Condensation from AC? That's absolutely ridiculous. The AC drips down from the front in the engine bay, not over your rear diff. To confirm, touch it after been running, if it's greasy feeling, it's fluid...hence leak, if not then MAYBE condensation....I think not!. Take the truck to another dealer that actually wants to work on a vehicle and not pass the buck.

Yes, it looks like a pinion oil seal leak. (maybe your A/C drip tube is 10 ft long and it drips oil instead of water?)

Looks like a leaking pinion seal to me.

And it sounds like your service adviser is just feeding you a line to get you out of his hair. If it was me I would call the dealer owner and state to them that his service adviser just lost them a customer for life, let the owner of the dealer chew on that some and then find a dealer who actually cares about the customer!

To many Chevy dealers around to have to deal with the bad ones, it's clear they want nothing to do with you if that truly is the excuse used, not even the slightest chance that is condensation, and clearly looks like it's weeping a bit as those seals do fail, even if newer!

I'd definitely get that report of "AC Condensation" added to your records so if they continue to blow you off you can push the issue up and show how idiotic this dealership deals with problems.

I am not sure it's A/C condensation, most likely isn't but doesn't look like pinion seal leakage to me either. If ya got a sec snap a few more pics of it from the other side and maybe underneath

Put something under it and check your fluid. you be surprised how far one drop of oil can spread. If there is a bad leak there would be spots all over your tailgate, from the air flow of your truck. If there is a big change in temperature sometime seals can leak a little.

That's a diff leak if I ever saw one. Even if its small. If it were "condensation" it'd dry out.

If my 2014 was doin that I'd have it at the dealer right now.

that being said, if you've ever seen a truck with some age on it, this is quite normal for GM rearends to leak like this over.. a 20-40 year period. Quite honestly a lot of times this mess protects from rust  but on a truck that isn't 10 years old? Unacceptable.

Hi 2014Sierra2014,

I understand you're reaching out for insight regarding a possible pinion leak in your new Sierra. I'd be happy to contact to your dealership and look into this further on your behalf. Please feel free to send a PM if interested. If you're unable to send a PM, I can also be reached via email at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Eddie A.

I took my truck in on Wednesday for a intermittent no start, frame rust and the pinion leak. They called Monday morning and told me they found nothing on the on start, the rust isn’t bad enough to worry about and the leak was from the A/C. I told them you might want to have someone else look at the leak because I wasn’t buying that. Then asked about the TSB for the frame rust. He then said that they wasn’t done with it yet. He was just calling to let me know how it was going. I guess they have to call and see how stupid you are before they actually fix your vehicle. It is now Tuesday and I haven’t heard back yet. Today is now 32 business days in the shop since I bought it in March.

Thanks for the input.

The only way GM will not to check the dealers is to nail the dealers on the service work review you get. If they do a crappy job then give them crappy reviews.
