telling people to go ahead and buy GM made trucks now is like telling someone to go bobbing for apples in a toilet and hope they find the one apple that's in there

That's funny, you made it apparent that you have a shaking problem and you don't like how high your truck is. I feel bad for you really. I stand by the fact the my truck is the best truck or car Ive ever bought, I have had many new and used. High end and work trucks. I buy at a discount or I don't buy for the purpose of if I don't like I can exchange quick. Im not going to drive something I hate for any reason, if your stuck in a ride you hate its your own fault. Trade it in, it may cost you a grand or two a least you wouldn't keep coming here and bad mouthing a product that lot of us think is a home run by GM.

Finallytook my leveling kit off and had my truck re-aligned. I delivered it to the dealer again. Service manager drove truck and then called me and asked me to come up there and drive it due to the speed i feel vibrations at 70+. He said they cant go that fast and gm will not allow it. So i come to dealer and the service manager is nice to me and feels the problem when we reached the speed. He said man it does it every time!. He calls the gm regional repair guy and he wants him to look at the engine bay. Now I do have an Air raid jr on the truck. So the service manager calls to tell me to put the stock resonator back on as well as the front air dam. That that could be the whole problem! SERIOUSLY!!! THE RESONATOR! AIR DAM!. Are causing all the shaking in the cab that is to be coming from the back of the truck. What a joke. They also told me that when the engineer comes i will have to drive him around also because of the speed the vibrations are felt. Really GM what the F$@# are you guys doing???

On a lighter funnier note, when i uploaded my videos to youtube, youtube sent me message that said we detected your videos might be shaky. Let us straighten them out lol

really? lol

the average loss on a brand new low mileage less then a year old truck trade in is around $8,000-$12,000 depending on the truck, that's about 25% loss. in my case its a minimally equipt work truck so its a loss of $6,800 on a $30,150 truck or 22.55%

its great that you are so rich and think nothing of setting fire to such an amount of money and again its great that you are so rich you can afford to buy disposable trucks you toss aside or trade in at 25% loss if they have issues, the rest of us who live in the "real" world aren't as fortunate as you are to be able to do that, especially in this economy.

while you are going around telling people to buy these lemons all in the hope they "might" just get a good one, do you even care you are actively trying to talk them into buying defective products hoping to "just get lucky"? I doubt it.

you are like a guy selling tickets on the titanic and saying "don't worry, some of you will find lifeboats" just because you are in denial about the quality of these trucks does not mean you are right to tell others to ignore good sense.

so tell me, when you cause people to get screwed over to you feel the least bit guilty in talking them into buying a lemon just because you want to pimp GM trucks? are you getting kickbacks for doing it?

really I want to know why you feel duty bound to go around giving bad advice talking people into buying defective trucks and risking getting screwed.

im not saying every truck is bad but with one out of 5 being vibrators those odds dictate being far too high to honestly recommend anyone take such a chance unless they are a person like you who buys many disposable trucks they can afford to buy enough to get lucky on a few that are worth keeping

Rich hardly, I own a 05,11 Hyundais, 01 Acura, 92 Chevy, 14 GMC, when I buy at a discount its called being a smart shopper. My 11 Geneses was 10K off, it was a left over. My GMC was on the lot 120 days, I saved 12K on 12/31/13,that put it at blue book trade in for a 13 model same options. I like to trade often so over the years I learned to be a smart car shopper so I wouldn't go broke. Again sorry you got a bad one that doesn't mean most did. I would say its a good truck to anyone that asks.

this isn't about my truck or my situation, that's my own business to deal with.

its about giving good advice (or bad advice) to others and if a large portion of people buying new trucks are getting stuck with lemons, like is happening now, then any reasonable person would advise others to wait until the situation is resolved rather then risk getting screwed over, its as simple as that.

