I used hypertec, still too many extra moving parts and add ons for little gain.

Your truck deserves to relax in a shaded area, driven occasionally cause it seems to have been a great truck, treating you well. Aside of level/wheels/tires/shocks, mine is completely stock and loving it.

$60K truck and no freaking light under my hood, lol. Guess GM thought we wouldn’t need it.

Standard on Ford. Along  with tool box. LOL

Honestly, I cant remember the last time I had a light under the hood.  I think my Cadillac STS had one back in 93 but cant remember for sure.

Now, I would like the bed lights to come on for 10 minutes when I dropped the tailgate !

Ahhhh, the good ol’ days! Lol! When do you or any of us remember working on our vehicles in the dark? If we did we’d always have ample lighting added. It wasn’t cause GM was cheap, it’s cause it was worthless. I had it in many of my SUV’s and even then thought it had worthless amount of lighting. Add something yourself (LED’s) cause you’ll be glad you did.

Not to highjack the thread, and perhaps I still have rose colored glasses, but I think the headlights on my 18 are pretty decent. What do people not like about them?

The 16-18 trucks don't have a headlight problem. It's the 14 and 15's that had problems, they didn't illuminate the road too well, especially the ones with out the factory projectors. It wasn't just the Silverado's and Sierra's that had this problem, F-150's were poor too, still are if you get the halogens. But with the F-150's, if you take a few minutes and adjust them, they improved. Just like their electrical systems, the Ford engineers can figure head lights out. The road is on the ground not in the sky. Ford's are the worse culprits for blinding low beams, because they are poorly aimed.

My decked out 216 Yukon XL has projector headlights and they’re [emoji90]. Looking to switch them out to LED’s

My 92 has a light under the hood that you can unhook and move around. That not having cylinder deactivation, and the AC still is charged with the original R-12 is the reason this ones a keeper.99cd81049c798032e07b1e5573d17aa0.jpg

Can't speak for the SUV's but the Trucks were greatly improved in 16

I heard about that, I traded in my 14 for a 16 DMax and now own an 18 CC 6.2 loaded out with awesome LED lights, love my 18 but looking to change out the Yukon’s headlight bulbs.

Well I can attest to small improvements  through the years. i bought a new 2014 SLT / new 2016 Denali / new 2017 Denali ultimate and now just traded for a new 2018 Denali Ultimate. Got the 2018 for a killer deal and it has some further refinements that i like. The argument about the underhood lighting seems silly, the people that want this are probably still using a fax machine LOL it is absolutely an OBSOLETE feature.

In some points I agree and in others I don’t. My 18 has LED headlights (optional) which are superior lighting compared to all the other previous years. Shake was in my 14, not in my 16 and definitely not in my 18. I have absolutely ZERO rattling going on unless one of the kids left something in the door storage. The 6.2 I have is an enormous upgrade in power from previous 5.3 I had. Hopefully I haven’t jinxed it but I had a choice, jump on the 19’s, be a guinea pig like I was when I ran out and bought the first loaded 14. As far as lighting under the hood, it’s a 50/50. Wired lighting under the hood is a risk factor and battery operated with all the extreme heat would destroy your battery life, keep a flashlight in your truck, same thing will happen to it eventually I guess. I’m enjoying my 18 much more than any previous years but there’s always a few years later in the future, trade into 2021 or 2022 hoping all the kinks are taken care of.

I have an 18 and I'm reading this noise in the dash, wind noise, shake and I'm thinking...wait a second, my truck is quieter than my wife's Lexus LS460. I'm not kidding. The thing drives down the road, straighter and quieter than a Lexus flagship sedan.

And it doesnt have a light light under the hood?? I haven't seen a light under a hood in nearly 20 years! Hell most people don't even change their oil every 10,000 miles, never open the hood, or give two craps about anything but putting gas in it and beating the ever living hell out of it.

It seems like a hit or miss for me. I currently own an early built 14, drive a 15 for work and have some miles under my belt driving a few friends 18's and a 17. From my experience, my 14 is my favorite truck, the 15 is annoying, and I did enjoy driving the 17 & 18. The reason I prefer my 14 is more subjective than anything else. I greatly prefer the red interior versus the teal/blue interior on the newer GMC's. I like the removable cup-holders for extra storage. The overall fit/finish is great in both the 14 and 15 but it has improved in the 17's & 18's.

My 14 has a 6.2 with 3.42's, 6 speed, custom tune, bolt ons, and it drives great. It's noticeably quicker than any other 6.2 I've driven, but then again it isn't stock like the others have been. The 15 is a 6.2 that came with the 8 speed and I can't stand that damn transmission. The 18's transmission is much better and smoother but still feels a bit 'awkward'. Both the 14 and 15 have had their share of issues, but the 15 seems to have been plagued with a few more compared to the 14 for some reason. Sheer dumb luck I suppose. What's really strange to me, and believe me or not I'm not being biased here, is my 14's backup camera blows away any other GM product in driven in between 14-18. That includes a 17 Cadillac with a 360 degree camera system. I'm not sure why honestly, but its noticeably clearer than any other one I've been in, and has no noticeable lag. These are all higher trim trucks for what it's worth, even though they should share the same camera all the way down to the base model anyway. In reality, I would be content not happy if I went from my 14 to an 18. I'd rather trade up to a 19 for the newer improvements. The minor ones in the K2's do not please me enough and I honestly feel like I'm losing personal comforts by upgrading.

That being said. There's things about the 19's I don't like either. No adjustable seatbelt length? Not necessary but still, really? Less storage around the doors? What looks to be like a smaller storage area in front of the console (due to the bulky wireless phone charger). The overall interior refresh feels lazy and quickly put together. Is it functional? I'm sure. Aesthetically pleasing? Not too much. Is that important to you? Well, it's subjective but everyone has there own reasons for what they decide works and what doesn't. There's pro's and con's but I'm not crazy about the 19's either. As of typing this, I'm not thrilled with the 19 T1s, I'm impressed but still very skeptical of the quality in the 19 Rams, and somewhat confused about the Fords..ugh..can't stand the V6 TT idea. Or that hideous blue logo... Didn't even bother looking at a Titan or Tundra...

IMO the 2016-2018’s are far superior to the 2014-2015’s for two reasons: Apple CarPlay & HID headlights.

Another vote for the gay blue lighting. Classy looking. Not a fan of the 14-16 gmc red backlighting. Looks tacky and reminds me of 90s pontiacs.
