So I went to the local custom shop to tint my windows. The guy said he couldn't do it because my truck was, "too new and he couldn't find videos for how to remove the door panels" anyone else having this problem or know of a place in mid Missouri that does quality tinting?

Who removes door panels to tint???

+1 I don't understand why they would need to remove the door panels.

I honestly don't know why they'd need to either. He told me he didn't want to unscrew the panel and risk breaking it. I'm sure I can find a different shop that will do it.

Because a lot of tint company's like to remove the sweep and to do that you have to pull the top part of the panel. It allows them to apply the tint easier near bottom of window and come out nicer.

Must be lazy. Just tuck the strip under, apply the tint, allow it to dry, then roll the window down/up. Done. Don't be taking the panels off. No reason.

Go to another shop, this guy doesn't know what he's doing. "taking off door panels?! would've been the red light right there, and a green light to get the hell out of there!"

I recently had my windows tinted, flawless job and never removed anything. Like everyone else said, try somewhere else.

Guy came to the house & tinted them in my driveway, no door panels removed, 30-45 minutes and that was it......

Same here on my camaro. Ensures you get the tint installed correctly every place or installer who has done mine has just popped the trim. Don't worry about it not a big deal

I got mine tinted and the installer did remove the door panels to, as Ryan said, insure that the entire window is tinted properly. Looks great. There is already a thread about window tint on the 2014s though. You may be able to find someone from your area in that thread

Removing the window sweep trim makes for a much cleaner install and a tint job that will last the life of your vehicle. That is EASILY achieved on our trucks. 1 screw behind door handle trim. Start from forward portion of panel at the top edge and pull out. Then remove the sweep. Panel does not require removal. Tint and reinstall...
