^agreed I wouldn't use measurements between any driveline components and the body of the truck as a basis for things being lined up properly. Your driveline could be perfect and your bed could still be off kilter.

Has anyone else received letters from consumer legal services regarding this issue? It stated that several trucks have had issues and noted the Michigan lemon laws. I figured it was junk mail, but I decided to search the vibration issues and harsh shifting issues that the letter addressed. I came across this thread. I have a 2014 ltz 5.3 4x4 double cab. Truck was basically everything I want in a truck. Currently 6000 miles. No major vibrations yet, but I have noticed the occasional hard shift/clunk similar to when the rear dif started to fail on my 1997 ford explorer awd. Only other current complaints of mine include the high frequency noise I hear when depressing and releasing accelerator in awd; I have seen other forums on this issue. They claim quietest cab, but their own electronics are very audible in my opinion; if you have sensitive hearing as I do. Does not do in 2wd. Second, gm needs to take a look at what ram does for their mirriors when it comes to dimming. My 2010 ram had full dimming mirrors for all three mirrors. Not just an insert in driver's mirror and non dimming on passenger side like this current truck. Third, better resolution back up camera. My 2015 mustang much better resolution. I realize minor issues but just felt like adding to the list. I will keep posted on vibration issues. Great truck for the price as long as i don't encounter these drive line issues. Only 36 mo. lease, so at least I will only be SOL for a few years if major issues arise. Thanks for reading.

Looks like my issue is about 95% resolved . after countless times at the dealership and multiple different dealerships they finally broke down and swapped the tires again .... ive had 6 new tires on this truck due to the goodyears being "defective" ...they put bridgestone tires on it this time like some denalis come with and its running pretty good now . drove it roughly 30 miles and smooth as can be around 73-85 mph . I believe if GM would stop using the junk goodyear tires and put something good on them this issue would be gone !

My truck is worse than before ;( still no resolution . They want me back to so vibration test but I was suppose to do it last time of course they dropped the ball

I will say it again. Goodyear tires that come with the truck are garbage. Even my Falken zies st05 305/40r22 had to have 3 tires replaced due to shaking at 40 and 70 mph. Finally got mine sorted after spending 200 bucks getting roadforce balancing by a qualified tech. 3 of my tires had a roadforce rating of 38lbs or higher go figure. Had a hell of a fight with Falkien but at the end of the day they replaced the tires and now all four roadforce under 15lbs and voila shaking and vibrations are gone. This has taken me over a year to resolve but at last this truck is smooth at all speeds. I am finally happy with my truck. Hopefully the rest of you guys having vibration/shaking get it sorted. Start with a good set of tires and find a qualified tech that knows how to use a road force balancer. My tech spent 3hrs the first time balancing and then another 2 hrs after recieving 3 new replacement tires.

That's understandable. I just found it interesting that there was that much of a difference between the two sides. Seems like with an automated assembly process and machines doing a chunk of the work everything would line up perfectly. And that also makes it seem like there'd be no vibration issues with em too and thats not the case.

So you can add my truck to the list of the ones that vibrate/shake. My does it at 70 mph and at 78 my center console is shaking so bad it shakes by pop and I can't open it without exploding. I have had my truck in once and they balanced the tires, the dealer I bought mine does not have anything to do with tires, so it went to a dedicated tire shop with a good reputation, so I feel somewhat comfortable that it was done right. But needless to say that it didn't help. I first noticed it about 6-8 months ago, but I thought that after a few tire rotations that I might be able to figure out what tire or tires where bad. Well after 4 oil changes and 4 tire rotations, it has been the same. My truck now has almost 30,000 miles on it now, so we will see how this goes. The service manager did say that this wouldn't be the first truck that have dealt with that vibrates and the tires was not the issue. It goes back in Monday for round 2.

My question is with guys that tires have fixed the issue, did you notice that if the tires were rotated the vibration was different? In the past if I had a bad tire in the front you would feel it in the steering wheel more, didn't know if anyone has noticed it.

My vibration was really bad between 72 and 80. This was from the beginning after a 1000 miles the tires (goodyear sra) were roadforced and the numbers were so high they replaced my tires with Michelins LT that I paid the differance between the two. When I test drove my truck it shook bad at about 45 an up the tire were flat spotted. After I drove it a few miles it smoothed out to a point of just a little vibration. Every since the new tires were put on its been smooth.

