2015 sierra 1500 lifter issue

My new truck sierra 1500 slt crew cab started ticking at 5000 km

2nd oil change at 12000 ticking continues

Garage says lifters completely collapsed

Does it make sense to ask for a new vehicle

Seems like another lemon

Lemon laws vary by state and there is no state that allows a lemon law buyback because of one problem with no repair attempt. Typically it requires three or four attempts to repair the same issue (not three different issues) or the vehicle needs to be down (under repair) for a specific period of time. You can't just go in and tell them you have a lemon and expect to get something. They are legally obligated to attempt repair and you are legally obligated to allow them to attempt repair.

By "garage" do you mean a shop diagnosed this that wasn't a GM dealer? If so take it to a GM dealer, have them inspect and diagnose it. If the lifter is indeed shot they will most likely just replace the engine with a new one.

I don't get the whole, "my engine is damaged, I want a new truck" mentality that I've seen float around recently. Its just an engine, just get a new one thrown in there, have them add some miles to your warranty and be done with it. Its not as if they are going to pull a used engine off a junkyard and stuff it in there.