My ex son in law is the one I bought my GMC from he works at a large GMC, Hyundai dealership. I bought my last few cars and trucks there, its not as bad a deal as you make it. I get free truck washes there almost every weekend, I just don't go by his word I ask in the waiting area. With free oil changes I see lots of new truck owners, they pretty much all are happy with their 14 GM trucks.

well maybe you should talk to GM about it because GM public relations and advertising declares that they have an 80% satisfaction rate so do the math, 8 out of 10 or 1 out of 5 new truck owners are NOT satisfied with their trucks.

now it is undeniable that GM has a vested interest in putting a good spin on things and even they say one out of every 5 trucks have issues, that's not opinion or feelings, that is a fact as declared by GM itself no matter how much you wish to deny this reality.

there are many on these forum who took bad advice from people saying the problems are not that bad and these people have gotten a second and third vibrating trucks from GM and I know a guy who ended up with 4 bad trucks in a row and even one guy who is on his 5th truck and its a vibrating lemon as well so its irresponsible to be telling people these problems are rare and its safe to go buy a GM truck because they are very common and the odds are high against getting a good one.

I have followed this thread from pretty much the beginning. Like many have said I think we have at least 3 different issues or causes for vibration in these things with varying degrees of success and failures to fix.

I have had my truck now for 8 months or so and I have had a slight vibration in the steering wheel and seat of the pants at hwy speeds of 60mph and up. (bust most noticeable in the steering wheel) What's weird is that it varies wildly to OMG this thing sucks to man this truck is soooo smooth and nice to drive. I can't really say what triggers the difference for sure but do know in the past it has been most noticeable after sitting overnight. Very strong vibes first thing in the morning but smooths out considerably by the time I get to work. Temps hadn't seemed to affect it enough consistently to say that it had an effect one way or the other.

What's even weirder is that here this past week I don't know what has happened but my truck all of a sudden, consistently even, stopped 99% of all vibes I feel. I don't know why but it's awesome! However I do feel it will come back here soon....probably as I type this out.

I am not a mechanic but to me that would lead me to believe that it's not necessarily mechanical in my case since it's not consistent and it changes so drastically from one day to the next. Even to the point of it being completely gone some days. Thoughts?

I really think mine is tires related but kind of uneasy about sinking 1K into some Michelins in hopes that it completely solves my issue.

On edit: My vibes are not near as bad as the videos I have seen posted here by other members.

I am in the same boat as you ... my vibes were never that bad but I could feel them intermittenly ... I know for a fact that some of the shake was the AFM kicking in when driving at lower speeds. I just hit 3000 miles and my truck is 95% free of vibration. Not sure what happen, maybe the transmission finally got past the leaning stage or the motor is starting to break in. I do drive in M5 when not on the highway but thats just so the AFM doesn't engage. It seems to be getting smoother as I put on the miles .. go figure ?

thanks for the replies guys. i got too scared. called my salesperson and told him not to order the truck about an hour before he planned to. not sure what i will do now. may still order but want to be sure of it first. only reasons i wanting to is to get a crew vs extended cab and get something besides black.

Same situation here also, never bad vibes but more noticeable at times than others.

OEM tires suc bad. Not saying the michelins this will fix your problem 100% but I know that mine is doing much better with the new tires. Completely cured the square tire syndrome that one poster mentioned above LOL. My truck with the OEM 20in GoodYear SRAs when first getting on the highway would shake like the tires were flatspotted. I drive pretty aggressively but I have never locked the brakes up at over 150 mph like the guys on the track so no reason for the tire shake other than the OEM tires are crap git rid of them QUICK and live happier. What is 1k man? just a few tanks of gas and dinner out a few nights. I thought everyone was on a diet after first of year anyway and gas price has gone down. Get you a set of Michelins (he says as he opens his ameritrade account and buys michelin stock)

I just Had LT Michelins installed on my truck and it feels and handles much better. However I do still have a 45-55mph vibration that is only felt in the steering wheel.

I purchased a set of BF's and they handle much better, but it didn't cure my 43-48mph vibe.

I have programmed afm off, balanced tires, replaced tires, checked the backlash on the ring gear(in spec), and nothing has fixed it. It's not bad, and I have chosen to live with it for now, or until a cure is found or acknowledged.

I'm not gonna let the dealer throw parts at what is obviously a variable issue between trucks, and the service dept have no idea what to do other than what a bulletin tells them to....trained monkeys for the most part. So few mechanics left these days.

