The point is not the percentage of how many trucks are the ones with the Vibration issue....the fact is that my stupid truck that cost nearly 49k has the problem. So is my money and bothers me a lot, I'm sure the ones sharing that same problem are irritated with that comment of yours saying "that's not a large amount of trucks out there with the vibration issue"

True. I suppose the other benefit would have been that we'd have more concrete counts of those with the issue. Would we get further with GM if we were to report 1,000 unique VINs that vibrated?

I already have a list started for my lawsuit. ill start another strictly for vins.

 

They'll all come up as Monday, Friday, or overtime builds [emoji23][emoji23]

Well I drove 5 different ones and every one of them had it to some extent so we will have to agree to disagree on that statement. THis isn't the only truck forum where this is being discussed. And I can't help but wonder how many have it and don't even know it as they don't drive highway miles.

I believe GM is very well aware of this problem, they just will not acknowledge it. (Within the 800,000 plus hits on this site, there are indeed hits from GM Customer Service.). The canned response appears to be, "it's normal", even though thier marketing and advertising say the Denali rides like a luxury car. In my case, the BBB arbitrator acknowledged the vibration when the GM Engineer would not. I would suggest that until vibration is defined in technical terms, with a specification limit, and it can be shown that limit is exceeded, there will be no case and no fix.

There will not be a fix for this problem for those who have it. There is just not enough trucks with vibrations out there for GM to even worry about it. Yeah, your truck may have cost $50k (mine was just $30K) but that doesn't mean squat. The only solution for a fix if tire balancing, new rear end, drive shaft ect. doesn't work is to trade for a different truck from a different company and be done with it.

Just purchased a 2015 Silverado CC SB 5.3 LT. Its smooth with no vibrations. I guess I got lucky.

I thought the same thing when I first bought mine ,Unfortunately they all don't do it from the beginning and develope the vibration later . Mine didn't start doing it for a few months,others longer . Mine also started getting worse as time went on .

Anybody knows the "fixes" that GM is doing? Because there's a few guys and honestly can't get back after 460 pages to find them, but seems like a few owners got something fixed up. I'm just wonder which ones are those.....so far after 3 sets of tires and road force balances, my dealership directed by GM are finally changing. the driveshaft, U-Joints and now they told me the differential gears or bearings will be replaced too. I haven't been able to drive it yet because is at the shop still and the service Manager with a GM Engineer want to drive it around on Monday. So that's my Timeliness and fixes, so far.

Lol, yeap I drive all over in Arizona. My company pays for it, gas, insurance, etc. But sucks the fact that is a brand new truck, you know? And all these issues, but I've been noticing that 2500HD and 3500HD aren't that bad of cases or issues like we do with the 1500 trim. So probably next year, I'll switch it for a 2500 HD Turbo Diesel truck. But first I'll drive test every single truck out there, lol.

I got mine back last night, the vibe that is. Just when I was thinking of putting wheels and tires on her it started back up, this time instead of 76 it's now real prominent around 78-79, uggg what to do, what to do...

Hello all,

 

I've been fighting with this for a year. Tire road force helped dramatically. Dealer went thru 9 new tires before they could get the RF to spec.. I have the rally 22" rims which I consider a misapplication. I'm currently looking for 18" rims.

 

Recommendation: Check your transmission fluid. I'm convinced my problem is torque converter shutter. My fuild is stained and I get brown, black contamination of the dipstick. TC clutch is not fully engaging at certain speeds and the TC clutch plates are wearing out. Most when cold. Run 60-70 miles and I think the heat makes it run better. Hooked up my snowmobile trailer last week and the shake/vibe was 6X worse. That made me start thinking transmission. My problem 100% load/torque dependent.

 

Shake/vib/ shutter at 60-75 mph and 30-40mph. At 75mph and above, the TC locks and it runs smooth as glass. When the TC is not locked the TC shutter makes the engine flutter in the mounts resulting in vibe/shake.. Engine shake transmits thru the engine mounts and is whats felt due to the TC shutter.

 

I have a GM complaint and I'm taking it in next week for my 6-7 dealer visit.

 

Think about it. GM wanted to beat the comp and advertise the highest MPG 1/2 ton. They programmed the transmission shift points all wrong. Then tried to fix it with an 8 speed transmission. The 8 speed has a TSB for the torque converter problem/fix.

 

Second thing they did wrong was try to make the truck cool looking.. 20 & 22" wheels!! Never had an issue with the 17" rims and RF balance for years. Low profile tires create RF balance issues. Only long term solution is to have more side wall and smaller diameter rims

Cheaply made low profile tires create RF balance issues. The problem here is that GM wanted that big tire look, but at a cheap price. And that backfired badly. Another problem is that low profile tires do not belong on pickup trucks, unless they are used for show only. Low profile large tires on trucks are not practical, they expose rims to easy damage from potholes, and are downright useless for off-roading. And large diameter low profile tires are difficult to balance properly and usually special adaptors are required, which many tire shops and GM dealerships either do not have or choose not to use. Go to a Mercedes and BMW dealer to see how they balance low profile large wheels.

