Run like hell from this truck, its not the tires. Vibration is exactly the same after rebalance. Problem is with the engine or transmission. Transmission is sloppy and GM won't help you. Had high hopes when I bought the truck, spent my savings, and all I bought was a nightmare.

I hold Michelin in the highest regard in terms of getting what you pay for. But that said, even they are doing tire recalls for sidewall & out of round issues...

There have been several over the last couple years in various size tires for them. This is the most recent. http://www.michelinman.com/safety-recall.page

Have only found one tire that Goodyear did a excellent job on & that was a 16 ply trailer tire, the rest were junk. Not a fan of the GY's on my 2013 in terms of traction, but no vibrations or anything odd.

Also curious if anyone has drilled this issue down to only crew cabs that have this issue or is it present on reg & double cabs as well? With crews coming out of Mexico, are the tires for that mfg facility sourced elsewhere

than the tires that go to Fort Wayne, IN?

Do not own a 2014, so have not looked into it farther than glancing across this thread.

Glad I came upon this thread tonight, I just left the dealership up here after being offered a great deal. I was about to sign all the paperwork and hand them the keys to my 06 F150 (that still drives great) but I had that knot in my stomach so I said I needed the night to think it over. Long story short, googling 14 sierra problems brought me straight here I probably won't be going back after reading this, especially knowing GM doesn't have a clue. It mystifies me that this issue can stump designers, engineers and technicians on a $40,000 truck. The one thing that sucks is that the '14 sierra sle 4x4 I'm about to get blows the '14 f150 and ram out of the water as far as looks and the cabin go. This seems like a truck that will take me to the year 2020 and I won't regret a moment. The 14 F150 however is no better looking inside or out than my 06. I want to love this Sierra but I'm not sure If I can live with the nagging feeling that something major will go wrong after 1k. Maybe they will put my almost new Firestone Destination AT's on the new one and put the Sierras tires on my trade, they are the same size. Hopefully that is the problem but it doesn't sound like it. Probably backing out completely and waiting till this summer for the 15 F150. Kinda bummed. (but also glad i know)

I have had zero issues with my truck, almost 7k on the clock. I'd suggest you take the one your thinking about buying on a hard long test drive.

I just had my truck in for service yesterday, I asked the Service manager how many 2014 are coming in for vibration. I've know the guy for 15 years, his reply was "none". Largest by volume dealer in Oklahoma.

I'm very suspicious of Mike's comment. When I called a second dealership to discuss the vibration in my steering wheel he said he was happy to take a look but I "probably wasn't going to like what he was going to tell me". Just like the previous dealer he went on to say all/most of the trucks on their lot have similar problems. Maybe the northeast/NY got a bad batch of trucks? I wanted to enjoy this truck. Beautiful interior, nice looks, but every time I reach 50-60 mph I'm reminded of how poor the vehicle drives......which was never the case with my 2008 or 2003 Silverado. If it was the tires wouldn't the vibration change a little after the rebalance? Wouldn't the frequency or speed at which the vibration occurs change slightly just due to the different weighting and new placement of the bad tire? Vibration was exactly the same in every way after the rebalance. If GM had any confidence in its product they'd be all over this, assisting their loyal customers. Instead they just make sure you have the names of other dealerships in the area, which is useless.

For all you guys having this problem, have you or the dealer checked the level of transmission fluid? Possibly play in the carrier bearing? Could it be the 2 piece drive shaft? This is what causes the majority of the same problem on the Tacoma along with out of round stock tires.

The service manager I know is a personal friend, we fish, hunt and drink beer together. He has nothing to gain for lying to me.

I just have a hard time understand why some have it and others don't. If it's tires then that would be easy to determine. It appears to me that it's not tires, is it wheels, doesn't sound like it.

Doesn't appear to be an issue only in 4x4's or 2x4's, I'll guess with you!

All I do know is I have 7k on my 2lz LTZ z71 with 22" rims and No vibrations!

