Power steering malfunction with Remote Start

Recommended Posts

Nice Denali, I'm sorry you're now a member of our armstrong club.

Not much to say that I haven't already posted.

Maybe try armstronging it to the dealer next time. I was never able to.

Good luck and keep us posted

(So far so good with mine)

Yeah I passed the info along to the dealer for them to look into it. They are the ones putting in the lift and already had out into writing that the entire truck is warrantied like it came from them done. Since it was all in the original contract. Here's hoping.

When it happened to mine (not cold related) they replaced the entire motor and it has been flawless. The dealership did say they had to call GM directly to diagnose the problem.

Well that didn't last long. Got the "Power Steering Assits Warning" light today at lunch. Looks like the problem isn't fixed yet. Lovely.

Another victim of the power electric steering / remote start / cold weather issue. 2014 - 3weeks old. This has happened to me 4-5 times. The first was an a cold day when I muffed the timing on the remote start. (BTW - That's when most people use remote start around here - when it's cold out). Since then it's happened in a range of temperatures and with or without remote start. The only way I can get it back working is to turn it off long enoug to have the MyLInk boot up graphic display, then it sems to be OK. Mine has never "gone out" while driving - scary. I'll call the dealer now to schedule a visit. I appreciate all the feedback.

I haven't had any detectable steering issues with regard to effort, feel, etc... but my power steering has been making a very noticeable buzzing sound at least once a day.

It happens at varied outside temps, anywhere from 85 degrees down to 35

It happens at varied truck operating temps, sometimes just after start up and other times after driving for 45+ mins

It happens with truck running while parked & while low speed driving (might happen at higher speeds but can't hear it)

It lasts anywhere from 5-10 seconds to 10+ minutes (longest I've sat parked trying to listen to it is about 10 mins)

Anyone have similar issues?

If yes, any resolution?

It isn't fixed because the root cause of your problem is "Made in China" and "Made in Mexico".

Mine is quite hard to turn when its cold... The other night it was -35 celcius on the way home, and she was stiff when I got into the city. Haven't had it fail completely yet, but after reading this thread, I'm not gonna hold my breath. Thankfully I bought the extended warranty haha.
