I was told that the 33x12.50x20 would rub so I went ahead and got the 295 55 20 toyo mt's and I do have a pro comp 2.5 level

Many 295/55R20's have and overall diameter closer to a 33x12.5 R20. My 33x12.5's are also stamped in fine print 295/55R20 and they rub just barely on the sway bar with the same wheels as you. I was told the Toyo is also branded often as a 33x12.5. Not sure on the reason. Measure your tread width, I bet its larger than 295mm.

Hey guys, picked up my truck about 2 months ago and have been doing a few things to it. First thing I did was remove the boards, tint and added the Z71 emblems. I've also added a 2.5" RC Level and 33x12.50r20 Toyo MT. Lovin' it so far.

Beauty! Is that the short box bed or standard box? Great looking truck

Looks sharp!

Thanks so much!!! My first 2 vehicles were pickups but have spent the past few years in Wranglers and a 4Runner. It feels so good to be back in a truck!!!

Looks amazing man. Wanting my '16 to look like this. How are the ball joints and everything holding up? what about ride quality? seems like everyone says 2 - 2.5 in the front is the sweet spot. Looks damn good to me.

What gears do you have? 3.42 or 3.73? Do you feel you need to regear to keep the power or is 33 not a big enough jump to warrant different gears? I've heard with 35's you'll want to go to a 4.11 setup so I'm curious about the 33's. Also worth reprogramming the speedo or not enough of a difference to bother?

I can't comment per se, as I have yet to add bigger tires myself (although I am lifted 2.1" from bilsteins + 1" extra in rear), but I do not see gearing an issue w/ 35" tires either way w/ the 5.3 or 6.2 trucks as long as you dont have a 6 speed 5.3 w/ 3.08 rear. If its a 6 speed w/ 3.42 I'm sure it'll feel sluggish but not horrible, and I bet w/ 3.73's is just fine, I would think $$$$ wise you'd be better offsetting the drop in pickup by getting a custom dyno tune as that will help power, shift points, and should add to MPG's while a gear swap is huge $$$, you void warranty (not that it matters @ that point), you'll still need a tune, while it'll have more pickup forget about ever getting decent mileage ever again.

Keep in mind these are DI engines w/ alot of performance tuned down to help GM w/ safety & cafe requirements - you will notice BIG difference w/ just a tune, not to mention you're talking 4.10's like this is 1995 and we're dealing w/ 4 speed trucks - you have way more power in the trucks now + 6, 8, 10 speed trannies - throw out your old preconceptions about what gears you need. If it were me I'd spend that kinda dough on a good tune & some nice stainless headers.

Other strategy to offset mpg/performance drop from heavier tires other than power adders/tune/gears is trying to pair the heavy AT/MT tires w/ a lighter and/or smaller diameter wheel. Stock wheels are damn heavy.

I have 35's on mine with a 5.3 and 3.42's and the guy that installed my lift and tires thought it was a 6.2 cuz it pulled them so well. I think 4.11's would be good if someone wanted 37's

does anyone run this setup with the gm molded splash guards? I am Looking to go 2.5" with Toyo 33x12.5R20 on my new truck and don't want them to hit my painted splash guards.

Used this post as a blueprint for my Chevy. Found some factory GMC wheels on Craigslist, went with the RC 2.4" X 2", and Nitto Ridge Grapplers 33X12.5X20. Rides great, and rubs at full crank of the wheel as expected. Has anyone here has used a programmer to compensate for the larger rolling diameter? Whats a good programmer?

Nice truck. What tire pressures are you running?

Also has anyone used a programmer?

    • Because that is IDIOTIC, much like this question. They've already been forced to do it by past administrations - why would you roll that back when it's a GOOD thing?  WHO IS ARGUING FOR LOWER MILEAGE???? 😂  NOBODY IS!!   I'm certainly not! What I want is RELIABLE vehicles again that are worth the price paid!    I don't get your logic here ...   In 2003 I paid $2,200 for our '86 Grand Marquis. It's STILL running and I've never been inside the engine, aside for the timing cover since it was leaking, so I threw a new timing set in since that makes sense. Transmission is ORIGINAL. Electric pump in the gas tank is ORIGINAL. Rear end is ORIGINAL. I'd have to hit my head REAL hard to want to pay $60k or more for a car that still can't come close to the comfort, seating and storage space, or reliability of this one. Nothing is even in the ball park! Hundreds of thousands of brands and models have been built and sent to the crusher while this one keeps on going!   https://postimg.cc/Z9XRrCSg   I've got a whole fleet of cars, motorcycles, and a truck close to this age for summer and winter. No one could pay me enough to buy anything built this century. I have zero use for any it.
    • Since I'm the one who has to fix them when they break, I'll take vehicles over 30 years old all day, EVERY day, over ANY modern crap. Have you attempted any repairs on anything built after 2006? It's a friggin nightmare, and gets worse the newer the model year.    If I had the will or desire, I can make any car of any age outside of a Model T (I don't have THAT much will ...) just as powerful, comfortable, and have all the tech the new stuff does, and get pretty close in mileage, too. I prefer SIMPLICITY. The less the vehicle has, the less to fix WHEN it breaks, not IF.   I'm glad you snot-nosed punks don't like them. More for us, plus that keeps the prices from climbing more than they already have.👍
    • Bringing this thread back on topic. I just noticed the incredible lack of bright chrome across the entire new lineup. Even the Denali has tinted the brightwork in the grille and has none elsewhere. None of them have chrome bumpers. As far as I can tell there aren't even chrome mirror caps. I'm curious if this also happens out back? Are there no chrome rear bumpers either? This is quite the departure for GMC.
