Recently got my trans tuned by Black Bear... It's a huge improvement over stock! If you can only afford engine or trans tune, get the trans done!!

I'm assuming the answer is "yes". Buuuut, does a trans tune change the CVN values?

Maaaan, If this was the third year....I'd have tuned it at 300 miles....lol. Being year one....I think I want to see if any "bugs" come up.

I was the same way... And I said exactly the same thing, but I caved. The only reason I broke so early was because I kept my laptop plugged into the truck monitoring what it was doing for a couple months, then I fell off the band wagon. It was so much harder for me knowing I had the means right in my hand and it wasn't going to cost but just $100 for the two credits it takes to marry to a PCM. It's like a recovering alcoholic working as a bar tender... I was my own enabler.

Yeah, it's getting hard for me, too.

 

I have one of the best tuners on the Eco platform that broke the whp barrier on the stock fuel system at my back door. Letting him see what he could accomplish on this one is so freaking tempting.

Haha, I'd probably more apt to tune a leased truck depending on the length of lease.

 

It's a 39 month lease. But I don't know if I will end up keeping it or not at the end of the lease term. I don't want to have to return the ECM to stock. If I end up keeping it the first day after I buy it out, I will get it tuned by BlackBear.

I got a deal on my 5.3 14 Silverado but it had the 3.08 in it. I will need to tow possibly up to 7000-7500lbs sometimes so I've been trying to decide on swapping to 3.42's but the tune has been something I've been worried about after doing that. Reading this thread had made me really want to tune it and since I'm in NC PCM of NC looks like a great idea. Curious though, do you think I could get away without changing the gear's with a tune since that would adjust the transmission pressure/shift points? Or would that not really impact the towing capacity?

After a good tune you will think it can pull your house off the foundation, even with 3:08, and especially if they know what they are doing on the transmission and E85 side of it, hell on E85 I am pretty sure I would paddle last years 6.2 at the track and give a stock '14 6.2 a run for their money.

I would still consider swapping the gears. It would just make the towing experience more effortlessly. The gears would keep you out of the lower gears more often.

 

I traded in a 2013 EcoBoost F150 4x4 Off-Road w/3.55 rear.....on the 14 Silverado 4x4 with 3.42's. As far as the bottom end power to get things going quickly....the Eco won. However, my overall towing experience with my side x side and trailer at around 4,000 lbs.....had been hands down better with the 3.42's and 5.3L.

 

Now with a tow tune in the EB....it was pretty amazing. So a tune with the 5.3L should make it pretty awesome, too.

 

I would do the tune first, and if you need more.....go with the gears.

For anybody thats gotten a blackbear tune on these 2014s. How did you get your autocal to bring up e92.. The file for these 2014s to be able to tune them? Example... "Read e92" read e38... Etc. ive updated all the softwAre and it isnt showing the e92 file

You will need to load the new configuration file in the autocal. Email Justin and he will fix you up.

Thanks i already did this mornin. However i know people get busy and i thougjt i could get an answer faster on here. He sent me the e92 file i jus dont know how to put it on the autocal
