Agree with you there Ericruiz911.  Sometimes better to take the loss and be happy.  Like you say every day you don't enjoy the truck.  Let us know the outcome.   I've done that with other things in my life.

For a minute there thought you were referring to my ex-wife, lol!

I have about 45K miles on my 2015 and have as yet not experienced the dreaded Chevy Shake.  It did however come down with the Terrible Torque Converter Shudder around 30K miles.  Dealer performed TSB and so far no more shudder, fingers crossed.

about tires; I replaced OEM Goodyear Wranglers with Michelin LTX Defenders at about 35K miles.  Have to say truck rides better now.  But, I’ve never been happy with the ride of the truck.  However, it is a 4X4 and is on rear leaf springs.  So, have to take that into consideration.  And, factor in that I’m just getting old and grouchy’er, so I’ve been told, lol.  Being that I don’t have any major complaints other than the choppy ride when crossing tar strips in the road and such I’m going to wait till the 2020 comes out and see how it rides.  I’m of the school of never buy the first year model of anything...

You indeed got lucky! Good luck with the new truck. Let us know if it shakes!!!

Thanks! Trust me, I am not leaving with a truck until I get up to 85 on the highway with no shake. Even the slightest vibration will be a no for me. My biggest problem is finding one I like because I really hate the look of the 2019's but it looks like I may go with an all black LT trail boss but we will see. I need to see how it rides first.

Back in the early days of this forum when the posts were coming hot and heavy some of us were betting there would be a thousand pages made before it would shut down.  I’m kinda doubting it will get there.  Traffic has really dropped off.  I know I’ve moved along to the 2019 forum.  Just drop in here every now and then anymore.  Just saying ?

I will say this...I really think GM has screwed the pooch this time around. I know all the brands have problems(foreign and domestic) And most TRY to make it right, But on this one GM has went out of there way to avoid this problem....lying to dealers and customers, and by forcing dealers to do the same! It seems they really stuck it to there Loyal customers this time. And I strongly believe that they wont be able to wait on the next generation to bail them out

I have had a few people message me regarding the process so I am just going to post it here. GM is offering me to get out of my truck and into a new truck off the lot. So what's the catch? Well, I am having to pay almost $3000 out-of-pocket for 'usage'. The formula for this is (miles / 120,000 * purchase price). FYI, the purchase price is NOT the price after incentives, its the MSRP without them, go figure. So right off the bat, I am out $3000. I am allowed to trade into a truck with the same, or less, MSRP as my truck when I purchased it. If the MSRP of the new truck is more than my old one, I must pay the difference + taxes on the difference. What sucks is that the all LT models are now in the $50k range with basic options so it looks like I would have to put more out-of-pocket if I want to get into a 2019 with similar options. With that said, I have yet to completely accept the offer because I am trying to figure out how I can make this work without screwing me. Also found out that this process will take about another 2 months so I can't even find a truck on the lot and leave a down payment. I will just have to hope there is a truck I like sitting on that lot in 2 months and is within budget. Because of this, I tried to pre-order a truck with my configuration that also stays within budget. The dealership said all I need is GM to agree to letting me wait on a new truck because the new truck would take 10 weeks to deliver. He said GM has done it before, but its not a common request.

With what I know now, I advise you to open a BBB case ASAP with the lowest possible miles as soon as you feel your truck is a lemon and will qualify for days out of service or repair attempts. I would have saved myself a lot of cash because they go off the mileage you entered during the initial BBB case opening and then lock in that mileage once the is settled. Doesn't matter if you add another 10k miles until you get your new truck, you're locked into the mileage entered on the BBB case during initial filing.

Hope this helps.

This mirrored my experience exactly. It was balancing all along, and after 7 trips to the dealer and over 40 days in the shop, a Hunter tech got mine right on the first try. My truck is smooth as glass now (2,000 miles and counting). The only thing I feel now is the road on the highway, a slight buzz/tingle in my hands anytime I’m going over 73. The Goodyear SRAs have something to do with that road feel, in my opinion. Mine seem to flatspot overnight in the cold weather here in Michigan and it takes about 10 miles for them to warm up and smooth out. A set of Michelin LTXs should alleviate that when I’m due for new treads, but I’m too cheap to drop $1,000 on tires on a truck with only 6,000 miles.

Either way, in short, mine is WAY better now. I am convinced GM techs have no idea what they’re doing unless something throws a code and tells them exactly what the problem is.

Same here, truck always had a shake around 75ish. Got a little more pronounced after I did a rear flip kit, changed to shorter rear shocks & put on 22's.. Finally after about a year of dealing with it, I decided to take it to my buddy who is a GM tech & has been using the hunter machines since they came out. He road force balanced my cheap Ironman 305/40/r22 tires & I tightened the rear shock bolts up again for good measure. Shake is gone & I dont hate driving my truck anymore.. Buddy said these trucks & the C7 vettes, depending on what suspension setting its on,  are very finicky with rear shocks & needing roadforce balancing.

