Painted front bumpers: durability ?

Recommended Posts

Gents, I wanted to ask a question regarding the painted front bumpers on models like the:. Sierra All Terrain, Denali, or Elevation models. I

guess the Silverado LTZ models would fall into this category as well.  I really like the look of the " one color monochromatic paint".  Have any of you used the 3M wrap on the front bumper for stone chips, just for extra protection in general ?  How have they been holding up ?

thanks in advance

There are a few threads here discussing clear bras. I would suggest getting one. Had lots of chips on my bumper in just a few months. Installed Xpel paint protection film over a year and a half ago. No chips since. I've got pics posted in the other threads, as do others if you want to see how it looks.

I have a black all terrain and my front bumper has 100's of chips. Some are quite small and others are close to dime size. I have touched up the larger ones over the years but wish I would have done the clear bra. From the bumper up the paint looks pretty good. Almost like the paint on the bumper is not as durable.

Had the clear plastic wrap done complete front end , including tops of mirrors. rocker panels. and painted rear bumper. had the truck 1 month here in upstate NY ended up with a few chips in Dec. had it done. wasn't cheep . But I think well worth it...

You will absolutely want to wrap the painted front end on these trucks. I had XPEL ultimate applied to my 2017 midnight edition 2 days after I bought it. Compared to a friend of mine who didn't wrap his the difference is night and day. 7 months later, mine still looks new and his is loaded with chips on the front bumper. Both trucks are black.

Price was about $800 including tax. They covered the bumper, parts of the grille, 18" up the hood, leading 6 or 8" of the front quarter panels and back side of mirrors.

Well worth it.
