Nitto Terra Grapplers or Trail Grapplers?

I have run the trails on 3 vehicles. They are relatively quiet, wear great and clean out good on just about everything but sticky clay; no experience with the snow here in LA. Only down side is the weight, they are heavy tires and will hit you on the gas mileage. I lost at least 3 mpg on every set i have run. I haven't run the size you are referring to so i cant really speak for those mileage wise.

Recently seen a truck in town with the Nitto trail grapplers on a 2014 Silverado and they looked sweet. The owner wasn't around so I never got a chance to ask him about them.. They looked like they would kick ass anywhere off road but may not do so well in the fuel milage department.. I've also heard of Nitto Terra grapplers that are supposed to have a less aggressive deep tread but are designed with highway driving in mind.. Any ideas or suggestions from people who have them?

 

I have a 2014 Sierra All Terrain that didn't come with all terriain tires which sucks.

 

Anyone have either of these tires? If so, just a couple questions please...

- how is your fuel mileage since you changed tires?

- how is the road noise?

- and most importantly how is the handling/feel?

- and lastly approx how much per tire?

 

Sorry for all the questions but I have an appointment for this Tuesday with a tire shop who has quoted me $260 per tire balanced/nitrogen filled/installed. Im in Canada by the way, do you think that's too much?

Tire size is 275/55R/20. Can/should I go with a bigger tire?

 

Enough of the questions, I know but I seriously do appreciate any insight or recommendations any of you can offer.. I thank you in advance, much appreciated...

I have an all terrain as well and got a set of trail grapplers and love them. They are surprisingly quiet for how aggressive they are IMO. I paid 340 each for my 295/55/20 so I'd say that prolly ain't a bad deal!

I had a friend that had the Terra Graplers. they looked good, went well in the snow but didn't last very long. He only got 12-15K miles out of them..On the other hand, I have herd nothing but good things about the Cooper AT3's. I just ordered a set my self

I have the Nitto Grappler on both of my 14 Silverado 4x4 trucks. No MPG loss at all. They are very quiet and ride and handle great. No vibration and great traction in the wet stuff. Got to try them out on ice and snow a couple of times here in the Ft. Worth area this season. I had them on a Ford F150 King Ranch 4x4 that I bought new in 08. I traded the King Ranch for a 2010 Silverado LTZ 4x4 but after 20,000 miles they showed no wear at all on the King Ranch.

I have the Trials and will be going with those or BFG A/T's when I lift the truck in a few weeks
