Hey Mike,

I had the bridgestones put on my truck this morning and it didn't fix mine either. I too am waiting to hear back from Jeff for the next step. I have a vibration in 8 cylinder mode and it gets a whole lot worse in 4 cylinder mode, and they want me to buy a $200 aftermarket module to disable the 4 cylinder mode...I don't think so, maybe they should fix their own problems!

Sorry for you brother, this entire process is so frustrating. I am dealing with GM now, Dealership pretty much said they can not do anything more for me and directed me to go to GM. We talked on friday, idk what the ultimate result is going to be yet, but tomorrow is the day I hope this will all be resolved.

Idk if I asked you this yet, but when was your truck built, mine was june 2013. Just curious

Took my truck in to dealer yesterday for the shaking and found the 2 rear tires were bad. Funny thing is that out of the 3 new tires they had in stock, only 1 was good wtf  . I have to take it back to get the other bad tire replaced. Don't know what is going on with this issue, will see what happens.

this right here is why I replace OEMs on my own dime ASAP, if not the same day I pick up the ride. Life is too short and the cost of good non-OEMs is nothing compared to what one throws at GM for the ride. Only exception to this rule is if the ride comes with Michelins. Then just to my friend Ted for trueing and high speed balance on the car/truck.

can someone tell me why the 5.3L engine is now on restriction? Thought I may look into a high country build (different suspension) but the 5.3L from what I understand is on restriction

Anyone have any more info on this? I did a search and can't find anything but I'm very curious.

Mine was built in June as well and I had the vibration. I have the 20 in polished wheels and gy ls2 rubbers. Dealer road forced them and one came back at 41 something when 18 is the limit? Idk what that means but I'm happy now. New tire now and NO vibration all the way to 85 MPH. I didn't go faster BC it was only there between 72-80 mph.

Yeah door jam, area behind the door, i guess the sill, or threshold. must be a new england thing

What is "on restriction"?

What is "on restriction"?

Generally means what is holding up a vehicle from being built from either parts shortages or changes to previously published option availability when an order is placed.

Hey Mike,

Let me know what they say tomorrow. Where do I find the build date?

Have to wait till the end of the week, most likely next week to get everything figured out. Service manager is away and general sales manager is in Russia watching the olympics.

was there any improvement at all from the new tires?

My build date is July, the tires didn't do anything to improve it.

So Jeff is away? I've left 2 messages and no one calls back or tells me that he's away, such good service!

How bad is this vibration you guys are talking about. Just drove my truck over 75 mph for the first time and I had a little vibration. Nothing too serious. Does it get worse with time? I felt most of the vib in the steering wheel, seat didn't shake or anything.

I have 688 miles and the Goodyear 20" sra's.

Yes it will get worse... at first i thought it was just the road... but learned after a couple thousand miles that it gets ever so slightly worse and worse...you'll probably hear a barely audible reverb in the cab too (like a sunroof is barely open) if you turn your radio off... It bugs the snot out of me.. Ive got a Luandry list of issues with mine and will be dropping it off at the dealer and WILL NOT accept it back until EVERYTHING is fixed.

    • I agree.   However, the owner's manual, suggests that a drop over full is just as bad as a drop under. (Read black and white letters only, insert no common sense.)
    • That P0700 and loss of power suggests something significant is amiss to me.   More/other codes may suggest otherwise; I would investigate those prior to spending the money to change fluid on a transmission with a bad torque converter.    The relatively sudden escalation of symptoms to me suggests that something began failing (initial shuddering experienced) and rapidly deteriorated (slipping/loss of power). Fluid condition alone wouldn't cause the sudden escalation of problems - though it might have been the cause of the deterioration up to the point of failure.
    • Stabilitrack operation is in a sense a separate/independent operation from the operation of 'traction control'. Stabilitrack is used to keep the vehicle traveling in the DIRECTION intended, it can brake independent wheels and or adjust throttle to influence the direction the vehicle is moving.   This can be illustrated by a 'fish-tailing' example. At high speeds, if the stabilitrack detects excessive yaw (the vehicle spinning like a top, it has a sensor for this), based on inputs from steering angle it determines that the vehicle is spinning out of control, and begins working to control that unintended spin. By reducing throttle input or braking specific wheels to control or prevent the spin.   The traction control works similarly using the ABS system to slow spinning wheels and thus transfer power to 'other' wheels. The goal being to achieve wheel speeds that are all in agreement with each other, the truck then assumes that since all the wheels speeds are the same no spinning is occurring. For example, launching up a wet boat ramp, there is no excessive yaw present, traction control alone can manage the wheel spin by braking spinning wheels and cutting throttle.   Stabilitrack and traction control from a hardware and software standpoint are basically one in the same, I don't remember specifically in 2004, but you couldn't get a truck with one and not the other. The switch on the dash, could turn off the traction control, but not necessarily the stabilitrack.    A confusing comment about stabilitrack vs. traction control, the same components serve both operations, but marketing could advertise them as two separate features.    The AWD system is another separate system entirely, in addition to the other two, it uses the same wheel speed inputs but can also vary the transfer case clutch application to direct some power to the front axle, working in conjunction with the traction control to bring wheel speeds together.   The power split will never be greater than 50:50, the same as 4-high. It will never direct MORE power to the front axle than the rear.
    • Not based on the new photos I'm seeing.  Car and Driver posted additional photos that shows an auto stop start button left of the steering wheel.
    • Car and Driver is reporting wireless CarPlay WILL remain, and they posted several additional photos, including a left knee shot, but the only hard buttons there are e-brake, auto start stop, tailgate and cargo light.  Also definitely looks like High Country and ZR2 get micro fiber on the center of the console lid and the ZR2 possibly also on the seats.
