I have been checking mine every rain. Everything from mist to heavy rain. No leaks. I have the longer cab. It seems these are all the shorter crew cab. Is that correct? Maybe a difference in how they flex?

167 pages of leaks and you think they've all been double cabs so far?

If you switched to a solid window from a slider is it still a possibility to have rear defrost? Safelite shows it would be around $400 to have a tinted solid window with defrost installed. I would imagine all would be needed is to pull the fuse for the slider function to not work.

Lower trims are available with a fixed rear window and a defroster.

Which is the “longer cab” over the crew cab?

I too researched this option with Safelite and wanted to confirm this as well.

The only thing I am not sure about is the spoiler. The dealer said the bolts that hold the spoiler on are one-time use. they have some type of gasket or sealer on them and can't be re-used. It took a week for them to get these in from GM. I am wondering if a place like Safelite would have those bolts or similar challenges.

I saw it said that was the case somewhere else. I can't remember where. That's why I am asking here. But i don't think mine leaks yet. It's got about 3000 miles about half towing a 30 foot travel trailer.

Well, I'd say I don't agree with the dealer.  It is true the bolts have a new part number and they are now black as oppose to the grey metal color.  These new bolts go on the 4 corners of the spoiler.

It may be that these bolts are one time use, I used them again and they weren't the cause of my leak.  But I will say it is the nuts that meet the 8 other bolts around the middle section of the spoiler are more likely one time use.  The white gasket or sealer is on the nut, not on the bolt.  When I removed the original nuts, the white gasket was completely dried out and fell apart.

In fact, none of the bolts have a gasket.  Only the nut side does.

I know.  Because I took the headliner down, water tested to find the root cause of my leak, removed the spoiler, replaced the nuts with the gaskets, all 8 of them.

Ok I was mistaken. I thought the double cab was the bigger one but it looks like the crew cab is. And that's what I have. For some reason I thought what I have is called the double cab. Because it's the bigger one.

How does the rear defrost get power? Is there tow separate harnesses? One for the slider and another for the rear defrost? Spoiler appears to be the same regardless of which window you have.

Defroster has 4 connectors (it seems).  Two in the middle of each side and two smaller ones on the bottom of each side.  Took a pic of one side only, top and bottom.  The slider has one black with white swirl line coming out of the motor assembly at the bottom behind the driver side rear seat.  I don't know if you have to remove the rear bench to get to the connector as I was not able to follow the line down.

Update:

Wife took the truck out of town and it sat out in the rain. I told her to check and look for a leak, she forgot...... I checked it out after she got home. No evidence of water getting in the cab. I will park the truck out in the next rain and check again.

And now we shall see. After talking with GMC through email and on the phone and setting up with them I finally took my AT4 in to have the leak "looked at". Not great feeling in the gut right now... talked with the service manager and he said he never heard of them cracking and that it's usually the third brake light... oh boy... told him I was very nervous about this and told him some of the horror stories from this thread.... I'll update as soon as I hear.... UGH!

Well, just picked it up and they said my seal is leaking. They have to replace the entire window and shocker!, it’s on back order. No clue how long it will take to get in so I picked up my truck and will bring it back when it does. They also lightly scratched the plastic on the pillar so I brought out the service guy and showed him and he said that’s unacceptable so he made a note and signed it that it gets taken care of when they replace the window.... this is gonna suck!

They lied to you three times. They do know about the issue, they know it isn't the spoiler, and then they told you it was the seal when in fact the frame is cracked like all the others.

I’m surprised they are even replacing the window. Thought they had to dick you around with the caulk-job first.

Mine went to the dealer 3 times for a fix. They tried all the steps GM recommended to no avail. I got some seam sealant and applied it to the window frame and bolt holes. The leak is reduced, but not entirely gone in heavy rains when stationary. My next plan is to apply some all across the body seam that is located beneath the spoiler but above the bolt holes. We will see if that helps.

