Great Post !

I also STRONGLY suggest to keep a log of every conversation with dates and times along with the names

of the contacts.

So a week ago (Wednesday) I emailed the service manager at my dealership to ask about getting my free oil change, tire rotation, and also about looking at my freeway speed vibration and tried to explain in some detail what I was experiencing. I used the same e-mail address that they advertise to use to email for service questions and requests so I'm sure they got it. No word back from them for a few days so first thing this past Monday morning I fill out thier online service request form on the website and reiterate the same thing I mentioned in the email the previous week. Within a half hour I received an email back from one of thier sales staff (odd that it was from a sales person) saying they received my email and I'd be contacted back shortly to confirm my service visit. So I know for sure they got this request. Fast forward two days and still no word back from the dealership. Am I just being overly anal about thinking I should have gotten a response back by now? I'm starting to wonder if they are avoiding me due to the request to look into the vibration. I was in no way rude or demanding in my email to them so they cant be not wanting to deal with some a hole. I'm down to 5% oil life too so I'm kind of wanting this done soon. What do you guys think? Is this the start of my painful process that so many of you have gone thru? Thanks for listening to my rant.

I did a test on mine on the way home from key west once. I had vibrations on my second truck and I suspected frame beaming like the HD trucks. I stopped at Home Depot in key west and bought 20 60 lb bags of sand for my drive home. I drove 400 miles with the same vibration as unloaded. Needless to say, I returned the 20 bags of sand at my local Home Depot that day, and the next day bought a new set of LT 275 70 18 Terra Grapplers. Been smooth ever since. (Knock on wood) I put the LT tires on my truck with 1500 miles on it BC I didn't want to fight the dealer again. I've been to Tennessee, Orlando, Daytona and Savannah several times for about 2/3 of the 15 k now on the highway. There are 4-5 different vibration complaints in this thread and mine indeed was the tires.

Yeah I'm pretty certain mine has been tires all along as well. I'm too cheap to buy new ones right now though. I'm just going to ride out these goodyears and then get some Michelins.

Mine is not tires. I put my Toyos off my 2005 I traded in on my 2014. The 05 never vibrated like the 14 does. Like another mentioned there has to be 4-5 different vib issues on these trucks.

Yeah I agree completely there are multiple types of vibration problems people are experiencing

I took my '14 high country in back in Jan 2015 for vibration. They balanced tires and said it was fixed. Well it wasn't. Took it in last week. Today I get it back. They road force balanced the tires and found one bad tire which wS replaced. So now I have one new tire and 3 with 23k miles. Vibration still there. Ford looking better.

Finally got a call back. Service guy hesitantly said they'll have to test drive my truck to check on the vibration. I just have a bad feeling this is not going to be resolved easily just like the rest of you.

Well first trip to the dealership for my 2015 sierra 1500 crew cab sle 5.3 with 3.42 gears for my vibration in steering wheel and center counsel at 70-80 and of course the dealership says they dont notice anything out of the ordinary.. Im furious to say the least. Guess ill have to take one of there technicians cor a ride and put it in there face.. Also have a very noticeable gear noise coming out of the cront diff when in 4x4 and taking off from a dead stop and of course they said they didnt notice anything there either.. Is gm telling these dealerships not to confirm this problem?

My guess is the dealerships are getting burned by GM. The dealerships techs are spending time and money trying to track down these issues, often over multiple visits, and I bet when the dealerships try to bill GM for warranty reimbursement they are getting denied in some cases. So as to not lose money they are basically trying to ignore this problem. I bet also the GM lawyers have it in some contract that dealerships cannot openly bad mouth GM so the dealerships are not about to tell us the consumer the whole truth. Just my wild guess of course....

Well I have had same promblems for over a year. Shakes around 70mph. Change two set of tires no go. My dealer says they have found what is wrong... the rear diff. Gears are not right. 2014 new supplier of gears and they are bad..the bearings are flexing in the diff and creating vibration. ? It is going in on thursday for new gear set...they said they fix one truck already with 2013 gear supplier and it was great...not all are bad as they say..pinion gear is too big ? This may be a fix...I hope so as it is silly for such a costly truck to shake so much. I will update after tomorrow. Also found out the tires are really bad... I think some trucks have more than one issue. Gm ...whoever is the lowest bidder wins on suppling parts. I wonder what the failure rate has to be , before they do something about supplier...

Hey, new guy here but found this forum because of this thread shortly after I bought my truck in Sept. 2014. I don't ride the interstate much but a few weeks after buying the truck I took it for a 3 hour ride down the interstate and back and noticed a slight vibration in the steering wheel. Took it into the dealership and they drove it and confirmed the shake. Re-balanced all the tires and said shake was gone. It did make it somewhat better but I still get these random shakes at around 72 mph that sometimes can be really bad. Funny thing is it will just go away and be smooth again and then out of no where it will shake again. I think the crappy tires do have a lot to do with minor vibrations but something is going on in the driveline for the rest of it. Most of my driving is vibration free since I am not on the interstate very much but I am not letting the dealership mess with it till there is a definite fix.

Also new to this forum. Just purchased a new 2015 dbl cab with 3:42 and 5.3. Build date was in sept 14 so was one of the 1st ones. Long story short it has the vibration at 70-80 and gas pedal / steering wheel vibration. Will almost put my foot asleep on long drives. Love the truck otherwise. I just retired from the service side of the auto industry as a Service Rep for a Japanese car company so I know both sides of the coin. I will be taking it in in next week. I know I have 2 out of round 20" Goodyear tires but will see what happens. Really wish I had done my homework on this before signing. Enough for now from the newbie.

Your right it never pay's to be rude !