Purchased a 2014 chevy 4wd crew cab, 3.43 rears, 20" goodyear wranglers about 3 months ago. I had the shake too. I fortunately had the shake resolved by my dealer after 2 failed attempts. I had to call GM and threaten lemon law, but they came through and the truck is smooth now. The replaced tires first time around and roadforced them. It didnt work. 2nd attempt - another new set of tires and roadforced again. No good again. Finally they ordered a new driveshaft and Michilin LTX, roadforced and finally smooth as glass. All I can say is have patience and if your current dealer isnt cooperating then contact GM and have a case opened and tell them your troubles with your dealer. I truely believe that the dealers are baffled by this and are trying anything to fix. GM engineers are responsible for this. They shouldnt have released a truck with issues like this. Patience... its hard but its out of our control.

At least in your case it pretty much points to the drive shaft that was the problem.

Hector, quit crying in your beer and go to someone that balances tires for a living, not sell trucks. You guys going back to dealer for a balance, OK maybe twice, after that find some one that can balance a tire. Replacing OEMS is a mod.

I have two 14 Silverado crew cabs, 342 rear end, 4x4 trucks with the Goodyear 20 inch SR A tires and Chrome wheels and both are smooth as glass. 5,000 miles on one and 2,000 on the other. NO VIBRATIONS or any other problems for that matter. It is difficult to understand why some people have the vibration and many more do not.

    • I find it amusing the OP doesn’t realize this threads heading includes several engines. He should have posted in the off topic section if he wanted a more narrow focus. I really appreciate and find amusing that he actually pointed out one of my many vehicles. The Odyssey. That happens to use 0-20 oil. I love pushing his buttons.
    • Maybe, but it seems he is the only one that has backed up data to prove what he is stating. I think he is doing this more because he enjoys it and wants to get the information out to us. He's got the knowledge and access to the proper equipment and having the funds doesn't hurt.  I would love to do what he is doing and would do it if and when I hit the Powerball.  I'm not a Tribologist by any means but love to learn what I can.   I would bet there would be doubting people out there if a completely independent lab with high quality work and highly respected in the automotive industry, put out information like this.  The world can't be pleased, one just has to take the information that they are given, do more of their own research to find actual lab data to back up what they are trying to figure/find out.  Most don't bother, they just want to believe what they first see.     I don't have the minimax but my 6.2 in my 2019 Silverado with 64k miles shows excellent UOA results with 0w-20 and for my own purposes 5w-20.  Since not much of a change using 5w. I liked the data sheet information on the SS 5w-20 and figured I would give it a try.  Still the same viscosity at 100℃.   In the end we all just do what makes us happy, life is too short to get upset over trivial social media.   On a side note, I do feel GM has dropped the ball and just cares about the bottom dollar and not quality anymore.  "Like a Rock" has been long gone.  Seems "Built Ford Tough" has as well.
    • Better than stock but that's like putting lipstick on a pig
    • Hello, my 3 month old Sierra Elevation wont recognize a trailer with electric brakes? All the lights work correctly, but no power to the brakes?   This is the factory installed brake controller. If you manually push the knob, the display shows the power % but does not light up like my 2022 silverado.   I have an appointment with the dealer, but was checking to see if anyone else has seen this issue.    Thanks,
    • Been using SS 0w-20 from new, but wanted to change to the 5w-20 because I liked the data on the data sheet, to me it seems like a little better product. But as you can see, not much difference. This is also with running a mix of 10 gallons E85 to a tank topped with 93. It isn't a flex fuel vehicle so any higher I get a CEL for running lean on both banks. Yes my mileage takes a hit. Instead of 20 mpg I normally get on trips I get 17mpg. This is also using EaO17 filter.  What is amazing is I have the AMSOIL cone filter on it since I have the GM Performance intake installed and that air filter has 44k miles on it.  I just take it out and shop vac it off once a year.  I use the upholstery tool on my shop vac.  Works well.
