You can sell the warranty back to them. Buy the tuner and put about 1k back in the bank IMO. I didn't buy the extended on this one. I have bought it on the last 3 vehicles saying I wouldn't tune but have tuned every one of them before they turned over 5k miles. I understand everyone's situation and needs are a little different though.

You can do this? How do i go about doing that? I have never purchased an extended warranty on anything but the GM history had me spooked and I need this truck to last atleast 10 years lol. I'd love some insight into this

Just go to the dealership and tell the you decided you ddidn't want it anymore. They will prorate it for the remainder of the warranty and mail you a check.

That is something good to know if you are trading your truck in as well. Some dealerships will tell you about it and others will not and pocket the money. If I know I am trading mine in I always cancel the warranty before to ensure I get all of my money back.

Good to hear, I am doing this! Many thanks

One thing to remember is that this was financed in when you bought the truck, they give you the money back but it doesn't come off of the truck payoff amount.

Called them up, they are sending me the forms to cancel. But they said the amount comes off the principle of the loan not a check, either way no big deal. 7 years 70k miles I wont ever see, as long as 5 yr 100k power train remains

That's odd, I got checks on my last 3 I bought the warranty on. The last gm one was in around 2008 though. Good none the less, atleast you aren't out the money. Tune away!

Why not buy a spare ECM to use for the tunes, so that the cvn would stay the same? Provided that is where the "counter" is stored. I would love to just turn off the AFM and top speed limiter. But I'm not prepared to void my warranty because of it

ECM is matched to VIN now I believe.

ECM is matched and no way to swap the ECM over as the dealer would have to do that procedure, plus you would have to swap the ECM and the TCM which is not easy since the TCM is located inside of the transmission.

GM eliminated that loop hole years ago after finding out people were doing that to get around warranty claims.

So I spoke to Diablo yesterday about their programmers. I'm a custom tune fan, but I wanted to see what they had to say about their claim of the programmers being undetectable. I repeatedly asked and was assured that as long as it was returned to stock, the dealer had "NO" way of seeing it. As stated before, I really would just like turn off AFM and speed limiter, not sure who to believe here. If Diablo tells people this and advertises it and it's not true, then they're opening themselves up to lawsuits.

What they told you is wrong, as everytime a flash is done it is uploaded to GM, even if you return it to stock, they will know it was flashed and flashed back to stock. They will know, now proving the flash caused said issue is another topic

It is not uploaded to GM, just trips the flash counter in the ECM.

I got real tired of the V4 helicopter sound with my exhaust and I wanted my trans. shift points to be a bit firmer. As far as the engine performance I figured reducing the TM in the trans. would also wake up the engine. That and buying a can tune would give me some backing if a problem came up in the engine. Their engine tunes are pretty mild. I could see there being a case in regards to the trans. if you remove all of the TM the trans. hits pretty hard. If you go custom tune and melt the engine or scatter parts I could see where GM could have a case, there are some good ones out there but their names aren't as well known as Hypertech , Diablosport etc. They still have to prove the part broke the truck.
