How much is the BB tune vs. Diablo tune? I went on BB.com and it was for $900?? Seems very high for a computer tune. Is it something thats plug and play? Or does it take a long time to set up the tune myself?

Its about $600 for the Autocal. You can for the most part do it yourself to get files and logs. They do the actual tuning through email. Worth the $600 and time.

Chris is correct, $599 for the AutoCal. You must have been looking at the V2 which is $899.

I did the BB EFILive Autocal for $600: http://store.blackbearperformance.com/EFILive-AutoCal-Tuning-System_p_8.html

Worth every penny.

Here is the process:

1) Order and receive the Autocal tool. 2-3 days shipping

2) Install software onto your computer that connects to the Autocal device

3) Plug device into your truck. Activate recording. Drive for 30 minutes to record your trucks shifting and details.

4) Use device to record engine and tranny config files (detailed instructions on site)

5) Email files to Blackbear along with requests (disable AFM, faster shift points, etc)

6) 2-4 business days later you will receive new tune files. Copy files to your device, plug device back into truck, and reflash the engine and tranny config (very easy)

From ordering to having your first drive with a new tune took me about 2 weeks. For $600, the change in how the tranny and engine perform in phenomenal.

Purchased a Diablo, be here in a few days. Hopefully do the trick for this rooky. Couldn't see spending the $600 beans, maybe down the road turn to BB.

I had the DiabloSport tune on my 2005 and now on my 2014 for a year now. Pretty happy with it. Not knocking BB because I've heard nothing but good about them but since you now own the DiabloSport tuner you can always save some money and get a custom DiabLew tune from Lew later on.

No worries man. It's a 2015 Sierra 1500 SLT 6.2 with Max trailering (3.42)

I'm unsure of the tuning program they used. They did my last truck and I was wicked impressed.

I tuned mine last night with the Diablo Intune and it makes a heck of a difference!!!!!!

I don't have mine yet, but did you select a specific tune for yours?

I also use the Diablo 91/flex tune. I keep AFM on, drove with it off for a month this summer and lost 1mpg. I have the throttle boost setting (I think that's what it's called) set at +6. For the transmission tune (TCM) I use the hard shift setting and I have torque management turned off. I've also been using E85 almost exclusively since I've bought the truck. Almost 20k miles on it and for a canned tune I've been happy with it, truck shifts better, more seat of the pants as they say feeling during acceleration, no complaints.

Is the Torque Management just on/off or do you get a slider? Sadly EFI Live they can't adjust it just turn it on or off. I'm curious if they are just doing the same thing EFI Live does by not letting the timing retard as much on shift. If that is the case, its pretty bad on the Tranny. I've been debating at some point possibly getting HP Tuners since you can actually adjust Tq Management.

I am also curious of this setting?

Read this whole thread, and I guess the consensus about the warranty deal is don't sweat it and just tune it. I've made my mind up to go with Black Bear's Autocal.

I was wondering if weather conditions, mainly temperature can make a difference when you do the data logging. Is there an optimum temperature range for doing this, or doesn't it matter.

    • Well that book won't sell many copies. Taking ones right foot off the loud pedal never gets applause. Funny really, It isn't that people don't know what to do...they just don't want to do it. But they will complain about it. About bad craftsmanship, about the cost of fuel, about the cost of part and repairs and mainly they complain that the solution while still possible isn't one they are willing to do.    I observe this daily. 'Gas cost to much!", they wail, while they mat it passing at 80+ mpg and scoot down the road like gas cost a dime a gallon. Then complain about the few that will lift and save both fuel and iron like they are owed and own the road.    Good thing they haven't an ounce of influence on my equipment. The rest I just laugh at. Stupid is as stupid does, right Forest?
    • Today I filled up with 4.899 gallons of fuel at a cost of $4.899 a gallon. $24 bucks. 290 miles. 59.2 mpg. After my 4% COSTCO discount just under eight cents a mile.
    • Howdy folks,   Recently I pulled a heated steering wheel and clock spring out of a 2015 Sierra All Terrain (part numbers coming soon - will have to disassemble), and just installed it on my 2016 Sierra WT (as base model as it gets).   On install, I noticed that I’m missing the connector often tucked behind the dash for the heating element.     No problem… or so I thought.   I used an “Add-A-Fuse” at my heated steering wheel fuse location, which has voltage, but no wires. I ran it to the positive of the heated steering wheel (Violet/White), and took black to ground.   Hooked up the battery, turned the truck on - no heated steering wheel. No button backlights. Was pleased to see that my cruise control was working though.   Read a post suggesting reversing polarity, so I gave it a shot. Violet and White to ground, Black to power.    Aha! Heat! But I seemingly can’t turn it off AND still no backlights on any of the buttons.    Checked all fuses, everything is still in good order. I’m stumped.   Does anyone have any insight? If so, please share!
    • I'm about 1800 miles into my last oil change, and yesterday a message appeared saying oil life was at 77%. Not sure why it popped up but I think all of these electronics could be susceptible to solar flares or somesuch. I change my oil right at 3K each time, and that was the first time in 10870 miles that message came up. Strange thing is that it showed on the screen at all since I don't drive with that sort of info displayed on the DIC.
