I'm im the BBB process again and the GM rep offered us ONE MONTHS PAYMENT to make us go away. Is he SERIOUS!?!? We told him we've haven't been so insulted in this whole process as we are right now. THE NERVE OF THESE PEOPLE. He KNOWS this is the second time we're doing this! They didn't even have the nerve to try offering that to us the first time! He didn't even acknowledge the final repair attempt! Nope - 1 months payment.

Woooowww

I do NOT have those tires... let's be clear about that. I have the bridgestone Dueler HL's. Also, there is no vibration in my steering wheel, seat, center console, pedals, or anything now... so I don't think rotating them would change anything.

Gotcha, mine are the Dueler A/T's. They are awesome in the snow for 22's....just wish the truck didnt vibrate. Waiting on the BBB to get back to me with a final answer from GM. Hopefully getting a buyback or a new truck in the next few weeks.

Have them try a new set of wheels and tires off a truck they have on the lot and see if that cures it.

In the end, new wheels and tires fixed the issue completely. The issue I was having was a vibration at 68mph+ in the seats, floor, pedals, and center console. I had the truck in a total of three times, the first two times they just kept road forcing the wheels and tires I had, and couldn't figure it out. This last time, I got the impression that it just sat, and they got tired of it, so just told me to pick out a new set, before they exchanged the truck. I guess I should note that I never had a vibration at 40, and never was my vibration in the steering wheel. One of the rear wheels and tire on the chrome ones came up with a road force variation at 22 in the best case, and took 6.75 ounces of weight. That probably was the issue all along, but the service manager didn't want to replace a tire... Whatever ha.

Even though I have said this before in this thread, Mine was also cured by a Re-Balance and Tire Rotation... One of my wheels was out 2 1/4 OZ and I have heard that was a lot... 6.75OZ... WOW!!!!!!! I am still a bit nervous the next Rotation may bring the Vibes back...

Congrats Bud... Lets see a Picture with your new Shoes...

I know this is going to look suspicious being only my third post but I wasn't sure what forum to join at first. I have noticed a shake or vibration in my new 4x4 crew 5.5 box 5.3 truck it seems to come and go and has been a pain to pin point what makes it happen. I can feel it in the steering wheel, seat and sometimes the gas petal but mostly in the steering wheel. It seems to be most noticeable going up or down hill with very light acceleration but can do it on level ground at cruise speed too. And the fun part is it doesn't always do it to make it more of a challenge to diagnose it.

Brought it to the dealer last week and I thought the mechanic was going to think I was crazy but he did feel it too which was a relief also the service writer test drove it after they balanced and rotated the tires and he said its slight, but he felt it too. We scheduled it to come in tomorrow and are opening a warranty claim. I have very little faith that its going to get fixed because of the nature of the vibration and it being so new that there probably isn't any info out there on what it could be. I really don't know what they can do tomorrow other then make phone calls. If I had to venture a guess I'm going to say its in the transmission or possibly the engine.

We also have a 2012 equinox and on the same roads there's no vibration at all.

Also I have the z71 and man does that thing ride STIFF! Every repair strip in the tar is felt hard! Anyone know if it just takes some miles to get the shocks broke in (2600 on it now)? My 04 was a z71 too and rode much, much softer then this.

I would really like to get this figured out because it, along with a few other

smaller things is preventing me from loving this truck.

The Z71, either 4x4 or 2wd is gonna be stiff.. it is a 4WD suspension and designed to be driven off-road.

Only difference in the Z71 is rancho shocks over the stock black shocks a skid plate under the transfer case and Z71 badge. The frame on these trucks are stiffer than the 900s and the body mounts are no longer rubber. They just dont ride and well as the older trucks.

That's pretty shitty. My dealer offered me a month's payment for all the trouble I'd been through to date, and they felt it was fixed. Didn't accept anything yet though, since mine still vibrates after 4 attempts. What also sucks is that if you do get a new truck, the maintenance is cut in half and the warranty is now only 60k instead of 100k.

With more and more parts on these trucks being made in China, perhaps GM will adopt the Harbor Freight warranty policy and will reduce the warranty on the whole truck to 90 days after purchase. One year/10k miles will be optional at additional cost. This would be quite appropriate, as the quality of these trucks seems to have matched the Harbor Freight level already.

