Nope, they do not.  But The service reps do have to have to develop a thick skin.  The best ones though will tell you it how it is and be genuine with their efforts to try to help you.

In my experiences with the dealers . And I’ve been to many so far with my Sierra . They all say the same thing . Sorry not much more we can do. The transmissions are like that they say. States have a class action on the issues . Don’t know why here in Canada we don’t . When you tell the dealer service guys about the issue being well documented all over the net. They say oh sir don’t believe what you read on the net. Lol

HERE WE GO!!! My dealership had a solution for my clunky 8 speed transmission. "why not trade it in we have a 10 speed now" LOL LOL LOL . whith all the problems with the 8 speed someone would have to be nuts to pick up a truck with a 10 speed. And look Problems are already begining. Soon there will be a bible of threads about this Transmission.

Well the 10 speed is at least better than the 8 speed. My 10 speed can give a jerky shift from time to time, the 8 speed however can just be totally erratic for no reason. Some people have said shifting has improved with the addition of the new oil.

I think it 8 speed was just engineered bad from the start, the 10 speed has alot of similar problems Ford is being sued already.

they replaced your 10 speed trans?

Yup! They couldn't fix the leak. They replaced seals and it continued leaking. Replaced with a brand new one.

Must have been a bad casting then.

Trans shudder is because the OEM fluid is no good and won't last, Mobil 1 has had to reinvent their Dexron HP.  Bean counter spec's.  If the dealer can't solve it, he is incompetent IMO and a great many are.

Dealer can't just replace a trans (or engine for that matter) on a whim, they have to get approval by the zone rep. If they let every dealer willy nilly replace expensive parts without conformation of the problem they would take the easy way out.  They should have put you in a new loaner or rental and pick up the tab.   Case in point, someone I know had a issue with the 4wd system in his 2012 Silverado. They did several things to it and nothing seemed better.  So after much pissing and moaning the dealer caved in and order a new transfer case the customer diagnosed as the problem and insisted they replace. Guess what, same thing.  It was the !@#$%^& tires he put on it but he would not accept that reason.  They put tires and wheels from a good used truck on lot and it rode 100% better, still would accept that and blames it all on GM.

I worked as a service adviser several years ago at a dealership,  and unfortunately this happens a lot more than anybody realizes.  I guess the old saying is true,  1 bad apple....

The 10spd transmission was co-developed by Ford and GM.

I have the 10 spd on a LT TB.  It has 1000 miles and I have it in for a leak.  I think it was leaking since day 1.  I had the dealer undercoat the truck and you can see where the undercoating didn't stick to a frame member under the trans because it had fluid on it.

Haven't been able to find much online about these 10 speeds leaking.  Where was your leaking and how bad?