New member here--Just bought a new 2018 Silverado 1500 W/T model regular cab long bed. Got on the highway to take it home and it immediately started vibrating at about 63 mph and above, felt it in the steering wheel and the center console module. Doesn't always do it at that speed depending on the road surface texture but it does it more than half the time.

Took it back in for service  with about 200 miles showing on the odometer and they road force balanced the tires and told me to put a couple hundred more miles on it in case the tires needed to round back out from sitting on the dealer's lot,it was manufactured 3/18 and it has General Grabber HTS 255/70/17 tires.

Service writer said if there's still a problem call them and they will order 3 new tires. I asked him why only 3 new tires instead of 4,doesn"t make sense to make sense to me.

He said that 3 of the tires were near high end of limit but 4th tire wasn't and GM won't let them order it. Also looked like they had one of the "junior" mechanics working on it.

I've put 250 miles on it since and there's still a problem so I'll have to call them and tell them to order the tires and probably have to argue about getting the 4th one.

I've read the last 20 pages of this thread so I'm not getting my hopes up that new tires will solve the problem. Any suggestions on how to deal with this if the new tires don't do the trick?

Also noticed that extended or crew cab models seem to be mentioned the most in the pages I've read. Does this problem seem to crop up in the regular cab long beds much ? Other than the vibration problem the truck is pretty much what I've expected for a low end trim model.

Thanx,

Ive posted in here before and had the Chevy Shake on my 14 with stock chrome LTZ 20s and stock tires. Went to bilstein shocks no change, went to ko2s and method nv's shake changed but still there. Recently traded that setup for stock 20 All Terrain on Nitto Terra Grapplers and 90% of shake is gone. Cant explain it but truck has never been this smooth at hwy speeds.

I too have been fighting the shake.  When I purchased the truck it immediately went back for the shake and had two tires replaced that wouldn't RFB.  It helped, but there was still a shake that could be felt above 60.  When I took it in last time for it's first service I mentioned the shake again.  They really screwed up and gave me an '18 LT loaner that had Michelin tires (New OEM's that replaced alternate to the Good Year tires) on it that rode smooth as glass.  I called the Service Writer and told him if they couldn't get the shake out of my LTZ truck and make it ride better than the LT loaner, I wanted the wheels and tires off the loaner put on my truck for a week.  They RFB'd my tires again and I was told 'One had thrown a weight (not buying that line of crap) and one was able to be RFB'd from a 14 to a 10', whatever that means.

Whatever was done, helped tremendously.  There isn't a shake now until I push the truck well north of 85MPH.

I'd say definitely stay after it and do not take no for an answer.  Keep having them RFB the tires and maybe you'll eventually get a Tech that knows how to properly use the machine.

I actually thought about filling the frame with Great Stuff  haha..   maybe that would dampen things.

Anyone with vibration issues have problems with the forward shaft (on 4 wheel drive versions)?

    • Thanks for all the help so far!   I did try right from 2026 right down to 2021, and only from 2023 down lets me select the option for tire psi change, but I get the vehicle not supported error!   I'll definitely try it under Chevrolet after work today, and I'll get the sensor number from gm for my truck tire sensors. And I'll let you know if it works for me under Chevrolet!   And if that doesn't work, I'm going to guess that what @Atlas said about maybe I have a different body control module could be true!
    • From where I'm sitting this sounds like a compatibility problem. I'm assuming the 2007 was a 900-series truck, and not an 800-series (they were sold side-by-side in dealerships that model year), since it starts and runs.   This is why I HATE post-2006 vehicles. Everything becomes a huge problem when you try to keep the thing running for longer than the manufacturer has designed it to.    I can't remember when Global-A architecture started - either '10 or '11. For your sake, you had better hope it's '11, or you're going to be spending some BIG money to correct this cluster-eff. That's something you need to find out before doing anything else. You may have several computers bricked ... but the fact that it runs tells me you MIGHT be ok here.     EDIT: Just did a quick refresher. You're screwed. This is Global-A. The 2 systems are NOT compatible in the slightest. Once you get the correct engine in there that IS compatible, you're going to need to see how many computers are locked. Absolute NIGHTMARE to straighten out, too. Your buddy might be better off cutting his losses and finding something else.   Welcome to post-2006 vehicle electronics. This is why I quit the industry, and drive nothing built after 1994. This stuff takes all the fun out of wrenching!

    • True, hard to say what differences there may or may not be between Chev and GM as well as a production year or mid year part change either.    I just found it odd that under the Sierra choice on the Autel that many of the last few years of production year did not include the choice of changing the tire pressure but if that is an Autel thing or a GM thing as to why the choices were not there. Knowing what tpms sensors are on the truck should give some guidance into which choices on the tool even make sense to try as I wouldn't give up just yet with the tool but I guess he will see what if anything he comes up with if he finds out a bit more info and tries a few more things on the Autel.
    • I'm sure if you went to a junkyard where you go in and pull the part off the truck yourself, not a used part place where they do it for you, you can get that part on it's own.  Depending on if and what else you would be buying, and time of day, they might even just skip over adding it as a item to the bill.
