Got to talk to the actual GM Mechanic at the local dealership. He has been sent to several classes on this issue. Has even personally worked with the GM engineers on a customers truck that they are trying to get GM to buy back.

We were bickering about how pointless it is for me to road force balance the factory wheels and tires since I don't use them. They sit in my garage.

Anyway... he point blank admitted that every single 2014 and 2015 on there lot has the shake. Any dealer ship saying they have not dealt with it is flat lying. He believes the frames are simply to stiff and cause the harmonics to increase from many sources. He personally has worked on 100's of trucks and not one of them has been fixed.

I have to have the factory wheels and tires road forced balanced. I don't have to use them. I just have to have the work done and say the shake is still there. They will then move on to shocks, rear diff and drive line. All of which will do nothing to remove the shake. After all that I can file a law suit and try to get GM to buy the truck back, but the 2016 will do it as well.

He says to not waste my time... Get the after market lift, and find a good off road shop to help find a real fix, cause GM has no clue. Several of there customers have installed 4" lifts and found the shake to be noticeable less. He has not dealt with any 6" lifts.

Something I found very interesting... this dealership does not have the equipment for the road force balance. They are sending me to a larger dealer. They have sent a few dozen trucks to this dealer. When I asked this larger dealer about the shake they say they have never heard of any trucks shaking. Um... really... Never heard of it... but they have done this balancing how many times... Really hate how dealers are lying to cover it up.

Local dealership says most people dont drive 75 mph. If they do they assume it is just the road and not the truck.

I finally fixed the vibrations on my 2014 Silverado by replacing it with a 2016 F150 yesterday. Yea I lost a lot of money in the deal but this truck is better than my Silverado in every aspect. Its drives so nice and best of all does NOT vibrate. Now I can finally sleep at night and not have to worry about all the BS GM was feeding me. I lost my arbitration hearing with the BBB as they sided with GM stating it was "normal operation" to vibrate at speeds above the posted speed limit. This has been such a horrible experience and GM does not give 2 shits, I will never own another GM in my life. Time to put this all behind me and enjoy my new non-vibrating truck! Best of luck to all of you still fighting this.

BTW for those worried about insurance going up for the alum body, my insurance actually went down $.04 /month with the F150.

Good for you, I will probably be looking at Fords this weekend. I guess you liked better than the dodge? I just want to forget about this vibration BS so bad!

Yes IMO the F150 drove much nicer than the Ram and was overall more comfortable. Its was a few thousand more than the RAM but I got a lot more features for that additional cost. Drive them both and throw in the Tundra for good measures. I skipped the Tundra because I needed a crew cab with a 6-1/2" bed and the Tundra does not offer that.

"get the aftermarket lift" = "it is no longer GM's problem". My local dealer tried to reject my claim on my 15 after I replaced the tires, as they were convinced it was the tires so I figured I would try BFGs and then Michelins. Don't modify the truck in any way. It seems so logical to try this or that. If guys want to try clamps and things that are easily removed than no harm done. As soon as you do the lift, it is your problem.

Congrats, 900,000+ views to this listing. GM will start to take notice. Maybe they will even have Customer Service reach out to those of us that have been burned.

My '16 Tundra now has 6,000+ miles, towed a couple of different cars behind it and have put 1 ton of wood pellet in the bed. No vibrations, no shakes and no stories. Just what a truck should be.

Congrats on the new truck! It is sad that many of us have to switch brands to fix the vibration. Did the dealer say anything about the vibration? Some of the dealers are getting wise to the vibration issue and giving low trade-in values.

I am done with GM except I still own a 64 C-10 that I can't part with. I even considered it but I can't do it. I was really hoping to buy a 2016 Volt in the Spring, as I LOVED my 2013 but I can't do it. If anyone cares, the Volt has the highest GM satisfaction scores of any of their cars.

Update

Got my truck back today with a new set of Michelins and the truck has never rode better. Had it up to 130kph and no vibration. Geez I hope it lasts.....

I'm sorry but it sounds like to me the mechanic you talked to is pretty much clueless and filling you full of bull. Saying that every truck on the lot shakes is a very gross exaggeration. It has already been determined on this thread as well as others that only a small percentage of the trucks have a vibration problem and the majority of those were fixed with balanced and/or better tires. The frame is sensitive and I agree that is the major cause of the problem but with close to 1.5 million of these trucks now sold since 2013 you would think that if there was a major vibration problem it would show itself by now but it hasn't. I know it must seem like they all have vibration problems if your truck has them but in reality very few of them do.

