, that either version should work in either truck, just some different hardware installed?

Buy back, wow for the radio. Everybody thought I was "LOCO" when I mentioned a buy back for a guy that they are going to tear the motor apart and put new rings in it.

I will too. Just talking to the wife about my POS radio. I am NOT going to own this truck for X amount of years with a radio as mickey mouse as the one we're stuck with. "Don't like it turn it off", what a lame fix. This is a bunch of bulls**.That's not what we paid good money for.
