Tight fit in the garage

Mine used to fit until I had to install a hurricane door. Robbed about 4" of space. My Yukon XL still fits sans hitch.

I used old 4x8 election signs (3 of them) and tacked them to the back wall of the garage. Can idle right into them with no damage.

Ive got a 17 DC standard bed. Ive got maybe 3/4 to and inch between my rear bumper and the garage door with the front bumper against the front wall. Im using a piece of carpet on the wall where the bumper hits. No scratches so far. Ive got a particular spot of light that comes from the drivers headlight onto the wall and I use that to judge exactly when the bumper touches. Never fails. Just gotta be easy with it when parking.

My 07 Tundra was exactly the same way.

I back in to my garage, and use a piece of drywall up against the block with no tube in the hitch. Get just close enough so that when I put in park and take the foot off the brake, it rocks back and can feel the hitch hit the drywall. ? Glad I'm not the only one that's a tight squeeze

My '17 parks outside, for two reasons. 1) I highly doubt it would fit in the garage, especially with the stuff I have hanging on the walls and 2) the 442 gets the garage space. The the amount of floor and body panels I had to cut out and replace, it's earned it. The '17 won't ever receive the same treatment.

The way I figure, you probably don't have it covered when you're at work (assuming there's no parking garage) so it's no big deal to let it sit outside when you're home. Plus it is a truck after all.

Sounds like the perfect storm to get that detached "mancave" garage happening. Just convince the little woman that the exterior will match the crib. BAM done

i have a buddy who has something like this - it's insane

didn't have enough room for a man cave in his 25,000 sq ft house (yes... twenty five thousand)

his separate garage (not to be confused with the 4 car garage attached to his house) is insane. there are 4 oversized bays. 2 have hoists so he can stack his cars (the one hoist had a porche on it that is apparently worth north of $1mill - that's nuts)

the one bay is his 'cave' and it's unreal. he's an aviation nut and somehow was able to buy the plane that bd cooper jumped out of. the ceiling in his cave is the interior ceiling of that plane and the door to go to the bathroom is one of the hatches off the plane. it's crazy

So you are saying he is poor? :)

I use the backup camera. You can see the bumper well enough to lightly touch something so just tape an empty water bottle or something to the wall at the height of your bumper and you will be able to easily and consistently back up to the same spot!

We are moving into a new house here in a few weeks and I couldn't be more excited. There is one small problem though, the truck will be a tight fit in the garage. I have searched through the forum for various options and the only topics I found were pretty dated. I'm pretty sure the truck will fit but I may only have 1/2" to spare. Is anyone out there using a roll pan bumper for their 2016? I don't like what I've seen out there (some urethane stuff from "Street Scene" or something like that) so I'm curious what you're all using (if anything at all). I don't need a roll pan bumper at all, I just know that will give me a few inches. Is there another option out there I'm missing like a regular metal bumper that's just an inch shorter?

Modifying the garage in any way is not an option. The wife wouldn't approve that one. :) Also, parking outside isn't an option..at least in the long term. Summers in Phoenix are pretty brutal.

Thank you in advance for any bumper advice! Also, if there is another recent thread, please let me know. I'm more than happy to delete this post and focus on those.

Thanks to the stairs into the garage my truck is 2 ft too long for my garage =(. Stupid Long Island and their 124 sq ft "1" car garages. Damn thing is so narrow I don't think I'd be able to open my door even I could fit it.

attach a piece of 1" foam rubber to the wall

That's much better. Thank you for sending this to me. I hate the roll pan bumper (yes I agree that it's a dated look and looks good on lowered trucks...mine will never be lower :) ) but this gives me hope. Since modifying the garage is not an option, I think this is the best way to go. I used to fab up all my old Jeep bumpers but I just don't have the scrap to try and weld something together. Plus with baby almost here, I doubt I will have the time either.

Thanks everybody. If you see any other good options like Velocyraptor provided, please send them my way. I'll provide a beer as a finders fee.

Yes, I agree that after going through that much surgery, she has earned her spot. Heck, maybe one day your 17 will be beat up and deserve a restoration and earn her spot. :)
