Hate to be the bearer of bad news but there is no motor mount recall. A newer tsb for loosening the the mounts and adjusting the motor then retightening in a specific sequence is available. It is possible that a tech called TAC and was given a new motor mount p/n but I haven't heard of that yet.

Especially with these vibration problems being so rare on these trucks! :rolleyes:

Hey guys. Just wanted to throw in my two bits. I was having major vibration issues on my truck at certain speeds sometimes at 50km then 80 and 110km. I had discussed with the dealer about this and they had looked everything other on a couple occassions and told me nothing was wrong then finally one of the service techs had come out and asked me if I would be interested in trying out different rims/ tires on my truck (looked like he had a theory in mind) so i did. I originally had the 20's on the truck and we had swapped for the 18's instead. similar diameter only approx .37" difference. I drove the truck right away after the swap and no vibration. been driving it for the past two weeks this way and still have not come across any vibration. I had made the dealer buy my 20's back off of me and give me a credit to keep the 18's. The mech had said that he noticed a lot of the trucks that did complain about vibration had the 20's on them and he figures something is off. Either way I am just putting in my story of what happened. For others here on the site that have further vibrations issues I hope they get solved and if I here more then I will post it.

When I started this post I thought I might be the only one, and know body will believe my thinking I was just trying to stir the pot. I had know idea if others where having issues. Sadly I never thought it would have turned into this.

Man , You could churn butter in that thing. I have only had mine on interstate maybe three times. Not as bad as yours. I can see the bottle spinning. :omg:

but that's normal, just the way trucks are supposed to ride

 

GM designs its vehicles to ride that way, everything is normal

 

every single truck on the dealers lots drives and vibrates the same way so its normal

 

why don't we accept it when they tell us this :bs:

 

great video and mine does it about the same at times and sometimes not as bad

Hope I can get my 50k vibrator fixed , or replaced ,buy back, trade for ??? Very sick feeling in my stomach.

2014 Z71 2WD

 

i have the vibration shakes like everyone else and i bought a new set of rims 17" for the stock tires, same shake. Took it to the shop i bought the rims from twice and no better. I then bought new rims and tires 22" and shake still there at 35 to 45 and again at 74mph. Took it to the dealer and they noticed it and gave me a rental for 5 days. I went back and they said the problem was my aftermarket rims and tires. I also felt it in the rental. Tried to put up with it was a couple weeks but driving me nuts.Called and talked to the service manager, he said there is a know issue but no fix. He then said he wants to check my rims and tires again and put stock ones on and see if it still shakes. really!!! So i made another appointment but not for two weeks. He said they are very busy with other recalls. Plus he is getting the regional service manager with some vibration detector.

I also noticed that there are no 2015 1500 silverados out yet at least around here, is GM making sure they are ok or anyone else know?

Thought about that last winter. Never came up with a way to seal the output shaft of the transfer case.

i'll say this, I don't drive a lot. my truck sits on the driveway for a week at a time and sometimes it goes a month without being driven. I mostly use the car or motorcycle and the truck gets used mostly just for pulling the boat and this has been my pattern of truck use for nearly 35 years.

 

that said in the entire 35 years I have NEVER had any vibration or feeling of flat spots on the tires, if there was any it was so negligible that it went unnoticed completely.

 

I will concede there might be the possibility of ever so slightest of flattening of the tire from not moving in a while but this it corrected before you leave the driveway with a few revolutions of the tire. I had my truck parked in the driveway for 8 years and never moved while recovering from health issues and when I finally took it for a drive the tires were perfectly smooth as always even though it needed new rotors and brakes from rusting in the driveway. if flat spotting EVER had a chance to be a problem then I think after 8 years it would have occurred but it didn't so I dismiss you notion with the concession that it may occur at some small minor unnoticeable level that cant be noticed or detected or used as an excuse for causing vibrations

 

the ONLY type of flat spot you would feel in the tires is if it gets dry rotted and harden that way and this type of flat spotting never goes away.

 

the notion that a brad new tire can have noticeable flat spots to cause it to be felt when driving is laughable on its face and insulting to anyone who has ever owened a motor vehicle. maybe someone who just fell off the turnip truck might believe such malarkey but as a wise man once said "don't pee down my back and tell me its raining"

 

 

I can feel the crosshairs of a liberal nut jobs rifle scope on me at this very minute lol.