 

Unfortunately, pickup trucks have been converted into luxury car substitutes to appeal to those who never intend to use them as trucks. GM has deleted drain plugs on radiators and rear differential, but illuminated vanity mirrors are now standard equipment on LT trim trucks? Just who are these trucks designed for? And this creates a whole new market for grossly overpriced vehicles loaded with cheap shiny gadgets, opulent looking (but cheaply made) interiors, and huge out of round tires mounted on crappy Chinese made rims. What's not to like when you are a truck manufacturer and people are willing to pay close to $60k for a half ton Mexican made pickup?

Well, is the GM problem alone. Why? Because first I'm Mexican, I used to work in a manufacturing plant for FORD parts "Electrical Front Harness" and they're having problems with that a few years ago. Why? Because everything was made according to their "SPECS", so a local Mexican Engineer solved the problems after thousands of complaints. He made the small wires gauges a little bigger to hold more "power" and stopped having those weird burning smells after 5 hrs of driving. So don't blame it on Mexican plants. The Silao Plant in Mexico, is huge, clean and have tops engineers. My brother works for the OAKLEY manufacturer plant and he said 85% of English is required before they even look at your resume, bow he speaks, writes and read 100% after one year. He also said to have an interview with the GM Silao Plant is a nightmare of tests and not everyone can make it. Well I guess the main point here, is a wrong and poor american design and specs to a certain level here; trying to make a "work truck" into a luxury ride. The endeavor was huge and probably GM didn't fitted well some driveline components somewhere and chances are that they know these but unable to fix them because of the costs. But hey Nissan and Honda had the balls to recall hundreds of thousands of cars, to fix their problems 2-3 years ago; right? So GM needs to ask the Asians for some good engineers as "loaners" like the one I'm driving today because they can't figure out what's wrong with their trucks, probably they can fix'em for them.

    • I agree. That`s a LOT of sludge for 12,000 miles. I tossed that out here since this is an OCI thread. There`s tons of people here that do not post.   I used to work on a city fleet. That includes police cars and fire trucks. Lesson is, not to only use the odo for oci. A police car has a ton of hours on the engine for the miles it shows. And, not just idling, directing traffic. They beat on these things.   Course, since it is a Kia, they were gonna use the "100,000 mile warranty" for their OCI.😉
    • CLASS ACTION SUITS?  Does anyone know if there is already a class action suit for the paint - which was to have been fixed, changed in after the 2020 GM vehicles?  Does it look like this?    Just started 3 weeks ago - No help from GM as of yet - Dealer will not assist in speaking with GM on my behalf. Confirmed it is the paint they use along with the way the put it on that causes it to fail.  Clearly a Manufacturer's Defect. 
    • That dog don't hunt. 😏   First, a 2025 with 12K on the clock AND idled for a year nonstop is false on it's face; this is 2026. You can do one or the other but not both.    Second, ENGINE HOURS are absolutely available. The rest is third grade math. Micky Mouse scanner he got out of a box of Cracker Jacks OR an ID10T error.    Third, if they ran it out of oil "Several times" that motor is boned on the first hit.    Does this guy think piling higher makes it stink less? 
    • That's interesting, I assume that would add to the cost of the oil but also I was forgetting to bring up the issue of the low tension rings allowing more oil past which in turn forces the cats to have more oil additives pass through them that wouldn't otherwise so they are creating that problem and of course its all in the name of fuel economy. Mind you the other issue would be the lack of additives that fight the formation of carbon within the piston ring grooves which turn the engine into an oil burner and with in this GM forums case is your average off the shelf Dexos licensed oil, meanwhile the other off the shelf oil being Valvoline's R&P isn't licensed and the only one that is which is that certain Mobil oil that came out recently ( its not even being marketed in Canada ) and only a fraction of vehicle owners are going to be using it out of all the other oils on the shelf or the quickie lube bay that meet the Dexos spec by way of actual licensing.    Also I suspect that its an easy excuse to pool the non turbo DI engines in with the turbo DI engines and design the oil to not have LSPI issues in the most demanding engines and short change the naturally aspirated DI by not offering a higher concentration of additive package they could handle and still not be at risk of LSPI.    I wonder if Amsoil flipped the switch just lately and did whatever packaging designation at the same time as I wonder what oil formulation I would have bought in May, of course I don't know when it was packaged at the factory vs how long it was in storage at the Edmonton warehouse. I know its been said at least in the past that the big players switch over to a reformulated oil but the packaging has not changed until they make that move as well so there is that cross over time where its a new formulation in a predated formula marked package.