For those experiencing vibration, I trust the vibration is in both V4 and V8 mode, because it would be a waste of time to try to fix vibration that is only in v4 mode. V4 mode will definitely generate some vibration and the bottom line it - we are stuck with it. A V4 engine is inherently rough running. Counterbalancing can correct it, but then it would be horrible in V8 mode. So, GM has to balance it for one or the other, but not both. Since V8 mode is more important, that's where it gets balanced. Bottom line - if V4 mode vibrations are too bothersome, then a GM is not for you. Get a Ford Ecoboost. Not trying to be a smart ass, but that's an unfortunate characteristic of these Active Fuel Management engines. Alternately, get a programmer from the aftermarket and turn the AFM off.

 

 

 

  1. I'm SO glad it's not just me. Now let me say that I came out of a Honda Ridgeline that I ran flawlessly for 7 yrs. maintenance free. As my friends say I have graduated to a big boy truck. I have recently purchased a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 with the All Terrain package ( I have 750 miles on it). I have also noticed a slight vibration in the truck. In my opinion it feels like the shift points are off and it is in to high a gear. I have a feeling it has to do with the fuel management system that shuts off some of the cylinders. Once you put your foot into it, it goes away and runs perfect and smooth. I have owned several trucks throughout my lifetime when I had my own construction company. My trucks ranged from Fords and Chevy's to the Honda I just came out of. The reason I say all this is because I'm not a suit and tie suburban dad that just bought the truck to look cool. I bought it because I needed a bigger vehicle. I'm taking mine in tomorrow and I hope there is something they can do to fix the problem.

 

Ok so here is the update. I took my truck into the dealership and was there for about 20 minutes. What they are telling me is that the volt meter is not going to stay consistently on 14 volts like I was use to seeing. The new technology turns on and off the alternator as need for better fuel economy and battery life. As for the vibration it is due to the 6 speed tranny not the 4 speed. They are telling me it has a slight lag in the shifting so it doesn't ruin the drivetrain. I am now up to 1079 miles and still loving my ride. It will just take some getting use to and learning to drive it the way it needs to be driven.

Malfunction straight from the factory . Total mess up . They can't even fix the problem ! And then there are those on here working for Gm trying to deny . Like puppets on a string they all try to say the same thing ! But they are liars and there story slowly breaks down to nothing. Developin a publick webpage about my problem with the truck and poor treat from Gm.

Really hate to see you guys still having problems with your new GM/Chevy trucks. Wow, what a nightmare it was for me with my 2014silverado. Cracks me up when im away for a while and return only to see the same old things, tires, transmission, clunking noise, drive shafts, rear ends, ring in pinion gears, motor mount shimming, the list goes on and on, and i had everyone of those things replaced more than once. I think i remember the service department telling me one time that they had more than 15k in parts and labor invested in my truck, and that all started at 400 miles and ended at 3500 of which the dealership put almost 1k on road testing after repairs. Cracks me up how i could turn on the onstar on my cell and see them up and down the highway, day after day after day. I got to give my service department credit, they really tried to fix my noise/vibration issue, but to be honest, now looking back on it all, i dont think it could of been fixed. Oh, and the afm and the v4 to v8 excuse they give you guys, thats bs, i know and ive drove plenty of trucks with it, and its is not suposed to vibrate at all during these shifts. Maybe an occasional down shift while in 6th gear overdrive but never a shudder, or a vibration.

 

Hate to say it guys, but you can always go with another manufacturer. I didnt want to, but after 4 months of nothing but hating how my new and improved truck drove, im glad i did. Not going to mention what kind of truck i know drive, but i can tell you this. It doesnt clunk when i put it in gear, it doesnt have a metalic ping noise when i take off, it shifts like a 6speed should, it doesnt shake or vibrate on the highway, i could go on and on, but i wont. I might go back to chevy trucks after i drive the wheels off what i have now, but its unlikely.

 

Good luck guys, dont take no for a answer.

Anyone have any ideas how to speed up the dealership? I have a shake at 70-80 and they say they've never had one with this issue. I see a lot of people getting new tires or drive lines. How can I speed up the process of new tires as I know they will want to mess with everything else first
