I just got a 2018 SLT All Terrain and it developed the vibration. This is my second truck, (first was repurchased). Dealer has attempted to balance tires two times and it gets worse each time. Now it’s at the dealer and they tell me the front to tires belts are broken.

I have already opened a case with GM and formally requested a different brand in tires (Michelin) due to safety concerns.

Dealer is telling me they can only install SR-A 275-55R20.

Anyone have luck getting a different brand tire installed?

On the truck that was repurchased I saw it for sale and had Bridgestones installed and was a CPO with a clean title.

I've had my truck for a little over a month.  I'm loving it (for the most part).  However, my truck has had some vibration at highway speeds.  I'm on vacation, and before leaving, I dropped my truck off at the dealer.  It has about 1300mi on it, and I had done a test ride with the service manager a couple weeks ago.  At that time he noted that on torque lockup it started up.  They texted me today and say that it is going to need a new torque converter!  They went to order the part and found they had one in stock.  So, hopefully upon my return, it will have been replaced and the problem resolved.  Crossing my fingers.

My fear of doing this is it absolves GM of any responsibility if the symptoms are still present.

They can try to blame the tires, but using different tires than OEM (assuming they are same size and load rating as the OEM) in no way affects the vehicle warranty.

Today is day 50 and still not fixed and a new milestone.  I suggested the dealer try another brand of tires but GM will only replace

with same make and size as installed at the factory, in this case the GY 275x55x20's.  About 7 months ago after 5 trips to 3 different dealers and no help

I bought a complete set of 4 factory 18" wheels and tires from a 2016 Tahoe with 4500 miles on them to do my own troubleshooting.

Had them balanced and installed and lo and behold the shake was still there although some what less but at same speed and

from the rear (never had a problem from front-smooth as glass).  So evidently problem is not tires or wheels.  DUH?

Want to post a challenge...Can anyone top my 50 days continuous at a Chevrolet service department for the shake/vibrations without a fix?

To be continued....

WOW, 3months!  Should that be the case with myself and/or others in a buy back situation what did

GM use for the truck's value numbers?  KBB, NADA, or a mutually agreeable price?  Just want to be prepared

should that happen in my case.

Thanks in advance.

Figured I would post here in case anyone was wondering whether or not the '18 trucks had the issue or not. Bought my truck on July 27th. It's a 2018 1500 LT Z71 with 18" wheels,6 speed and 3.42 rear end. My previous truck never had the shake even running a 7 inch lift and 35's and now I have a brand new $50k truck that rides worse than my lifted truck. Drove the truck on the highway 4 days later and there was a vibration that felt like an out of balance tire. Called dealership and they said put 500 miles on it and then take it in because it could be flat spots. Figured it was probably the tires because I had been working the deal on this exact truck for over a month so it had been there for a bit. Took it in, they did a road force balance and said technician didn't feel vibrations. Picked it up and it actually feels worse so now it begins. Seriously regretting going back into a silverado after the issues on my '14 but that's my fault for not liking other trucks. Do anyways, just using this to document a bit because I'm not dealing with this by any means and I won't take it from the dealership until it is fixed. Feels like mine is milder than others have experienced but it is so annoying that I end up driving with the radio off trying to pinpoint where it's coming from. Sucks when I drive 100 miles a day on highway and cruise between 70 and 85, right where it shakes. Attached some videos below of my truck.

Well they try to lowball you first and charge some bs mileage charge which made it worse than trade in value. Then they told me full MSRP and sent me a check that was 10 grand short of that, guess they thought I would take money and run. I got the email where they stated full MSRP and told BBB I was going to get a lawyer, 3 days later they gave me MSRP.

Thanks for the info Chad.  Picked up my truck yesterday (53 days) and shake still there after many new parts and tires replaced.

Now back to GM and if needed BBB.  Service manager just the middle man and did what the GM engineer told him to do.  Like to

have some time alone with that so called idiot.  Service manager would not give me the engineer's name or number.

I go by the motto...."If all else fail, let common sense prevail".

My truck is a 2015 so if a buy back happens no doubt a deduction for year and mileage be involved.  Have some numbers from

KBB and NADA for starters.  Glad to hear you ended up with a MSRP settlement.  Gives me some ammo to work with.

Note to Eric...Pursue the lemon law by contacting your state's Attorney General on your new 2018.  I found out the time limit

in my state was 18 months for the lemon law so had to go the BBB route.

I had a 2016 Silverado crew Z71 4x4 and it was smooth as glass til I was in an accident this spring when the truck had 28000 on it. To replace it I got a 2016 Sierra slt all terrain double cab and it has the shakes. Oddly enough, I have it around 42-48 mph then again at 75+. I'd be thrilled with the truck if it didn't have the slower speed shake. I never drive that fast lol. I had a PICO scope done and the dealer told me they have a truck on the lot (brand new) that shook worse. Going to take it back in and kindly ask them to check again with me on the ride so I can make sure I'm satisfied with their test. If it shakes worse I'll have them road force balance the tires and go from there to get it smoothed out.

Hey gang,

Not sure where this post will show up, but add me to the list of 2018 Silverado 4WD owners with the "Chevy Shake"...grrr. Pointed it out to the salesman while test driving. Contacted him after taking it home that the vibration was still there. I have had it back to the dealer twice now for the issue and will be in for the 3rd time tomorrow. The dealer has load balanced the wheels (20"), tried different wheels, balanced the drive shaft and sent one set of "pico" readings to Tech Support. They have spun it up on the hoist with wheels on, wheels off, suspension hanging and with vehicle on stands. Apparently, tomorrow another set of pico readings will be taken and sent to Tech Support. I haven't owned the truck for 30 days yet. Very concerned to say the least, especially after reading of all these similar complaints with very little fixes. My guess is diff or tranny. This truck has the 6spd automatic and like one post I read, seems to click through the gears way to quick.

I live in Canada and am unsure of next steps or best direction for handling this. I have contacted the customer complaints and spoke to a representative or as they call them, ambassador to enter a case report. The dealer has been documenting through work orders and case submission to Tech Support. What do I need to do to cover my own rear-end?
