Same problem on 2023 GMC 2500HD. With posts going back 3years you would think they would have an idea what's wrong. My 2018 never did it.

I am having an issue on 21 GMC Sierra. My entertainment screen completely resets its self.  Dealer charged me $150 for a software update.  I checked software before taking it in and already had done the updates.  They couldn’t even tell me what they updated.  I am 2k miles out of warranty.  Trying not to blow the bank for this issue.  Did anyone get a resolution or am I screwed?

I have a 2023 silverado ZR2 with 900 miles on it. My entire screen will just go black mid phone call and then say system rebooting. I take it there is still no fix for this?

According to recent reports, the way GM is fixing the problem is by eliminating the interface entirely in future vehicle... making Google's Android their default operating system and disabling both Car Play and Android Auto.

@GMCustomerService  This is absolutely ridiculous that this issue is happening period!  I have a 2022 Trail Boss and no matter what music provider  /  medium is being used it constantly has dead spots and now I'm getting the rebooting or restarting message in my infotainment screen! Not what I expect for 70K truck - maybe a Yugo or a entry level KIA but a coworker that has a KIA doesn't have this issue.  I came back to Chevrolet from Dodge because of the refresh but this has me doubting my decision it's completely unacceptable for the price paid for my vehicle.

so a update my issue with the radio & cluster going bat ****** crazy in the previous posted video, the problem got worse since then and progressed to the entire screen/hvac/cluster shutting off & on

gave it to the dealer and left it a couple days. they determined it was a bad alternator making a voltage spike and causing the bcm to trigger the ignition causing the problems

I have several aftermarket mods/accessories installed so GM wouldn't cough up for the 2hrs diagnostic time but they did cover the alternator.

the tech wrote:

voltage spiking bcm opening ignition relay, remainder of entertainment and information modules erratic communication, found 100-800mil second 18+voltage spike with cold engine operation, isolated.

I just picked it up and on the drive home it worked fine, I am going to take a nice long road trip on Sunday and I will report back if the problem returns.

Hello,

Just wondering if you ever had the problem with your radio and cluster after the dealer replaced the alternator?

I've had my dealership replace all the grounds, radio module, intellilink module and screen and I still have a problem when the weather is cold. Radio clock and tune flash on the screen and there is no sound or controls at all until the clock and tune stop flashing.

I saw your post and was going to ask my dealer to check the alternator on my truck, but before I did I wanted to ask if that fixed your problem.

no problems like I was having before since replacing the alternator, but my problem was very rare, recently my radio sometimes stay's on after I remove the key and have opened and shut the door, sometimes if I unlock it the radio will come on and sometimes if i put the key in to do something and then exit it will play for a while kind of weird I am thinking it has something to do with the ignition switch because I can make it stop doing it by putting the key back in and removing it again. I even video recorded it playing the radio for a couple minutes with no key in it and all doors opened and closed several times.

My 2019 Silverado W/T has this same issue, ever since I got it. Sometimes the screen randomly goes black. Sometimes the volume goes up really loud for a fraction of a second, then comes back down. Sometimes the touchscreen freezes, and you can't do anything. (Though the hard buttons still work) Sometimes the radio stays on after turning the car off and opening the door. I see, apparently everyone is having this problem. I knew it wasn't the hardware, because anyone who's got it swapped out continues to have the problem. Is there a solid solution yet? I've only got 20K miles on my truck now and have been dealing with this for 3 years. Never seen this in my life. I have to chuckle when people say the dealer never heard of this, when literally everyone has the issue. LOL. And here I actually bought the Silverado, because it had a decent size screen in the work truck trim. I had a bigger 8" screen in my cheap little Buick Encore and it never had an issue like this. Not a blip.

Does Alpine make a unit that'll drop in? Does GM step up and do something for us?

2023 RST Center Screen Goes Black and Restarts While Driving

Everyday..  The screen goes black, then displays “System Starting…”.

I get an audio dropout before this happens.  Audio dropouts are common, but only some result in this restart.

I have been using apple carplay, FM radio, anything when the issue is happening.

Lots of issues reported here with no real resolution.  Sad that I even have to deal with the frequent (every couple minutes) audio dropouts but the screen restart is a whole new level.

Any fix that worked?

2023 Silverado, 2 months old, and already having all the issues described in this thread: Random reboots, freezing, faulty updates. It rebooted twice during a 5 minute phone call. For a $60K brand new vehicle that has been in production a few years, not having and/or implementing a solution is unacceptable.

There are a million things that could be faulty. Your dealer tech needs to do some diagnosis and contact the technical services available to them. Its hard to find service depts that handle electronics properly. You may want to start with dealing only with the service manager. I think part of the problem is that the dealer model for diagnostic time discourages techs from really digging in to issues and doing the hard work.

    • Hello All!   My 2019 Colorado 3.6 LT, 4WD Crew Cab has approximately 77,500 miles and I recently began experiencing the well-known transmission shudder between about 30 and 65 mph. The problem had worsened to the point that I could no longer attribute it to road conditions - and I had decided to bring the truck to the dealer - when recently, I experienced a sudden loss of power while driving at maybe 40 MPH. Several warning lights flashed, the “Check Stabilitrack” message appeared, and the Check Engine, Stabilitrack, and Traction Control icons remained illuminated. The truck regained driving power, but it stayed in a low gear with unusually high RPMs for the speed. (limp mode?) Because I was only about two miles from home, driving slowly, I was able to make it back and run an OBD-II scan, which showed fault codes U0101, P0700, and U0100. My next trip in the truck was to drive it to the dealer the following day. That trip began normally, but after about a mile I experienced another loss of power, along with the same warning lights and the same “Check Stabilitrack” message. As before the truck remained driveable, but again operated at an abnormally high RPM-to-speed ratio and seemed stuck in a single gear. About a mile later, the dashboard lit up once more, this time displaying “Check 4WD.” Soon after that, I arrived at the dealer. I have verified that the truck still has its original factory transmission fluid, which means it has never received the corrective fluid exchange outlined in GM Technical Service Bulletin #18-NA-355.  That was Thursday of last week and I've heard nothing yet from the dealer.    According to Technical Service Bulletin #18-NA-355 and the build date of my truck, my truck should have the newer LV fluid. I've done a little research and read something about a problem with the wiring harness as well.   Anyone have an insights into this situation?  Thank you!!

    • Did you even read this article?   Even the title of the article says "U.S.-Iran Deal Doesn’t Mean a Swift Return of Oil and Gas Flows"   Remember, crude oil prices are based on FUTURE purchases by the oil companies.  Gas prices are based on FUTURE purchases by the station.  This article stated that many of the oil producing nations have to restart their processes to get the oil produced.  Then the oil has to be shipped to wherever.  And it doesn't get there overnight.  And most of that oil is not coming here. Check out this site:  https://afdc.energy.gov/data/10621   A graph will pop up to show where the US imports their oil from.  Notice that there isn't a lot of import from OPEC and Iraq.  Most of the US import comes from Canada. The US oil produces are selling their oil on the open market, which is why the US fuel costs went up.  So you're correct, the US oil companies are going to slow walk the price downward.
