What have you done to your K2 today?

Recommended Posts

Had a lot done a lot in the last month or so. Totally new brake system save a few lines, BT Dieselworks autosync, short antenna, APS sidesteps, Morimoto headlights, then had wheels and tires done last week or so. Tried to get Eibach pro truck shocks done today but my lower spring perches are pretty shot so doing Eibach stage 2 kit now. Waiting on good weather to do plugs, wires, tow spec full aluminum radiator, sure-cool valve, black rear bumper, black front bumper, Morimoto fogs, and updated rearview cam. Waiting on parts for DOD delete kit and Circle D converter, also Kryptonite hubs and tie rods to do an offroad spec knuckle conversion with cognito and TTX control arms. When everything mechanical is sorted going to do rust repair/prevention and paint correction with debadge.

Some great upgrades, looking nice! Are you planning on wrapping or painting the bumpers? I wrapped mine and they look awesome, plus no worries with rock chips like the painted bumpers. 3M 2080 gloss black vinyl matches onyx black pretty dang good.

Thanks. Not gonna wrap anything, but that is good to know about the matching. I have a black steel bumper awaiting install, I hit a deer in my last 1500 so it's a big priority this time.

Today I got to do something unheard of around here on January 12th. I gave the big girl a hand wash in the street. It was 36°F here today.

The fist pic is the foam cannon action , not salt.

I was about to say, that she was in need of a serious wash.  For me to wash my baby during the winter months, it has to be at least 45º for wash-o-matic, and at least 65º for handwashing.

Looks good.

I don’t drive dirty vehicles. I have monthly car wash passes. Up to 3 times a week I go through. Even on trips where I stop each night I’ve located the same type of car washes. Contrary to popular belief no scratches.  A little spray wax about twice a year.

I typically only  hand-wash the vehicles (with a hand wash-mit and cold fingers) and no foam cannon, regardless of temperature.  It's fun in single digits when the soap foam has frozen to the vehicle by the time it gets washed off.  I'll pull the vehicle onto the lawn so as not to create an ice rink in the driveway; the exception was last year when we had a standing 12"+ inches of snow for over 2 months and I couldn't utilize the lawn, so I did have to purchase a monthly car-wash pass to avoid the driveway icing.  The Bimmer's Monacoblau paint did NOT appreciate that, the carwash beat it up good, but swirl marks > corrosion.  During winter, I wash the vehicles in use at least once a week, which is why I'll also limit usage to 2 instead of 6.  Paying for a carwash pass is painful, as is paying anyone to do anything.  I hate wasting money frivolously. 😉

Now, the bow tie on my steering wheel matches the ones on the grill and the tailgate.  Tried using some touch up paint that I had, didn’t like it, so I reworked it with some Plasti-Dip I had laying around.

Prepped for my initial attempt to paint it black.

You can see how “ugly” it turned out, initially.

First of three layers of Plasti-Dip.

Used my recently purchased heat gun to force cure each layer/application.

“Finished product.”

I’m on a streak, did something else to my truck, today.  TAILGATE LIGHT BAR

A few weeks ago, I connected a 5-Pin Flat Trailer Connector to my Lightbar.  Last weekend, my son and I put all of the wires in a tube, just like the rest of the harnesses under the bed.  Today, before installing it, my son and I tested it, it all worked.

Tailgate Light Bar - Tried catching the unlock flash.

There’s a “box in front of the bumper, where I stuffed the rest of the harness.

95mm+ Soler Performance TB came in! Looks good, but it came with some scratches I wasn't expecting...

Found out they also change the gearing in their tb's so the blade opens 100%. Instead of the blade opening 90 degrees to the housing, it now opens parallel with the s shaped bore. More wot area!
