This means your USB route goes behind the radio. What usb cables are you using? GM factory ones or amazon generic ones? If GM cables, which color cables?

Phil,

I have a green to gray and then a generic amazon cable I trimmed to fit. Thanks in advance

Ok. So the green to grey will not plug up like originally expected as it needs a green port from the HMI.

If you still have the jump seat and it’s harness, you can strip the usb cable from it, and use it to mate with the cable under the front seat. Route the grey end to the front USB hub.

Then use the generic cable and come out of the front Usb hub (driver side port) to feed the brown port of the HMI.

Give that a go... it might be easier to buy a 2nd generic cable from amazon as opposed to stripping the cable from the jump seat harness.

Great, I’ll figure out about the cables. Which USB under the drivers seat?

Pretty sure "under the front seat" refers to the USB connection under the passenger seat, not the driver's seat.  "Driver side port" refers to the USB hub in the console.

The USB cable disconnect under the front passenger seat. Where the original jump seat plugged into. This cable terminates behind the radio. So you can look for it behind the radio screen or use a generic cable and plug into it under the front seat. Whichever method, the other end should go into the front USB hub. The front usb hub (if it’s a double usb hub) should have an “input” and an “output” on the backside. The “input” is the side closer to the passenger side. The “output” is closer to the driver side.

Looking good so far. I can’t seem to figure out how the bracket installs? Does anyone have a diagram for this?

The front bracket? It used (4) existing 7mm bolts. You have to remove them and reuse them. The bracket only goes one way. You might have hard time with the 2 upper 7mm bolts. I remove the radio and HVaC controls for easier access.

Okay guys hopefully last question since I can see the finish line. Thanks for your help!!

I routed the brown port to the passenger seat connection, and I’m still left with the USB by the 6 pin connection that doesn’t lead anywhere I can see. I have function in both cigarette lighters but obviously not the triple USB hub since no USB is giving it power. Any advice here? I can live without the triple if it’s not an option

Correction to the post above, the two cig lighters in front worked until I turned on the truck and started driving to work. Now only the hidden one under the lid works? I haven’t tried the triple USB. looks great though! Had to break off the latch to open it which is frustrating.

Ok. So the triple USB hub will only have a single USB input. That’s the missing link. With a triple USB and no HMI, you’ll only have one USB feed that you can use. Which means, you’ll have to decide which one you want hot. With a double USB hub, it has an input and an output. That output would feed the brown port.

I should be ordering a complete console on Monday 11/11/19. It will be out of a wrecked 2018 gmc sierra 1500 crew cab SLT. My truck is the 2017 gmc sierra 1500 SLE double cab. I already have the 12 volt and 110v outlets now next to ash tray. The guy is supposed to send console along with any and all wires and cables that's connected to it. Can you give me any advice on anything before I order it, and what I will need from you to get it all up and running? Thanks!!!

    • I was the GM of a Lincoln Mercury dealership back in the 80's. The service lot was always full with "broken" ones. Plenty of transmissions, power windows and a/c repairs. The only one I'd consider owning would be the Marauder at this point and it certainly wouldn't be a daily driver.  My 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate is my "Lincoln Town Car" in my retirement. I want all the "stuff". Big infotainment screens, one touch power windows, Supercruise (I won't buy another vehicle without it), hands free pretty much everything. I'm going to swap my current truck for a 2027 Yukon Denali Ultimate so I can have the air suspension and surround vision recording along with all the other "stuff".
    • Yep mine is on backorder also.
    • The Denali Ultimate's grille is tinted, but the "regular' Denali has a bright chrome grille like the current models.
    • Because that is IDIOTIC, much like this question. They've already been forced to do it by past administrations - why would you roll that back when it's a GOOD thing?  WHO IS ARGUING FOR LOWER MILEAGE???? 😂  NOBODY IS!!   I'm certainly not! What I want is RELIABLE vehicles again that are worth the price paid!    I don't get your logic here ...   In 2003 I paid $2,200 for our '86 Grand Marquis. It's STILL running and I've never been inside the engine, aside for the timing cover since it was leaking, so I threw a new timing set in since that makes sense. Transmission is ORIGINAL. Electric pump in the gas tank is ORIGINAL. Rear end is ORIGINAL. I'd have to hit my head REAL hard to want to pay $60k or more for a car that still can't come close to the comfort, seating and storage space, or reliability of this one. Nothing is even in the ball park! Hundreds of thousands of brands and models have been built and sent to the crusher while this one keeps on going!   https://postimg.cc/Z9XRrCSg   I've got a whole fleet of cars, motorcycles, and a truck close to this age for summer and winter. No one could pay me enough to buy anything built this century. I have zero use for any it.
    • Since I'm the one who has to fix them when they break, I'll take vehicles over 30 years old all day, EVERY day, over ANY modern crap. Have you attempted any repairs on anything built after 2006? It's a friggin nightmare, and gets worse the newer the model year.    If I had the will or desire, I can make any car of any age outside of a Model T (I don't have THAT much will ...) just as powerful, comfortable, and have all the tech the new stuff does, and get pretty close in mileage, too. I prefer SIMPLICITY. The less the vehicle has, the less to fix WHEN it breaks, not IF.   I'm glad you snot-nosed punks don't like them. More for us, plus that keeps the prices from climbing more than they already have.👍
