Quick question for all the people that have tuned with black bear. I have a cutout on my truck and I only plan on opening when it's time to go all out. I plan on getting the AutoCal so as you are driving it around while plugged in do they require you to have that open for max power because I'm sure a cutout will make a difference since it will not have to go through mufflers? I hope this makes since. I just thought I would ask here first before bugging BBP

And is there any way that they want you to drive the truck when you are plugged in. Like do they want to to drive normal, step on it, or how do you do it?

The guys have a list of things they would like to see within the instructions (ie. WOT, stop and go, 0-60). If something is missing within the log, they will let you know.

I've got in touch with one my previous tuners and I'm going to go the SCT X4 route. Mainly I'm very familiar with SCT data logging process coming from the EcoBoost.

It's gonna probably take me ~a month to get money right, but he definitely makes/made the Eco much better. He should do the same on this one.

BTW, this will be street tuned (I prefer it, IMHO I'd prefer the overall drivability than just a dyno tune).

The Blackbear datalogging process is actually extremely simple. The key is to log onto Blackbear's website and read through the documentation. Seems like some guys skim the FAQ too quickly.

I have a t1000 diablo on the way. What do you guys think the best set up would be until I get it costumed tuned? I been looking around but am a little confused from reading all the info out there.

Diablo 91/e85 tune

Thanks man. It came in today I will start learning how to use it tonight. On the 91/e85 tune what results did you see? is the "91/e85" referring to gas? Do you mess with turning off anything or any kind of shift points etc? I doubt I mess with any of these things but I am really trying to understand what the hype is about and how to benefit best from the device outside the reason I mainly bought it was to cal my speedo after I put a lift with bigger tires.

Same reason I originally bought mine was to correct the speedo for larger tires.

Yes the 91/flex (e85) tune refers to the gas octane. Use the 87/flex one for regular (87 octane) gas or if you fill up with e85 ethanol and use the 91/flex tune if you want to use premium (91 or higher octane) gas or ethanol which has an octane rating of around 100 roughly. The 91/flex tune is supposed to gain you more horsepower and torque. But you'll be paying more at the pump obviously.

You'll probably want to keep it simple at first and not try tweaking too many of the settings. I know a lot of people turn the active fuel management/DOD V4 thing off and some turn off torque management (which has been recently discussed as possibly a bad thing to turn off.

Then you'll have the transmission tune to choose from either firm or hard shift. Most seem to choose firm. Honestly I don't think the shifts are that harsh at all with the firm setting, they still feel pretty smooth to me, its not neck snapping or anything.

Good luck, have fun, don't burn off all the tread on those new rires. :-)

Do any of the non custom tunes remedy the clunky shifting? Whether it be up or downshifting?

BBP cured mine. I swear it sounds and feels like I have a clutch. You will be much happier with a custom tune.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone can chime on this issue, my truck RPM fluctuates around 50-100 RPM holding at 100km/h in cold weather (pretty much any time below 0 Celsius). Once it fluctuates enough times if I continue trying to hold the same speed (no matter up or down hill), my RPM spikes and stays around 1800rpm from 1500rpm.

It happens when engine and tranny is at temperature and also when it is cold. seems like the ambient temp is the way to reproduce the problem.

Question is, what other temperature sensor trips engine or transmission behaviour other than the engine and transmission temperature showing on my gauge clusters? because both temperature shows pretty normal when this happens and also when they are both cold. I have K&N CAI and dual exhaust, just cleaned the MAF sensor this afternoon, we will see if that helps tomorrow cold morning.

I have also cleaned and re oiled the K&N filter as per instructions from K&N, didnt help much.
