Why was this Cadillac ELR so lonely at the Boston Car Show?

Despite having one of the best looks of any GM product, the newish Cadillac ELR was never in danger of being over-run by journalists at this week's Boston Auto Show Press Day. Sadly, neither was the all-new Volt, which by the way looks exactly like a Chevy Cruze. The ELR has a great spot in the Cadillac area too, very close to the Lexus display.

Do you think the ELR's 65,000 MSRP starting price that holds this green car back? It can't be the looks or performance. It's no Tesla Model S, but it costs about half what the good Model S cars sell for. Are there any ELR owners or fans here at GM=Trucks.com that can defend the ELR and tell us its upside?

No one but the most dedicated green types have any interest in fuel efficiency now that fuel is cheap. People have short memories, which is why trucks and SUVs sell so well now. It's a good looking car but it's still a tough sell. The old one got off to a rough start with that commercial for it seeming to get more (negative, sadly) press than the car itself as the whole American exceptionalism thing got a lot of people butthurt. I personally liked the ad. I only remember seeing one ELR not wearing M plates and that was sitting at a charging station at Detroit airport. Even the last generation was nice looking but the reality is the coupe (aside from things like the Camaro) is pretty much a dead market. I have to imagine expensive hybrid coupes are an even harder sell.
