I'm 40' in the air on an oil rig right now trying to troubleshoot some automation issues, so bear with me, I'm thinking you were using HPtuners(I use both) so try this.

Mimick all my Engine/Torque Management settings in the reference tune I sent you, then adjust your Driver Demand "A" settings just like in that same tune.

Report back and let me know how it works.

I finally got around to messing with the Transmission tuning, previously we only made changes to the engine. As stated before, I was still getting a lazy throttle and the transmission was even more lazy.

Now that we have adjusted the tranny, we mimicked most of your changes, the truck pulls great! feels 100% better!!! Throttle response is right there and there is no delay for it to Down shift, seems very willing to put the power down.

We had originally made the same changes from your tune in the inertia table but the 1-2 shifts were way to hard, I was spinning my 33" mud tires in 2nd gear triggering T/C. We made some modifications there and a couple of other spots, the 1-2 shift will still "chirp" 2nd gear but is much more forgiving.

Overall I'm very happy with the results for a mild tune, drives like a completely new truck!

Thanks again for your help.

Great news... The trans and TM tuning are 80% of what makes a good tune on these trucks.

Feel free to email me any time if you need any help later on.

My dealer just claimed my stock truck was tuned, so is there a way to prove it wasn't? I have not tuned it to make sure it has a warranty. Starting to sound like I'm missing out on drivability for security they are going to lie me right out of anyways.

Anybody with a Diablo intune have a hesitation in the shift from 1-2? I have 87 tune installed and firm shifts. When it shifts from 1st to 2nd, there is a slight delay. Hard to explain. I will get a diablew tune at some point, but would like to fix this issue if it's possible before I have Lew get his hands on it.

I'm using the 91 tune with hard shift and tried paying attention today on my way home. Didn't notice any difference compared to the other gear shifts. When do you notice, part throttle, medium acceleration, or wide open hard acceleration?

Well I originally had the tune set on 87 and didn't modify any of the parameters. I noticed it at medium acceleration. If I was soft on it or hard it shifted fine. I did however fill up with 93 today and changed the tune to the high performance tune. I added +5 to shift pressure 1-2 and bumped up the shift rpm's by 100 and all seems to be good now. Shifts like butter. Very pleased now

Ah, medium, my least used acceleration. Haha. I'm either savin gas or wasting it. Glad to hear it's shifting better. So does adding to the shift pressure make it more like the hard shift vs the firm shift?

Well for my driving style, its very rare that I'm light on the throttle. I may be wrong, but from what I've experienced adding shift pressure helps it shift into gear a little firmer. It doesn't feel hard or unreasonable at all. I think for some reason, the parameters on my device, even with the settings set to firm shift, were a little soft for 1-2 shift. Adding shift pressure and increasing RPM's per gear seem to help tremendously.

Not that this matters, but I haven't noticed any increase in MPG with the tune yet. Actually pretty much the opposite. It seems that ever since I installed my tune, I cant keep my foot off the floor lol. I'm sure if I give it some time my foot will lighten up. I love driving my truck again.

This is why I decided to go with a custom tune vs just a tuner. I read the same issue Kerrslight is having a dozen times over on the engine tuning thread, enough to convince me the Diablo tuners are not as "plug and play" as they advertise. Hope Lew is able to clean up your tune and get you fixed up.

I know blackbear is hands down probably the better way to go. I had a guy here in Houston do an in person tune on my last truck and that was equivalent to blackbear and it was phenomenal. My reasoning for going Diablo this time around is I like the ease of changing back to stock or changing my parameters. I knew going into it, it wouldn't be as good as an all out custom tune, but due to the price point it just made sense for me at the time. All is well now as far as shifts go, but I'm sure I will go the Diablew route at some point. I've heard great things from what he does so I'm sure if the canned tune doesn't work out for me, a custom Diablew will straighten things out for me.

    • I went through again with a test light and everything checked out.    I suppose it could be the MAF itself but I've tried 3 different sensors, 2 of which were in running vehicles previously (the one in this truck, and the one in the donor truck), as well as a new one I picked up from NAPA. I would just be surprised if all 3 were bad.   EDIT/UPDATE: I swapped in the MAP sensor that was originally with the 2010 PCM, that made the code for map sensor voltage high Go away, and the map sensor seems to read normal with key on engine off (14psi or so), but it still doesn't run and does the same thing as before.
    • In addition to a cell or wifi connection, the infotainment needs to be enabled to download software updates. That's a toggle within the system settings.   But...if the truck was prevented from receiving updates in a past life, missing a bunch of updates may mean it won't go back and download all of those because they're not available or the system is too far out of date.   If a formal recall depends on a software update, the recall for that truck remains in an open status until it's applied. The dealer would need to apply the software update in that instance.   Most updates downloaded and applied via the infotainment aren't recalls/safety recalls, they're enhancements and usability fixes which aren't critical.
    • Recently I've been getting a message, "New Brake Pads Detected. Reset Brake Pad Life?", But I haven't had the pads replaced and the truck only has 28,000 miles. The Brake Pad Life shows Front 64% and Rear 79%. I select NO to resetting the brake pad life and the message goes away but comes back at the nest restart.   I stopped by the dealer and was told that it sounds like a software glitch that would require reprogramming. Even though I have the extended warranty, they tell me that reprogramming is not covered unless a module was actually bad and needed to be replaced. Simply reprogramming is not covered. So, they want $200.00 just to diagnose the problem. If it turns out no bad module, another charge on top of that to do the reprogramming. If the cause was an actual bad module, everything would be covered under the warranty.   Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Should this issue be covered under the warranty?   Thanks
    • NHT is diesel only, correct.     The GVWRs for NHT on 3/4 ton bring them to the same numbers as many of the 2WD 1 tons.  A crew 4x4 standard 3/4 with NHT is 11,750lbs, a 1 ton same cab/box/4x4 is 12,100lbs.     Hubs and hub bearings are the same for 11.5" and 12" axles.  Housing, diff carrier and ring/pinion are larger for the 12".   All gas use the 11.5" axle, 3/4, 1 ton and 1 ton DRW.
