Offerring a warranty would be something we would certainly look into if it was of interest to customers.

With respect to the 100% detection comments: nothing is 100%.

Not sure that I can be any more specific, there are ways around aftermarket tune detection even with the Global A counters.

You got caught by the grammar and spelling police!

My soap box... if I am hiding something then I should expect that people should be suspicious of my intent. I'm upfront with my dealer about my mods and he is up front with the potential outcome. Risk versus return.

If you offered a warranty how much additional cost would it add? Would anyone here be willing to pay double the cost or more to add a warranty? Me thinks NO.

Go outside and play the rapture isn't until next week.

Grammar and spelling? I'm sure my phone's autocorrect would agree, but I'm not seeing it.

I agree that we all have to pay to play. I have a 2013 supercharged, exhaust, meth injected, BBKd, and I'm totally upfront at the dealer. But I do not expect them to fix my engine if it were to blow up.

On the warranty cost comment, probably wouldnt be all that expensive, based on our experience.

Just got my autocal device yesterday. in the process of "Configuring AutoCal for logging and file retrieval." I downloaded the config files from the directions on their site, except I don't see the correct config file for the 2014+ trucks. It should be E92 6speed right? I only see the E37 and E38 ones for the previous gen trucks.

I sent an email to Justin, I assume he will send me the correct config file, and then I only program that one config file right?

*EDIT*

Or wait...is my module already pre-configured because it says "pre-configured config - E92 6speed" on the box?

I think they come auto configured... mine has the same label. Will be working through the instructions this week now that my CAI is installed.

Thanks Jenna. Just got back from logging data and reading the E92 and T42 tune files. I'll be sending you guys an email very soon.

Wanted to update here since the tuning section doesn't see as much traffic. I tuned mine about 3 weeks ago now and I am very pleased with Blackbear and their service. I noticed last Friday an email from Justin with a new updated transmission tune ( I didn't ask for it) he had gotten a new efi live package that allowed access to new parameters in the TCM he sent me the update and I flashed my truck again. Awesome service updated me without even asking gotta love that. New shifts are even better than before nice crisp quick smooth shifts very noticeable.

Its slightly confusing how the process works but overall its really easy.

Basically if you have a pre-configured unit, it will have a decal on the box. Simply plug in the auto cal.

Read the E92 then read the TCM

Now go to the data log section on the autocal

Log your truck doing WOT pulls and a little driving but mostly getting on the throttle do a little of everything once log file is full it will let you know on the autocal

Remove from truck

DL the latest efi live v8 software

Plug in auto cal after above software is installed

Go to Efi Live explorer

On the left hand side of the screen on the bottom payne is a tab called data files this is access to your auto cal directories simply browse the directory where the scan is, and the read is and copy them by dragging and dropping to your pc. Email those files to Justin.

Save copies to your hard drive then delete the tunes off the auto cal and the scan file.

Wait for your tunes to come back from Justin then drag and drop them ONE AT A TIME to the auto cal.

Program 1 and Program 2 when you plug into your truck

Rescan and send new scan file to Justin

Thanks yea, I got it all worked out. Did some logging and sent the E92 and T43 files off to BB. Looking forward to the tuning to be done. BB did tunes on two other trucks I had and it was great!

Regarding warranty from a tuner... I didn't read any of the details, but I saw this weekend that Hypertech offers a 2 year limited power train warranty on their 2014/15 GM handheld. It only gives ~20 hp/tq, but it also adjusts shifting, recalibrate speedo for gears and tires, kills AFM, etc for only $350.

I decided to give Hypertech a shot, this is my third time using their Max Energy. I understand most people say go with a mail order tuner and such because its better. I don't dispute that, but for what I was looking for now this is the way I went. My goal was to have control over the AFM, the TM, and top speed. I run E85 and for the first time in my life im happy with the performance of the engine. When I get bored im sure Ill mess under the hood. Well the first attempt was a bust, the truck wouldn't go over 40 MPH so Ill call the help line when they open. I have used can tuners five times this the first time I have had a problem, updates later.