This right here, I deploy 6-7 months at a clip, my vehicle doesnt move during that time, not once did I ever have a flat spot issue in 11 yrs of deploying

    • Very true.   However.  GM did give those trucks with the single speed case Terrain Mode.  Terrain Mode mimics 4LO minus the gear reduction and torque capability.  It uses the ABS/braking system to perform the operation.  It also gives these one pedal driving (sort of) when in Terrain Mode via the active brake during throttle lift.     Does it have its limitations over a true 2 speed case?  Sure.  But it works.         
    • Of course actually engaging four wheel drive is step one or even daring to use a ramp like that with a two wheel drive and getting into a mess because of it. As to 4 low, these last few years if its a GM half ton it may not even have low range. A lot of the newer pickups have a lot lower first gear in an automatic transmission then they once did as it was common at one time for a gas engine truck or even the older diesels to just sit there and bog the engine due to the torque converter stall point and not enough torque was generated on reasonable traction to even spin a tire or get out of its own way up a steep grade and 4 low HAD to be used to get enough power to four tires to get them turning. These days traction control systems may hinder a vehicle in a situation like that although that means a tire or tires are spinning so in some ways the traction control can reduce wild spinning and anyone can correct me on that but I think some vehicles cut traction control off in low range ?.    By the sounds of it and you may have the proper equipment but if your responsible for helping vehicles out if they are not able to get out under their own power, I would say to be using a nylon tow rope or have one available so that one is able to give a bit of a run to help sling shot them some initial momentum as most tow straps are made out of polypropylene and impart way too much shock load if used to jerk a stuck vehicle into motion but are totally fine to use if going more from almost a dead pull with the tow vehicle and they are a lot less expensive to replace if damaged. That and some soft shackles to hook onto closed loop tow hooks on the truck your pulling as well as you having the proper shackle insert in your truck so there are no bad accidents with metal clevises joining things together or chain on the end of a tow rope or tow balls being hooked onto etc flying and causing damage or worse if it lets go. Its always a challenge pulling people because some are clueless and will over run the tow rope or strap and drive over it or that risk of ramming into the back of the tow vehicle so usually a few instructions are needed to clue in the driver of the stuck truck. TBN and ZDP levels matter. The one thing not covered was sufficient viscosity. Sad.     And yet we now have since API SN lower amount of them all with the only real change being a slight up tick in base oil selection. Along with lower concentrations of everything that makes oil work and lower and lower viscosity there is still an insistence on longer OCI's.    How low does the peanut butter and jelly level have to get before we say it's just white bread folded?    The new smoke and mirror treatment is the 'additives are INVISIBLE' to UOA testing with a health dose of TRUST ME.    I'm not picking on AMSOIL. This is coming from all of them. Every last one of them that abandon the low wear model in favor of the high mpg/EPA compliance model. 
    • First off use it in the way you’re more comfortable. In working in off road situations most of my life I used 4WD low range very little. In most cases when equipped I used auto 4WD. If I wanted maximum control going up and down very steep terrain  I used low range. Especially if I was driving a diesel. Same with very rutted terrain. In very muddy or snowy conditions I wanted momentum so high range worked well for that. With gravel ramps with limited traction I would try high range first. I would want smooth even increasing speed if I was fighting traction. Low range could give you too much to the wheels breaking traction trying to move. 
    • Having owned 4wd vehicle since the 1970s I find there are varying opinions on how to use 4wd, every owner is an expert in their minds.  IMO, 4LO is the appropriate gear and what I would use,  You have to feather the gas to avoid spinning tires and the lower the gear the better chance.  But like I said you will find those that think their method is best.  I live near a boat launch.  Yesterday there was a new Ford Maverick pulling out a pontoon boat almost 2x its size, they had no problems and they don't have a LO range.   True story. One winter day not long ago I was coming out of small town post office and there was a F150 4wd parked in front and was stuck foot deep snow ruts. I knew the lady so I asked her to put it in 4wd (wondering why in the middle of a 2-day snow storm she wasn't).  Her reply surprised me, "my husband" (the expert) told me not use that because it uses too much gas. She finally got unstuck spinning in 2wd which likely used more gas than not.
