LIVE REVIEW: 2014 GMC Sierra SLT Z71

Hello,

 

Not trying to step on Zane's toes or anything but since he is out of town and he only has this truck for a limited time I'd be happy to take any pictures or answer any questions about the Sierra. I have a 2014 Sierra SLT equipped as follows:

 

Navigation
Bose sound system
22" 6-spoke Chrome wheels (SEY)
Black Leather
Front buckets
Preferred Package
Power Sunroof
Z-71

3.42 gears

Quicksilver Metallic

 

Like I said not looking to step on any toes just trying to help everyone out that might be interested in buying one.

who would have ever thought OEM would be making 22in rims. Seemed like yesterday the tallest rim was 15in. Remember when 22in rims were only for rappers? I bet they are up to 28 or 30in by now.....

And how does the Bose system sound in the new trucks? There were a good many complaints about the Bose in the previous few model years (at least that I've read in the Audio section). Never had it in any of my trucks. I've only driven LTs with aftermarket systems.

Yes those are the stock tires. They are Bridgestone Dueler A/T's. 285/45/22. The extra money for the rims was well worth it IMO just to get rid of the crappy Goodyear's that only last 15k-20k. I have a buddy that has over 50k on the exact same Bridgestone's.

 

Honestly I love the Bose system. I mean it's not the best stereo system I've ever had in a car (I've had some that cost $3k-$4k) but it's excellent for a "factory" system. Really good highs. Good bass. Good mids. I can't find too much to complain about with it and I'm picky about my stereo systems. My point of frustration is the Intellink system. It has a ton of lag when switching songs using an iPod and according to the Intellink help line if there's an update you have to make an appointment at the dealership to have the update for the radio applied. Just seems kinda dumb. Let us do it with the SD card slot for Pete's sake...

The paint seems to have orange peel in every close-up shot I have seen of the K2XXs, especially around the tailgate. Did you notice this on your demo truck?

My brother noticed the same thing with the new Impala's. Lots of orange peel..can't justify that on such a big investment $$ wise..

I notice it on certain panels and not on others. The hood for example is like a mirror while the doors seem to have some orange peel. I do have to say that it's not anywhere near as bad as the orange peel was on my 06 Cobalt SS.

 

On another note I'm planning on trying to take a few pictures of my Sierra tomorrow. If there are any photo requests post them here and I'll do my best to get them for you.
