How do you know the radio reception in the 17 will be any better? the sour part about this is gm will turn around and resell your 15 to the next Joe and just pass the problem on to someone else

I've test driven a bunch, but I don't know for sure I suppose. as for reselling, my truck didn't just have a radio problem. I had them confirm what happens with my truck. GM comes and takes it and brings it to michigan for their "Repurchased Auction" dealers are required to disclose what the problems were, and the purchaser is required to sign a document stating that he was informed and accepts the problems as is.

Well at least the next guy will know what he is getting no then. I keep trying to work up the motivation to go back to the dealer again to try and resolve the issues I have. First oil change coming up so that will be my 4th attempt to fix radio, exhaust squeak, and now the transmission clunk that is getting louder... Glad you got resolution.

So if the radio in the 17 is better, I wonder if it's swappable to the 16?

its possible. I'm not saying the radio is great, but its better than the one in my current truck. and the vibration isn't as bad

Got Sirius radio for a year on both trucks. Wonder if their will be a fix by then?

Yes, my FM radio sucks with standard speakers. I believe the Bose speakers exhibit the problem more because they have better high frequency performance and all the "noise" is high frequency.

Again, radio reception sensitivity is within bounds but there is little or no FM noise reduction so you hear all the multipath "swiching" and fade noise like a $5 radio. I believe the GM engineers blew it when they wrote specifications for the radios by other manufacturers than Delco or Delphi. The radio in my 2016 is an LG.

Cant swap a BOSE truck over to non-BOSE like that, the head unit and or programming is different plus BOSe speakers have AMPs at every speaker location where the standard system uses 1 amp for everything.

My 2016 truck is noticeably better than my 2014 was, my only issue now is that the static makes the screen distort out and the screen randomly turns off and then back on. Just need to get some time to take it into the dealer to have them reprogram it.

I've never heard a Bose system, just speculating. The static, is this the swishing type while you're moving and listening to a weaker station or is it something else?

My 2016 I consider satisfactory now after the reprogram for the Android mobile app. They inferred that it would possibly fix some radio problems. I was ready to add an aftermarket radio for FM but determined that it is not worth it for the small improvement.

Well, my Infotainment system gave up the ghost today on my 2016 Sierra. Music was playing loudly in the background, volume knob wouldn't turn it down and screen as totally blank. Tried to reset the radio by pulling the fuse, no change. I am guessing the HMI module died or another module died. System has never worked right since they flashed the Android Auto update to it. Waiting to see if dealer can fix it today or if it is going to be out of service for a bit.