    • Hello hello looking forward to expanding my knowledge of the 2026 2500 HD that I just bought.   Truck has 3500 miles on it four-wheel-drive crew cab and I’m about to put a 6 1/2 inch BDS lift on it 18 x 10 -25 offset with 37’s   Already have the wheels and tires just waiting on the lift install in about three weeks   Question what surprises am I not gonna be happy with?  I’m not new to lifted trucks so I know that acceleration towing gas mileage all that is affected..   Question is those of you that have this truck this powertrain with a 10 speed Allison and have done the mods that I’m doing,,, how bad is it? Is that Allison constantly gonna be hunting for the right gear to go into? And what about towing, acceleration, fuel consumption as mentioned?    Lastly how come I can’t find any ring pinion gear set up for these axles and when could I expect to see them?   I apologize if there’s any typos I’m doing speech to text on my iPhone.
    • I've got a 2013 2500 6.0L Flexfuel. Drove the truck earlier today with no issues. Went to run an errand tonight and noticed key fob wouldn't work. Figured battery was dead, so replaced fob batter. Still wasn't working. Grabbed my other set of keys with the other fob and that one wasn't working either. So I manually unlock truck and insert key. Interior lights come on, dashboard lights up, turn key and truck starts. Turn truck off, like a moron, and try starting again. This time no crank, no click, no nothing. Lights still come on and dash lights up, but now I'm getting a service 4wheel drive, service tire monitor, etc. Check voltage on battery and Im showing 12.2v. Throw my battery charger on it and give it 15 mins and try starting again. But still no crank no start. Decide maybe its a bad battery, run to autozone grab a new one and put it in. Same issue. Disconnect battery and let it sit for 15 mins. Try again and still nothing. I had managed to roll the windows down earlier as its a humid night, but now I can't get them to roll up. Power locks are also not working now. Then randomly I try the key again, and it fires right up. Immediately I roll up the windows as we have nothing but rain forecast this week. I shut it back off wait 30 seconds and start up again. Worked a 2nd time. So turn it off, start putting things back together. Try one more time, and back to no crank no start. And now the car alarm starts going off. Had to disconnect battery and leave it that way for the night as I don't think my neighbors would appreciate my alarm going off again tonight. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
    • No one will care for you like you care for you. Do what you can for as long as you can. IMHO of course.
    • How about them NICKS!!!
    • Hi there.  Long time lurker, first post.    i have read the previous posts regarding the water ingress problem with this emblem.  I bought my 1500 SLT the  summer of 2025 new and after reading the MANY problems with these emblems failing I decided to install one anyways.  As per a YouTube video, I sealed ( or tried to) this sign with silicone sealant around the outer perimeter joint and the holes that were already somewhat sealed on the rear plate of the emblem.  And installed the connector assembly using dielectric grease on the connectors. The installation looked great and worked well for about 4 months……then FAILURE.  Grrrrrr…… I live in the great white north and wash my truck weekly in an automatic car wash  to keep the salt off.  Let me tell you that removing the old, failed emblem is a whole different animal than removing the OEM individual letters without removing the grill assembly. Mainly because the illuminated logo is built differently than the original letters which  you can remove the red surface lettering with a knife or some kind of blade which gives access to the tabs which hold the logo onto the grill. So I had to essentially destroyed the old emblem to remove it. Doing so killed my chance of doing somekind of autopsy on the failed , old logo.  But there was plenty of water inside when I ripped it apart.  Prior to installing the new assembly I tried it with the old harness and it works fine.   Does anyone have any insight as to where the water is getting into this emblem? I intend to seal the new logo with slow curing epoxy this time around using a syringe.  I think this newer emblem may be an updated unit which I hope GM got the vendor to fix. It has an October 2025 date on it.    If this one  fails,  I am just going to revert back to the non-illuminated letters….AFTER PULLING THE GRILL.    Any thoughts on sealing with epoxy would be appreciated. Thx!   Doug
