mine does the jerk/clunk when it shifts back up to 6th gear from 5th gear at approx 45mph

it does it everytime

I just bought a 2015 Chevy Silverado LTZ. It has 1100 miles on it and I am feeling the EXACT vibration in the steering wheel, pedals and floorboards that you are. My dealer said they have never heard of this issue before and recommended I let it "Break In" or "Learn" before I brought it in to get it diagnosed. I will wait until my first oil change before I get it diagnosed, but from what I have read here, this is an issue that GM has not resolved yet.

I also get the "Clunk" sound when the truck shifts when I am getting up to speed quickly, but I cannot replicate it everytime.

Just an update - the loaner we got this time was a Sierra Elevation Edition V8 DC with 20's. This one has Continental tires and although the ride is rough (compared to our SLT) it's pretty smooth. Not sure if it's the truck itself or the tires? Funny that it came stock with a different brand. Anyone else get a GMC delivered with continentals? Asked another stranger with a GMC Sierra CC SLT exactly the same as ours and he says his rides like a car, beat ride ever - I'm boggled.

You only have to wait 500 Miles I believe it is. I started bringing mine in at just over 600. I now have 3000. and thats rising rapidly as I am using my truck for work purposes. atleast my work is paying my mileage :P

Just picked up our truck, they changed one tire - I think GM is playing a sick joke. We didn't even have to get on the smoothest road, it's that bad. Called the SM after 5 min on the highway - made a Uturn and going to pick him up now. We asked "if we turn around, can you take a ride with us?" His response was "sure", kind of like darn it - he knew it wasn't fixed. At least this'll be our third service ticket opened in 2 weeks. After this, it's off to the BBB again.

Edit: He didn't even ask why we wanted him to come with. Hahaha that made us laugh ?

So finally GM cust care called back about the GY SRA vs AT tires. Got a load of BS, im dumbfounded. Said the $150 AT tire upcharge was for the 18" rims because i have the all star package? And all RPO codes are appropriate and got was i an supposed to. My response then was I have a z71 and that automaticly has the z71 specific 18" rims. She pulled a duurrrr well thats what the district manager and the truck rep said is correct so we wont be swapping or refunding anything. Then i looked in my sticker and i paid $1890 for the all star with the 18s the z71 i believe includes the specific 18s and i paid $150 for AT tires that i dont have. She also said GY has SRAs listed as all season and all terrain so their all terrain. I explained that they can only be one or the other and got another duuuuur well it says AT so it is.

Did he go for a ride?

Mine is back in for its 3rd time, and they are now putting new shocks at all 4 corners.

First trip was road force balance, second was 3 new tires, and now shocks.

Yes he did! The ride was terrible, but he stayed very tight lipped. Its up being looked at again. Not sure if they're going to open another ticket though - darn! If it is not fixed after our third attempt we'll be filing with the BBB again. This truck is already a replacement for our first vibrator which was a Chevy. That's nice of them to try the shocks! They never tried doing that to ours!!!! Check the lemon law guidelines in your state - most are 3 repair attempts and you can file. If you are rally fed up go this route, they'll require one more attempt with an engineer and then you settle. Edited by Bdkfl

So RF'd number up to 20 are acceptable! 20!?!?! WTH!?!? Ours were "within range" 18,12,15 and 16. We're on another ride with him and it still vibrates - surprise. So I say "well, it must not be the tires!!!!" He actually had the nerve to say he "didn't know what else it could be!!!! everything is in spec!" Although this is fun playing these games - it's much too tiring with only 12 more weeks until we welcome our new family member.

That sucks. I'm also in Florida, and this is the 3rd attempt. I'm not too optimistic at this point. Would think shocks would only mask the real problem, so we'll see. I may have it back today, as the shocks were supposed to come in today.

Good luck! Everytime we drop it off, I say it will not be fixed. It never is. We're taking back the loaner and he's going to keep it and hook up a PICO meter to it. I'll be interested to see what the numbers are......

I wonder how many other people are doing this that aren't on this message board? I am in the same position you are...2nd truck is in shop right now for 3rd repair attempt...been in there for over a week.

I fully understand the situation with these trucks at this point (at least I think I do), so it makes sense to me that GM is doing what they are doing...but at what point do they actually redesign the trucks so they don't shake anymore? Are they insane?

It sounds like 2016 will have the same issues, so that means we will be doing this BBB song and dance for at least another year? People will be on their 3rd and 4th BBB case?

Tell you what GM...MSRP trade me into any new Tahoe of my choice and I will go away (Tahoes don't shake, right?). I don't want to deal with this garbage anymore than you do.

Spec on these new trucks is 15lbs road force max limit. You need to find a new dealer. It's sad when the public knows more about gm specs than the service department does.

hahaha and the cycle begins again... that sucks. atleast you'll get another new truck. When I file mine, I'm changing brands, I don't have the time to deal with this anymore.

I got the same thing, except I paid $350 for my upgraded A/T tires, I told them that I will take them to small claims if necessary as the GY Wrangler SR-A is NOT an A/T tire, and I have 5 of the top tire retailers websites all proving it.