I agree these trucks are the least forgiving GM has produced because of the stiffer lighter weight frame. Unfortunately a handful of parts on them are the same parts that were used on previous models and I don't think the tolerances on these parts are sufficient for the latest frame design. I'm pretty sure the problem is wheels, tires, hubs or a combination of the three, In my case I think it's radial run-out in the hubs so it doesn't matter how well you balance the tire once it's off center on the hub axis it's no longer balanced and you get a vibrator. I read an article that said on sensitive vehicles even .010" to .015" run-out would create a noticeable vibration.

So the new truck takes over where "their" fkd up truck left off? Man that is so shady

But that's just powertrain warranty, right? Infiniti and Mitsubishi offer a 5 year/60k mile bumper to bumper warranty. If GM did that, I would consider it a major improvement.

    • Just did an injector/HPFP replacement on Pepper at 192,400 miles; close enough to 200K, RIGHT? (If 200K is considered life end and to me it isn't). But hey, to each his own.    Have never run a catch can on this vehicle. Back side of every valve looked like a new valve spray painted semigloss black. Port walls looked 'neat' (all a normal result of passive EGR via VVT) Zero build up even in AFM cylinders. Just color. It uses no measurable oil and never has.    At 155,000 I put her on E-85 and a borescope of the cylinders at plug change showed very clean pistons and valve faces. The replaced injector tips looked new. (It was the pump piston seal that was leaking). Oh well, have six good backups.    Still gets 28 mpg on gas (highway average) and over 20 (highway) on alky. UOA's look good and runs as good now as it did when I bought it. Better in fact.    What improvement would a Catch Can provide this motor?     And given all this I expect that IF I installed one I'd see some water/gas/oil vapor accumulation. Byproducts of normal combustion.   Having said that, IF my motor used an appreciable amount of oil I'd consider it a useful 'crutch' until I had the situation corrected OR if bore polished, until I junked it or rebuilt it to stave off repeated plug fouling.    I'm not telling you what I THINK. But what its DONE.
    • Love the look. I'm a SCSB lover myself.    Two items. 1.) A spacer changes scrub radius but this also changes when we use wheels of different offsets. A little isn't a big deal. 2.) Steel wheels, alloy wheels all have different thickness. Same effect on the stud and lug nut as a spacer. When hub centric the wheel isn't supported by the stud. It's supported by the hub. The stud just keeps it all together.
    • I had a evap sol go bad a couple weeks ago. . I replaced it.  While watching live data at the time I saw I had some cylinder 1 misfires. No MIL but on live data I could see ~50 at startup and about 70 more after an hour a drive all on cyl 1.  I also noticed that the LTFT were -5% to -15% always.  And that bank 2 is always -3% richer than bank 1. Even across all driving modes, city, highway, etc it’s always 3% richer than bank 1. So I start with the misfire. Swapped coil, plug, and plug wires from 1 to 3. No follow. I got an Injector reseal kit, pulled the D/s injector rail, swapped #1 and #3 injectors, resealed them, reinstalled and retested.  The misfire followed to 3. So I ordered and replaced all 8 injectors, spark plugs, and plug wires. Also replaced the 1 time use fuel pipes under the intake manifold.  Injectors that were in the truck since new were  Part # 12668390.  I replaced them with # 12742701 Got from RockAuto. Pretty certain they’re genuine and the correct ones. I called a friend at a parts store who told me “the 12742701 were the correct superseded part # for the originals I was replacing”. So started truck after replacing all that and it’s running -15 - -30 LTFTs. I reset the fuel trims with GDS2 and drove it for a 60 miles trip each way. There have been no changes in the LTFTs.  I checked if the HPFP was leaking into the crankcase. I removed the pvc and watched the trims. No difference.  I checked the alcohol content and it was at 10%  I’m out of ideas here. Truck seems to run great. Just always rich on the fuel trims.  Anyone with any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.  I ran an injector balance test just for the heck of it and it came back this. I’m confused.  I have gds2 and some other diag tools if anyone knows of anything I should test next.
