what if you just flip the cd mount upside down. Do you use the radio or vent fan controls more? The OP's location looks good though. Does it obscure your view much? any pics from the drivers seat, POV style?

So you came and quoted why?

Edit: not to mention you resurrected this thread from the dead just to make a smart a$$ remark.

I have the cd slot mount for my phone. You can use it but it will bock the controls for either the account or radio.

It's a tight fit, but it does work.

Thanks for these picture. I was looking and wondering about that on my drive home yesterday.

I'd imagine that the gps would take up a little of both controls...

Then started thinking that I really don't use my ac controls much, I just put it on auto and let it be. The radio controls are the only thing I'm worried about but then I only use the media button and the touch screen or steering wheel controls for the rest.

I don't have the trailer brake control so there is the little cubby hole in the top left corner of the dash, wonder if you can rig something up there to hold a gps?

They also have the holders that clip into the A/C vents, but I don't think they work on vertical vents like our trucks have?

The trailer brake control location is a good idea too, just have to think of something that would fit in there nicely.

I wouldn't recommend the ac vents. There are some that work for vertical vents but it locks in your vent direction and these trucks only have 4... I know my rear passengers would be complaining a lot.

looking around some more, I may try a mount that goes inside the power/cigarette plug like this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/CAR-VEHICLE-CIGARETTE-LIGHTER-MOUNT-SOCKET-FOR-ALL-GARMIN-NUVI-DEZL-465-560-760-/360805608533?pt=GPS_Holders_Mounts&hash=item5401b0ac55

Or they also sell similar ones with a flexible neck that goes inside the cupholder.

Sorry it took so long but here are the pov pictures of the cd mount.

I don't mind this the way it is, but it's hard to get to the buttons behind the mount. However, you won't be touching those all the time anyways and you can move it a tiny bit if necessary.

You cannot tilt the cd mount to give the driver a better view of the phone. It faces the back and that's it.

I feel they don't have any great GPS holders for the Chevy trucks. The vents blades (small) don't go the right way. I don't like looking down or to the side. Putting it too far (in the windshield) is not a great idea. Hard to see. I like the GPS right in front of my view of driving. I was thinking on getting this holder and sticking it to the bottom of the front window. Keep everything very low. Let the bar rest on the dashboard and hope the GPS falls over the dashboard or rest on the dash. Depending on where it is stuck to the window, the (18.5) might give it the correct reach. Still not crazy about it.

Too bad the auto manufactures don't add something universal to the dashboard where you can mount the GPS close up and easy to see while driving. The hole for a trailer brake where you can't add the OEM brake (if not added at the factory) still does not make any sense to me. Especially when most trucks don't have the OEM brake. I don't like to stick anything into the CD (too low) or make holes in the dashboard. I only need a GPS about 10-15% of the time.

Any better ideas out there to mount and keep the GPS in place from moving?

Ive been waiting for Edge or Kuda to come out with a mount. Ive seen metal bracket mounts that use the holes on the inside of the radio bezel

I like the looks of the GPS sitting on top of the dash, but I think I'll try Velcro first and see if it would hold. If not I wouldn't have a problem screwing it in.

I agree and like the GPS on the dash or slightly lower in driver's view. I don't like looking down or to the lower right side below top of dash (with small screen 4" or 5") in busy/heavy - fast moving traffic plus checking mirrors etc.. See it better. The Silverado windshield is long and wide to set it on unless you stick it on very top or left upper side.

The other day I had trouble with the GPS in my convertible. The screen was white out (sun) and I had to put the top back up to read it. LOL.

I tried velcro but the heat from the sun caused it to unglue and made a good mess (glue) on my previous truck.