If I were you, I'd file under the BBB, not deal with the 4th repair attempt, then when they settle tell them what you want and accept nothing less than Full MSRP. Personally I am going to try to get more such as One OR More of the following: sales tax, first years excise tax, a trade assist compensation as I will no longer have a vehicle to trade and the new brand, and that they use GM Financial to repair the 2 credit scores on my loan to the point they were before the loan was taken for this truck. We as consumers do have more leverage than you may think. In Massachusetts, there is a consumer rights law under what is called MGL (Massachusetts General Law) 93A, which gives people the right to sue for double or triple the value of the damages (monetary in this case). If they want to play hard ball, Play hard ball back

There are a lot of people that have it and aren't on the forum, I ask just about everyone I see with a '14 or '15 GM and probably 50-60% have it and didn't know it was such a big problem.

From the understanding I have now, it does appear that the '16 will have the same issues

Atleast you got a manager to ride with you lol

I went yesterday, the manager "left early" even after a GM rep called the dealer to tell them I was going after work to take the manager for a ride so that I can show him the shuddering and hard shifting.

    • Hello hello looking forward to expanding my knowledge of the 2026 2500 HD that I just bought.   Truck has 3500 miles on it four-wheel-drive crew cab and I’m about to put a 6 1/2 inch BDS lift on it 18 x 10 -25 offset with 37’s   Already have the wheels and tires just waiting on the lift install in about three weeks   Question what surprises am I not gonna be happy with?  I’m not new to lifted trucks so I know that acceleration towing gas mileage all that is affected..   Question is those of you that have this truck this powertrain with a 10 speed Allison and have done the mods that I’m doing,,, how bad is it? Is that Allison constantly gonna be hunting for the right gear to go into? And what about towing, acceleration, fuel consumption as mentioned?    Lastly how come I can’t find any ring pinion gear set up for these axles and when could I expect to see them?   I apologize if there’s any typos I’m doing speech to text on my iPhone.
    • I've got a 2013 2500 6.0L Flexfuel. Drove the truck earlier today with no issues. Went to run an errand tonight and noticed key fob wouldn't work. Figured battery was dead, so replaced fob batter. Still wasn't working. Grabbed my other set of keys with the other fob and that one wasn't working either. So I manually unlock truck and insert key. Interior lights come on, dashboard lights up, turn key and truck starts. Turn truck off, like a moron, and try starting again. This time no crank, no click, no nothing. Lights still come on and dash lights up, but now I'm getting a service 4wheel drive, service tire monitor, etc. Check voltage on battery and Im showing 12.2v. Throw my battery charger on it and give it 15 mins and try starting again. But still no crank no start. Decide maybe its a bad battery, run to autozone grab a new one and put it in. Same issue. Disconnect battery and let it sit for 15 mins. Try again and still nothing. I had managed to roll the windows down earlier as its a humid night, but now I can't get them to roll up. Power locks are also not working now. Then randomly I try the key again, and it fires right up. Immediately I roll up the windows as we have nothing but rain forecast this week. I shut it back off wait 30 seconds and start up again. Worked a 2nd time. So turn it off, start putting things back together. Try one more time, and back to no crank no start. And now the car alarm starts going off. Had to disconnect battery and leave it that way for the night as I don't think my neighbors would appreciate my alarm going off again tonight. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
    • No one will care for you like you care for you. Do what you can for as long as you can. IMHO of course.
    • How about them NICKS!!!
    • Hi there.  Long time lurker, first post.    i have read the previous posts regarding the water ingress problem with this emblem.  I bought my 1500 SLT the  summer of 2025 new and after reading the MANY problems with these emblems failing I decided to install one anyways.  As per a YouTube video, I sealed ( or tried to) this sign with silicone sealant around the outer perimeter joint and the holes that were already somewhat sealed on the rear plate of the emblem.  And installed the connector assembly using dielectric grease on the connectors. The installation looked great and worked well for about 4 months……then FAILURE.  Grrrrrr…… I live in the great white north and wash my truck weekly in an automatic car wash  to keep the salt off.  Let me tell you that removing the old, failed emblem is a whole different animal than removing the OEM individual letters without removing the grill assembly. Mainly because the illuminated logo is built differently than the original letters which  you can remove the red surface lettering with a knife or some kind of blade which gives access to the tabs which hold the logo onto the grill. So I had to essentially destroyed the old emblem to remove it. Doing so killed my chance of doing somekind of autopsy on the failed , old logo.  But there was plenty of water inside when I ripped it apart.  Prior to installing the new assembly I tried it with the old harness and it works fine.   Does anyone have any insight as to where the water is getting into this emblem? I intend to seal the new logo with slow curing epoxy this time around using a syringe.  I think this newer emblem may be an updated unit which I hope GM got the vendor to fix. It has an October 2025 date on it.    If this one  fails,  I am just going to revert back to the non-illuminated letters….AFTER PULLING THE GRILL.    Any thoughts on sealing with epoxy would be appreciated. Thx!   Doug