Ok, so it was me, I thought it was plus 40 on the top end. If I held the button a little longer it would have kept going to the 130 MPH I wanted. First impressions were good. I set the trans at 75% hits good, when I go in for the next oil change I may reduce that will see. Runs up to the 6k red line set now pulls hard there is more there but that's good. I set the gear changes at plus 400 Rpm more, can go to 500, seems fine will drive awhile to see. The V4 waits till 65 as set may turn it off, I like to go a little at a time to get a good feel. Ill do the normal drive for a few days to see how the normal throttle response goes and if the funky tran dance is gone. If I can keep my foot out of it.

I'm with you KARNUT. I'm not looking for max performance, just a decent daily driver. I think the Hypertech products provide that in a reliable and easy to use package.

Up date, the programmer is working as advertised. Im getting more of a old time feel out of the pedal now, I don't seem to have to wait for a response, you hit it, you go. The same goes for the transmission no hunting, hits hard at 75% Im going to try 100% at some time its almost chirping the tires now.

    • I certainly could be wrong but I hear of pickups far newer than that 2007 cutoff which may not be going to the wrecker but are having engine work done and be that a reman engine or new engine or trying to repair the existing engine. Some of it would be design issues as per the cylinder deactivation system that GM has and one of those lifters wiping out the cam and the question of oil changes moving the needle or not on that whole mess, or in the case of Ford pickup engines that have the long timing chains and wearing them out and the roller followers and phasers and some of that certainly goes back to oil change intervals. But in those various cases the truck has all sorts of life left in it and so the unfortunate owner and may be original owner or used market owner that is pouring money into repairs so the truck is not seeing the salvage yard yet but damage is happening by infrequent oil changes. A friends son had bought a 2018 I think it is half ton GM and it had some sort of extended or used dealer warranty on it and of course the lifter issue bites and its rattling and so the dealer had to swallow the bill and was at least 7000.00 and I think they only replaced what they felt they had to replace so yeah, I can see that being a ticking time bomb in the not too distant future. Would frequent oil changes cure all these engineering "marvels", probably not but some engine designs have shown that they do much better if the oil is changed a lot more often then if the manufacturer service claims are followed. New trucks cost so much that there is an incentive to keep the existing truck on the road by repairing.
    • get a good code reader, and find out what problems the truck has noticed by reading codes. cheap ones can only get basic engine codes, you may want to get one that can get codes from all the computers in your truck.
    • This is sort of my point, salvage yards aren't overflowing with all these 'poorly' maintained trucks - excellent/good/servicable condition otherwise, salvaged only as a result of a bad engine from poor oil change regiment.    In my area, there are no 2007 to newer gm trucks/suvs in any salvage yards. A few are in the 'recyclers' with very obvious reasons for being there - wrecked.
    • Stabilitrack was a stability control, traction control system, that functioned independently from the transfer case.   Z-71 has nothing to do with the transfer case or differential.   If it does have an AWD system, my memory recalls this being specific to the Denali trim, converting won't be as simple as swapping out mechanical parts like differentials and transfer cases. It will require reprogramming at a minimum. Long story short, not likely worth it.   Pulling a fuse, may disable the AWD system, it might also prevent any other transfer case functions.   However, the AWD case was generally based on the same transfer case you refer to in the 2006 Suburban. If it still has a 4-High and 4-Low where the transfer case locks and splits power 50-50 front to rear, what are you gaining by changing anything? A true-rear wheel drive only, what good will that serve? Not enough to go through the trouble of changing out all the parts.    Generally, all the factory systems will handle a 33" tire and re-gearing. Probably a 35" tire too, if you aren't driving like a caveman. If 35" tires are in the plan...   If you do plan on driving like a caveman or are fully committed to 35" tires, an entire re-think of the build is probably in order. Starting with square one, an IFS front end isn't going to be the best starting point for 35's and caveman driving.
    • 1/2 qt over full ain`t gonna hurt $h!t. Most times, a whole qt won`t either. Most have windage trays now. As long as the crank isn`t slapping itself in the oil, it`s not the end of the world.   We used to overfill 1 qt at the track, at race time. Better to have it over full than having the pan sucked dry at 6500 rpm`s.