In fact if not for my dealer's Service Manager GM would still be trying to figure this out :nonod:

I always had my note pad and remembered there is a reason I have two ears and one mouth.

I never met anyone from GM in person and was not allowed to talk to the GM engineer when

he was evaluating my truck in fact there was only once I talked to the same person from GM

twice giving me the impression that they thought I'd get tired and give up...WRONG !

BINGO !

Every person at the dealership level was VERY careful on what AND how they addressed this :nopity:

been gone a while, nothing to do but wait so I occupied myself with not thinking about this anymore.

anyway I came back for an update to my issue.

as of 5/18/15 GM agreed to and has been ordered by the judge in writing as part of the settlement to buy back my truck at full cost plus all insurance premiums, sales taxes, and trade in value, in short, im made completely whole by this decission.

for those who missed it I went through BBB and the GM rep which was a joke and a waste of time then I finally skipped arbitration upon the advice of my lawyer who said it would only give then a preview of your argument when then denied you at arbitration and forced you to get a lawyer anyway. now arbitration will work if you want another replacement truck but if you want your money back then the arbitration person will just tell you to go take a hike.

so to wrap up:

I bought my truck in 8/27/14 and had the bad vibration they couldn't fix and wasted two months with BBB and GM rep until finally in october I had to get a lawyer and file lemon law in civil court and here I am 6 months later finally with a resolution due in no small part to the youtube video I made that GM did not want shown to a jury in open court not to mention they had to convince the jury nothing was wrong with my truck and as soon as they saw the video there was no way they would buy GMs claim there was nothing wrong with the truck.

if you are interested the video is here:

I urge any of you who are still fighting this, to make and upload your own video to youtube it can make a difference as it did in my case. they can lie all they want but the video shows the truth they cannot hide from.

I pray the rest of you get the help you need because what GM is doing to people is a crime

Great videos, keakar! Pretty hard to argue with that!

    • Hello hello looking forward to expanding my knowledge of the 2026 2500 HD that I just bought.   Truck has 3500 miles on it four-wheel-drive crew cab and I’m about to put a 6 1/2 inch BDS lift on it 18 x 10 -25 offset with 37’s   Already have the wheels and tires just waiting on the lift install in about three weeks   Question what surprises am I not gonna be happy with?  I’m not new to lifted trucks so I know that acceleration towing gas mileage all that is affected..   Question is those of you that have this truck this powertrain with a 10 speed Allison and have done the mods that I’m doing,,, how bad is it? Is that Allison constantly gonna be hunting for the right gear to go into? And what about towing, acceleration, fuel consumption as mentioned?    Lastly how come I can’t find any ring pinion gear set up for these axles and when could I expect to see them?   I apologize if there’s any typos I’m doing speech to text on my iPhone.
    • I've got a 2013 2500 6.0L Flexfuel. Drove the truck earlier today with no issues. Went to run an errand tonight and noticed key fob wouldn't work. Figured battery was dead, so replaced fob batter. Still wasn't working. Grabbed my other set of keys with the other fob and that one wasn't working either. So I manually unlock truck and insert key. Interior lights come on, dashboard lights up, turn key and truck starts. Turn truck off, like a moron, and try starting again. This time no crank, no click, no nothing. Lights still come on and dash lights up, but now I'm getting a service 4wheel drive, service tire monitor, etc. Check voltage on battery and Im showing 12.2v. Throw my battery charger on it and give it 15 mins and try starting again. But still no crank no start. Decide maybe its a bad battery, run to autozone grab a new one and put it in. Same issue. Disconnect battery and let it sit for 15 mins. Try again and still nothing. I had managed to roll the windows down earlier as its a humid night, but now I can't get them to roll up. Power locks are also not working now. Then randomly I try the key again, and it fires right up. Immediately I roll up the windows as we have nothing but rain forecast this week. I shut it back off wait 30 seconds and start up again. Worked a 2nd time. So turn it off, start putting things back together. Try one more time, and back to no crank no start. And now the car alarm starts going off. Had to disconnect battery and leave it that way for the night as I don't think my neighbors would appreciate my alarm going off again tonight. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

    • Hi there.  Long time lurker, first post.    i have read the previous posts regarding the water ingress problem with this emblem.  I bought my 1500 SLT the  summer of 2025 new and after reading the MANY problems with these emblems failing I decided to install one anyways.  As per a YouTube video, I sealed ( or tried to) this sign with silicone sealant around the outer perimeter joint and the holes that were already somewhat sealed on the rear plate of the emblem.  And installed the connector assembly using dielectric grease on the connectors. The installation looked great and worked well for about 4 months……then FAILURE.  Grrrrrr…… I live in the great white north and wash my truck weekly in an automatic car wash  to keep the salt off.  Let me tell you that removing the old, failed emblem is a whole different animal than removing the OEM individual letters without removing the grill assembly. Mainly because the illuminated logo is built differently than the original letters which  you can remove the red surface lettering with a knife or some kind of blade which gives access to the tabs which hold the logo onto the grill. So I had to essentially destroyed the old emblem to remove it. Doing so killed my chance of doing somekind of autopsy on the failed , old logo.  But there was plenty of water inside when I ripped it apart.  Prior to installing the new assembly I tried it with the old harness and it works fine.   Does anyone have any insight as to where the water is getting into this emblem? I intend to seal the new logo with slow curing epoxy this time around using a syringe.  I think this newer emblem may be an updated unit which I hope GM got the vendor to fix. It has an October 2025 date on it.    If this one  fails,  I am just going to revert back to the non-illuminated letters….AFTER PULLING THE GRILL.    Any thoughts on sealing with epoxy would be appreciated. Thx!   Doug