I took delivery of my factory order Sierra 1500 Denali right before Christmas and noticed a slight vibration at highway speeds. My truck has the stock 20in wheels with the (less than stellar) Goodyear LS2s. Took it into the dealer this morning, and they force balanced the tires. Now, here is the kicker. They've had several complaints about this, and so they use a force limit setting on the Hunter9700 that makes it more sensitive to problems to prevent repeat complaints. I think they said it was a value of 15lbs instead of the default of 30lbs? I do remember them saying GM doesn't want them to use a value that low, but they still do it to make customers happy. At any rate, using that value, they were able to find one tire was out of round that the default value would have let slide. They replaced the tire, and now vibration is gone.

So if you've had your tires force balanced and still have vibrations, check to see what value they used. If its the default like GM wants, see if they will change it to be more sensitive to tire or wheel dimension problems. Hopefully this info helps someone else in time and money.

    • Can anyone explain why the oil pressure runs higher after the DFM is shut off?  just installed the Pulsar Lt.
    • Thanks!  I figured as such; GM and other manufacturers have used standard parts and harnesses across trim levels and such for decades.  I pulled the blank accessory cover off of my commuter van (a 2016 or so Chevy 15-passenger) years ago and found the plug for a USB outlet.  It wasn't connected to anything, though (I tried swapping in an outlet from another van).  I was a GM Tech years ago (late-90s) and was pretty familiar with my 2006.  I might be wrong, but I view newer vehicles (pretty much anything made in the past 20 years) as being a lot more plug and play.  Meaning, more unused wires and plugs unless you have the Mack Daddy of vehicles.
    • not all plugs will be used.  gm uses more generic harnesses that support most/all options, and if your truck doesn't have a specfiic option, the plug won't be used (commonly will have a dummy insert in the plug , or it'll be taped up, but some may just be left as is).  But it's sldo possible some p.o. has installed the wrong/cheaper parts that aren't correct for your vehicle...
    • First off, I'm not trying to just get easy advice/fixes for the issues I've noticed so far.  I'll be combing through the site via searches and such, and if past experiences are any indication, should find what I need.  For the sake of conversation, though, I figured I'd post the handful of things I've noticed in the 12 hours since buying my 2010 SLE CCSB.     Indicator lights: Airbag and TPMS.  The tire pressures aren't reading for any of the wheels, so I'm pretty certain the sensors were either removed, are damaged, or are otherwise inoperable.  I used to mount and balance tires 25 years ago but am pretty much ignorant when it comes to TPMS.  My 2006 didn't have the sensors and this might be the fourth vehicle I've owned that does.     Radio: Rear speakers aren't working.  I removed the driver's side rear door panel and checked the speaker and wiring.  I also removed the sill and b-pillar covers to check the wiring.  A few minutes of Google Fu showed that this is potentially a head unit issue.    Switches: Power mirrors don't turn left/right.  I ordered replacement driver's door switches that should arrive tomorrow.  The windows and locks work but it was only about $20 for all of them.  The driver's side rear window switch lets the window down but won't put it back up.  I think the passenger rear doesn't work at all.  In the coming days/weeks, I'll break out my multimeter to check all of that.   Unknown wiring harness: There's a box attached to the front driver's side of the engine compartment, right where the second battery shelf is located.  There are three plugs, one of which looks like it fits a standard headlight-style bulb (9007 or similar).  It doesn't look like it's plugged into anything.  I'll do some digging and if I don't see anything elsewhere on the site, post some pictures here.   Unknown plugs on brake booster: There are at least two female plugs on the brake booster that aren't being used.  I think it might be a replacement/aftermarket, so maybe those are used for a different application, as there don't seem to be any unplugged harnesses and no indicator lights are on.   Little squeaks when turning: Sounds almost like a bushing around the bed of the truck.  I'll have to pay close attention as I get more familiar with the truck.   Clunk on acceleration: possibly the infamous drivetrain clunk.  My 2006 had it and I'm just not familiar enough with this truck yet to fully grasp what it is.   Anyway, my apologies for the vague and all over the place post.  This truck is new to me, and it's been four years since I drove my 2006.  With 200k miles, I know I'll need to learn this truck quickly to avoid having any major issues, despite being confident it's got much more life to it.  My 2006 had nearly 320k on it when I parked it (nearly 300k of which I put on the truck), and it was still drivable then, though I suspected the head gasket might have blown.  I'd hoped to have that truck back by now, but it's gone forever, as I detailed in my reintroduction thread.
