I wasn't planing on it but after a few camping trips through the mountains this summer I decided to make towing a little easier and pick up a new truck. My 5.3 Silverado did ok on the flats and the airbags helped quite a bit for stability but she didn't like the climbs at all. I would crest some of the hills at 65 km/hr with my foot to the floor, the truck screaming and I could watch the gas hand go down...lol. With the new 2016 Sierra Denali 2500 Duramax I barely even know the trailer is behind me! What a big difference towing...amazing! I've had 5.3's for the last 10 years and I really loved my Silverado...I'm gonna miss it ...

Great looking truck. We did the same about a year ago. No need to kill my 2014 Silverado pulling my TT in places other than flat land. Now, the Duramax has no issues pulling it anywhere, and I feel much more comfortable towing as well.

Really a nice truck. I am a paramedic and we used to have the Dura max diesels a few years ago. We had major problems with all of them and every single one seized up on us.

Nice truck and trailer. Can't compare a small block V8 to a diesel for towing, but I'm very happy with mine. Pulls my trailer great. But you do have a huge and heavy trailer so I don't blame you

Sounds like you all didn't maintain them or abused them for all of them to seize up. Move along...

I did the same thing. Only we are doing our homework for a new trailer and quickly realized that what we want is not towable by my 1500. So as of last night I have 2 trucks in the driveway. Now I need to sell my 1500.

sweet. nice choice!

as someone who lives in bc and sees a lot of moutains and trailers. thanks! these 1500 just were not meant to pull those kind of loads at those grades. seen a few setups that just bordered on 'scary' this summer.

As someone who lives right outside of Yosemite NP I concur. Some people have no business pulling a trailer. I am shocked that California hasn't forced a special RV license. I am not an advocate for micromanagement laws for which California is in a class by itself, but some of these people don't have a clue what they are doing.
