I have a 5.3L crew cab and the only thing I've done so far is installed flowmaster dual exhausts. I live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and I've been emailing back and forth with a nearby performance tuning shop. After explaining to him what I'd like to see from my truck, this is what he told me after some research on his end: "We can go 2 different routes, we can get a Diablo Sport InTune $325.00+S/H or a HPTuners VCM Suite package. We can split the cost of the VCM tuner for the HPTuners and also the cost of the dyno tuning. In return I get to keep the VCM Suite from HPTuners." My question to you guys, especially the ones who've already had their trucks tuned, which route would you suggest?

Which shop are you referring to? We have two respected tuners...EPS and Futral... but that information you mention doesn't sound like either of them.

Oh I just saw your other post. Not familiar with Corr. You might try the above shops I listed. They have been in the GM stuff for a long time doing tuning. EPS is in BR and Futral is in Walker.

Thanks so much! I'll get in contact with EPS. They're minutes away from me! Corr is much further in Kenner. I appreciate everything!

I spoke with Jeff at EPS and he said they haven't started tuning the 14's yet because of the new system. He said it'll be at least another month before they start. I'll give Futral a call and I may also try Diablew. I'm just ready to unleash her full capabilities! Thanks again!

I think Alan has done a couple. I'm waiting a while before I do anything and let them build their knowledge. Lol

Has anyone tried the Bully Dog/Computer Chip? Autozone sells it online for $399, but a nearby Autozone has it for under $300 in the store. I talked to someone who used it on his '14 Sierra and he loves it.

Be nice to ad 15-20hp, but man....that warranty looming over my head.

Yeah, but HP/TQ is far from the only story. Especially for those who race, but even if you don't....things like launching from a powerbraked 2600 RPM instead of a 1/2 throttle 1500 RPM can put a smile on your face even without any increase in HP.

Booked my appointment at Futral Motor Sports for April 30th. We decided to go with a street tune 1st since I'll probably add more mods and I'll only have to pay the $150 difference when I'm ready for the dyno.

That's exactly what I keep saying.... HP/TQ is about 10% of a good tune on these trucks. You will get the most joy out of what is accomplished on tuning the transmission. You won't get any quality transmission tuning out of a canned tune either... I cant stress enough to go custom. Any guys here in the Tulsa area that have gone canned tune already, come drive my truck and see how quick your Hypertech/Bully Dog goes on Craig's list. :P

This is EXACTLY what the guy at Futral told me when I asked him about Bully Dog. He explained to me how only a custom tune will unlock your truck's max potential. Those yes/no questions will only take your truck so far. That was all I needed to hear! Lol.

I wish you lived in NC, haha. It was a no brainer to tune the Eco...if I had a 6.2 it would have already been tuned....but with 5.3L I'm trying to justify the gains out-weighing the potential warranty loss down the road.

My ideal would be around 20 more whp and 30 more wtq...that is 100% safe to tow up to the 9500lbs. I can't wait to see what a set of LongTubes does to open up a stock motor and then on a tune.