I installed the u-bolt clamps today on the leaf springs. I have them at 5 1/2 inches in front of the axle itself not the blocks. Since my vibs are gone just wanted to see if I could tell any difference with them installed since I already had them. The first thing I notice was the ride, it rides much better now. The town I live in the street are patched everywhere. Going over expansion joints in town 15 to 20 mph before would jar the hell out of the dash now its about half what it was. Took it out on the hwy on a 4 lane where its rough and in that area I always ride in the left lane because its so rough, so got in the right lane and it rode so good that it was no problem. It really surprised the hell out of me I don't know if it changes the spring rate or what. All I know is all the jarring I had before is gone. I was planning on changing out my front shocks with the Bilstein 6112 but not now. Best 16 dollars I ever spent.

Where did you get them, and do you have a link to what they are? Pictures of your install?

Add me to the list of vibrators. New 2016 that was a GM replacement via BBB for a 2014. I thought I had the perfect truck, everything smooth as silk. Eight speed shifts so smooth I don't even notice shifts in city driving. Tight drive train, no clunks. Took a road trip and have a bad vibration at freeway speeds of 70 to 80MPH, legal speeds in Idaho and Utah. I'm sure it isn't tires since I'm running studless snow Michelins that I ran on my 14-that didn't vibrate. Not looking forward to the ordeal!

That isn't what most people in this thread are saying. Lots of guys have gone out and driven dozens of trucks.

I think your mistaken. I think all of these truck have the shake to some degree. Many states don't have any roads where you can drive 75 mph. Many people will never hit the right speed on the right road surface to make the shake bad enough to care. Once you learn how to duplicate the shake, you can probably do it on any of them.

If one brand and size tire will perfectly remove the shake on 100% of the trucks... I would still have fit.

When I bought my truck there was no disclosure that I had to run junk street tires. I bought a 4x4 because, I need 4 wheel drive and a real set of tires. I doubt GM will pay the towing fees to get my truck down my driveway every time it rains.

Well, now you have a truck as smooth as a washboard. A $60K washboard.

New to forum. Did not know about vibration issues when I purchased.

1/4/16. bought new 15 Silverado exetened cab ltz 4x4 6.2. 20" wheels. Live 40 mins from dealer. Msrp 51k paid 38.5k. Did not test drive, 12 miles on it. Drove home was shaking. All tires 5lbs low..

1/5. Next day filled properly. Drove back n forth to work only. 2 miles away.

1/9. Following Sat drove across state and it was bad. My daughter was in back and started feeling sick. Wife in the front same. Could feel the seat vibrating.

1/11. Went to dealer 4 minutes from me and was told I'd have to go where I bought truck. Balancing falls on them but anything else they would take care of. Went to dealer I purchased from. Took me right in.312 miles on it. 2hrs later was told by service tech, could feel it the minute he drove it. RFB all tires and said it's fine. Took a short ride with him and could still feel vibration. He said the tires that are on it are aggressive and that's what I feel.( and said a lot more bs) Done with him, Asked for paperwork and was told its to new for that..had it at this point and walked out. Vibrated all the way home. Got home and noticed grease on door, handle, carpet, mat covered, window frame. Took pics. That night did a search and saw this forum. Wow. Would never bought it. Lesson learn.

1/12 call GM.( very nice person) Explained everything, 3way call with service manager 4 minutes from me and said to bring it in Monday. Said Chevy changed the frame in 2013 and that's when these problems started. Also GM rep said to get paperwork from first dealer.

1/14 picked up paperwork, RFB one tire and had no results of that. Have doc. Really!

1/18 dropped off truck at dealer next to me. 515 miles . Gave him paperwork and told me unfortunately they did nothing to it. Can't submit a claim to GM without results of RFB. Said he would do his best to fix this. Has delt with issue before and has a pico meter. Beyond nice person to talk to and explained in detail what he's gonna do.

1/20 dealer called and getting me a rental. Nothing said so far about truck. Will keep up to date with everything. Hope they can fix it. Really love this truck.. Lot more detail to story but trying to keep it short and to the point.

The people on this thread are the ones who have vibration problems, including myself, that is how I joined this forum because of my vibration problems. In the year and half I have owned my 2014 I have talked to now over a hundred people who have a K2 trucks and none of them said they had a vibration problem. This is people I have talked to on the interstate when getting gas (I am up and down the interstate for my job everyday) where the posted speed limit is 70 and everybody does at least 75. There is also a another thread on who has vibration issues and the majority don't have the problem. My truck still shakes slightly at 72 mph and has random shakes at lower speeds based on the temps and even though it sucks the reality is that myself and others on here are still in the vast minority. Those that test drove a dozen trucks and said they all shake is puzzling and doubtful.

Well, its been a while since I've made an update on the lawsuit I've been working on bringing against GM. I heard back from the lawfirm today, and they too have decided to pass again saying they are too small and have to be very cautious with the contingency cases they take. They recommended that I try to find a much bigger firm to take a class action of this magnitude (basically the smaller to mid-size firms are afraid of the costs that will be associated with the case) Otherwise, he recommended that we all find our own attorneys and bring individual suits against GM. I am going to try a couple more bigger firms in Boston, then if necessary try a few large firms in NYC. Unfortunately if at this point I can't find anyone to take the class action, I am going to have to try to fight for myself and go individually (can't say I didn't try lol). One way or another, I am going to fight GM as best I can on this.

