How long has it been since your last brake failure?

Lost them in my loaner 2019 back in January, then lost them in my own truck a few months later. They reprogrammed the BSCM and it’s been fine, but I really would rather not deal with it again.

IMO it’s way worse than just losing power assist. You can stand on the pedal with both feet, and the truck just lazily coasts to a stop. The pedal is rock hard like it would be with no power assist, but the brake’s function is closer to blowing a brake line, in how ineffective it is.

Ya I’m pretty terrified after reading all of this to have mine reprogrammed. It’s not due for service for another 4,000 miles so hopefully they can figure it out before then.

Are all 2019s having this recall? I have a build date of 6/19  5.3 sierra, and i keep checking the mygm site with my vin# , and it still says no recalls for my truck.  The site says last updated 12/28, so does this mean   im good, or that it just hasnt made its way in the system yet?

My truck has been in the shop for 7 days now.  I got a call today from the dealer letting me know that they finally received information from their engineers.  Not sure if she meant a local Chevy engineer or a corporate GM Engineer.  Either way, she said that they were told to replace the Brake Module.  They did not have the part so they had to order it.  She said I should hear something next week when they get the part in and replace it.  I am so incredibly frustrated with GM/Chevy.  I have been without my new truck for a week and honestly, would rather they keep the damn thing!  Give me a new truck - my faith & confidence level in this one has diminished!

I have been a die-hard Chevy guy since I was a kid.  I have spent years owning a Chevy with pride, protecting the brand from naysayers (Ford, Dodge, etc...).  I am embarrassed and ashamed of this truck  Thousands of dollars spent on a LEMON!  Maybe I am overreacting...  But safety and the functionality of a brake system should be one of THE MOST IMPORTANT aspects of building any new vehicle.

I'll update this post next week when I hear back from the dealer.

Got a call today from the dealer that they fixed this problem.  When I asked them what they did, they said they received further information from their diagnostics and engineers that indicated that the issue was that the battery cables needed to be tightened.  Imagine the look on my face when that's the solution they suggested.  I have attached a pic of what they did for reference.  Anyway, I trusted their process and went to pick my truck up. When I arrived, I asked them that when the system fails again in a couple of days, are they going to come pick it up for me?  The service provider laughed and said she understands my frustration.  Welp... tonight, on our way home from a basketball game, it all happened again! Total Brake System Failure!  Again... Fortunately, I have figured out that if you park the truck and restart it a few times, the ABS error will go away and the brakes will work.  But the Check Engine light stays on.  This happened on my 6th restart after picking it up today by the way...

I called the dealer (even though they are closed now until Monday) and left a voicemail that their band aid has already came off... and it didn't feel good.  I cannot even begin to express my frustrations.  OVER IT! Get me anew truck!

I had 7 recalls!  Just had first service performed and they did everything (recalls, service, inspection) in one day.  My truck has not had any of the issues many are experiencing but I did get a few codes one day so I shut it off and restarted the vehicle before driving away.  The light went off and I never had the issue pop up again, but I did check the codes did store and I let the dealer know. The codes were

U0101 lost communication with TCM

U0129 lost com with Brake sys control module

U0102 lost com w/transfer case control module

U0140 lost com w/body control module

here are the sheets that the dealer gave me from the service. You can see what they worked on. Again, my truck really hasn’t done anything weird except for the one time I started the truck and I received the dash warning and shut it off, then restarted with no issues. Not that it is connected, but that is the same day I had removed all the incandescent bulbs and switched them for l.e.d. bulbs....which shouldn’t matter.

im loving my truck but I hate to hear all the issues some are having.  I have driven my truck from Penn to Nashville today and no problems after the dealer work....... so far!

Got mine back today after they had it since Dec 24. Was told by dealer that they were told to bleed the brakes and reprogram - we shall see what happens. I have zero confidence the issue would be solved by that.

Crazy how there is so many different fixes being mentioned that dealers are doing. Shows that there is no known fix for this.

Mine was just in for 2 recalls also,  one was for the seatbelts and the other the brakes. The brake part they just did the reprogramming and that was it. It only has 2k miles on it and so far so good.

My truck is still in the shop.  Been in since Saturday.  I’m of course getting the whole “unable to duplicate”.

I am really hoping that a new recall comes out soon to fix this once and for all.

Update:  The dealer called and told me that they were told not to release my truck back to me until engineers are on site to look at the truck.  She said it went from just my truck to 12 others.  They do not know what is causing this issue.  I am going on 2 weeks without my new truck...  I will say this though, the dealer H&H Chevrolet in Omaha, NE is great to work with and very accommodating during this frustrating time.  I'll update this post as I hear more!