It is really unfortunate to see all of these new people joining after buying these pieces of shit, One way or another, I hope everyone gets some for of resolution for their issues.

Guess so far, knock on wood, I'm one of the lucky ones that hasn't had this problem with my 2015 CC 6.2 LTZ. Just an observation; I've noticed that there hasn't been any comments concerning the truck bed either way about perhaps being a contributor to the vibration problem(s). I have a dealer installed spray-in liner. And, supposedly, it dampen's noise and such. It might be interesting to know whether those trucks with vibration problems have spray-in liners or not. Just noodling.....

I have the spray in bed liner and a soft roll up tonneau

    • Glad it worked for you. I tried that 1st, about 2 years ago. Didn't help. I also tried doing a hard reset (disconnecting battery for minimum of 30 minutes). Worked a couple times, but after one summer of doing it over and over, that no longer worked.  I was fairly confident it was either the compressor or a failed actuator, but I just couldn't identify which one. Had to research which actuators do what and which last numbers are associated with each.
    • Took me FIFTEEN MINUTES to find this. Isn't that a problem? On the mainstream media I can INSTANTLY find 100 articles bashing President Trump ... but when it comes to TRUTH in American corporate news & search engines, it's carefully filtered to support ONE SIDE. A Republic cannot survive like this! Incredible! Even all the AI searchers out there failed as well! ChatGPT said it needed more details on the video that I provided a DIRECT LINK to! I thought AI was the be-all, end-all?? I had to dig it up myself. This should be FRONT PAGE NEWS!!! 🤬   Here's the statement directly from our President:     Glenn Beck's reporting on the operation:   https://glennbeck.com/watch/videos/trump-just-revealed-a-massive-military-secret-that-lowered-gas-prices   In case that link doesn't work, here's the YouTube link:     And another 15 minutes to find this clip out of Glenn Beck's video - the first few seconds is all the corporate media will allow the public to see, since the low IQ people will think Trump said " I love inflation ", and that was the end of it. Taken WAY out of context! Here's that part, plus the 2nd part about the oil smuggling operation:
    • More is cylinder deactivation. Kia-Hyundai Ive had 4. The warranty is the same 10 years 100K miles. My grandson drives the first one 05 Elantra GT. My wife drives the second one 2011 Genesis. The Genesis still performs as new and looks great. The Elantra looks rough. He’s not kind to it. The third was a Genesis coup. The fourth was a Santa Fe. Those were my daily drivers. I don’t keep them long. Kia is the same as Hyundai with the same warranty. I looked at the K-4 today. Too small, otherwise pretty good buy. Most of Hyundai and Kia’s have a performance upgrade.
    • Thanks for the point of reference
    • Great question. Answer....depends. One the volume of the crankcase, the driver that will actually be using the vehicle and the amount it uses plus the distance expected for that next trip. Couple of for instances:   Wife is going to drive Dizzy to Moline and back plus a bit around town so say 500 miles on the day. I know from years with that SUV that around town and local rural it uses about a quart in 1250 miles. But on the Interstate and her at the wheel without her anchor nagging her she'll push it and it will drop a quart in about 800 miles. Hence, around town I wait to somewhere between a quarter down to a quart down. On her trip I'd top it if it was down a few ounces and hope for the best.    Have I overfilled one? You mean by adding before it needs a full quart I assume. No, not once after finding the true fill mark.  I know the dipsticks of everything I drive and add what it needs. I learn this by doing the first oil change a quart low. Run the motor for a few minutes. Let it sit over night. Check and mark. Then add half a cup at a time making note of the place on the stick. I add through the dipstick tube with a barbeque basting bottle. Give it a few minutes to drain down and check again.    A vehicle like Dizzy that uses this much oil will take a few quarts between 3K changes. I keep one in the vehicle with the bottle and a bag. (Mindful of it's fullness) Not a big deal and never makes a mess of it. There is no such thing as "multiple quarts' in my shop for any specific oil. There will be a maximum however of the number of different oils used over the fleet.     Dizzy holds a nominal 5 quarts. So the first fill was indeed over as it actually took 4.75. My vehicles are fit with Valvomax valves so I can meter an ounce on the drain if need be. Found her mark first crack at it. Never to be repeated.    Pepper uses none between changes so I don't keep a quart in that one. Straight up 6 quarts put her dead on the full line. Check it ever fuel stop. They will surprise you when they start using.    Raven holds 3 liters or 5.44 ounces over three quarts. I add 3 quarts and 6 ounces. That gives me 5 oil changes on my orphan quart.    Lawnmower holds about 3/5 of a quart. I don't over fill it to prevent an orphan. So yea, depends.
