Hello all and good morning. I have a 2014 Silverado and successfully got a buy back from GM. When I first noticed the vibration around 40 to 50 miles per hour I went through the whole Ranger of going back to the dealership Time After Time. After five sets of new tires, all different brands, new differential and other stuff I finally decided to cut my losses. I contacted the 800 number and then GM owners manual and I opened a case with the customer care Department. Now while they proved to be quite useless, it helped my case. I've been contacted the Better Business Bureau Auto line division. This was an absolute lifesaver. Within a week they had a buyback deal on the table with GM. The arbitrator at Better Business Bureau didn't like that deal so she fought for two weeks for an exceptional deal. I accepted the buy back because I did not want to go to mediation in court. I also have filed a certified letter with the attorney general that's part of the process in Florida. I only owned my truck for about 3 months and in that time I successfully got the buyback, but the deal was that I had to buy any GM vehicle from that dealership. My truck was labeled a lemon and it was shipped back good Michigan. The dealership didn't want any part of it. I opted to get a GMC Acadia after much research on consumer reports. It's very disheartening because I've had Chevy trucks for 12 years but I think I'm done with them. At least until after 2019 from what I've read on this form. To help with the buyback I kept very very detailed notes every invoice every conversation date time. I had to fax all of this information to the arbitrator at Better Business Bureau. And because there was so many invoices and so many phone calls and so many phone records it assisted in me getting the buy back super fast. I'll mention it again, I live in South Florida. I'm just reposting this for anyone who wasn't on this form back in March or April of 2015.

They gave me back exactly what I paid minus a usage fee ....then I just paid th msrp to msrp sle to slt difference on my 16....

I'm to be refusing to pay the usage fee regardless, I first brought my truck in with roughly 380 miles for the vibration and radio and nothing was fixed. If I have to, I'll use my fraud case as a bargaining chip. There is absolutely no way I will pay them for the use of this POS truck

To be honest the formula for the fee was kind of high but I got them to split it or I said I would lemon the truck, then they cant resell it as " certified preowned "

Well, I'm going to keep this brief, I heard back from GM today, they are saying my truck is operating as designed and won't do anything. I've contacted another attorney, separate from the class action attorney, and will be filing lemon law.

At this point, I don't know which I will go with, all three have positives and negatives.

RAM:

+ great audio system

+ best FE in the 1/2 ton segment

+ drive lines have been great as of late

+ great riding truck

- I hate the amount of flex in the black paint (incase anyone doesn't know what flex is, it is metallic pieces in the paint, think of sparkles that kids use)

- again with the paint, they use a black pearl... it just has an odd look in my opinion

- Not the biggest fan of the rims they utilize, but I can always replace those

- The truck says RAM or have the RAM logo EVERYWHERE

FORD:

+ Workhorse of a truck

+ lots of great features and a pretty good audio system

+ black paint is good looking

+ pretty good looking rims

+/- Rides more like a truck than GM... unsure about this

- have had reports of vibrations issues as of late

- have had some issues with paint adhering to the aluminum panels

- were having issues with the left side cylinder heads (This was fixed if I remember correctly)

TOYOTA:

+ tried and true drive train

+ has serious balls for towing

+ fairly good JBL audio system

- worst fuel economy in the 1/2 ton segment

- body style is a bit round for my liking

Another big positive for the Ram, it still has port injection not direct injection. So no severe carbon buildup on the valves as with the GDI. I'm happy with my Ram. Superior ride quality, great interior on the upper trim, better materials. I've had two problems with it and they were actually fixed at the dealership. Did not hear "functions as designed" or "that's normal". Just fixed no fuss no muss. But I agree with the emblem overboard on it. They REALLY want you to know it's a Ram. The Ford 5.0 is still port injection but From everything I've heard, their EcoBoost GDI engines are grossly over estimated for fuel mileage.

they are, I've driven a few of them, its eco or boost, not both... and its hard to maintain the eco

Has anyone here actually spent some time working on their trucks to find the issue for the vibration? If you look at the leaf springs, GM put blocks in the rear of these trucks, I'm guessing which is why they have so much rake, and probably helps with payload. I had a Tacoma a couple years ago that I lifted, and used blocks in the rear end, but the blocks in that lift kit were angled, and they came with shims to further angle the rear axle up or down to keep the driveline in line. I know there were low speed vibes (10 or lower) with my Tacoma that were caused by the lift - the vibes were corrected by using a carrier bearing drop kit, to keep the 2 piece driveshaft straight, and not at a weird angle. Basically, I'm wondering if shims or a custom driveshaft would solve our issues. There are only so many things it could be, and I really like my truck BESIDES this frigging vibration. If I could fix it myself, I'd rather just drive out my lease instead of losing a shitload of money on trading it in, or having them mock me with their retarded buy back offers...

GM says they are sorry---why not do something about the problem.

They're still shipping 2016 trucks with the same problem. My dealer ordered me a new 2016 truck that was just as bad as my 2015. I have the truck I want --just fix it. "Looking"for a lawyer who will take on GM for triple damages.

Truely--I can't believe GM is covering this up--it's a bigger problem than I thought.

I'm in talks with a firm in Pennsylvania now, They are a good sized class action firm, they normally don't handle Lemon Law cases, but I hoping they take mine, they they can do whatever they want with the information for a CA. anyone who has had a buyback, can you please message me so I can get a copy of your documents, (assuming you can legally send them to me) I want to be able to send them as much info as I can.

I haven't been on here for several months and wanted to check in. I am really disappointed seeing that the vibration issue still has not been addressed by GM. I am very thankful that they were able to fix mine to the point where I don't notice it anymore. (I don't think it is totally gone it is 98-99% fixed)

I have had a whole list of other issues, such as drivers seat frame fixed and replaced, radiator replaced, oilpan gasket, rear shocks, front diff rebuilt, rear diff rebuilt and almost two full sets of new tires and one 20" polished wheel.

Three other issues I have noticed. The infotainment system locks up and have had it bounce between two screens. After I reboot ie restart the truck it works again.

I have also had the anti theft screen come up and has not allowed me to start the truck about 6 times.

The last issue is that I swear I smell coolant in the cab sometimes. They already replaced the radiator, my bet the heater core is cracked or something.

They got the vibration fixed at 25,000 miles and replaced all 4 tires at that point. I also got an extended full warranty until 70,000 miles.

The truck has 36,xxx miles on it and would not buy another 1/2 ton GM until this fix this issue. What a pain in the butt.

I wouldn't know where to turn. I have always been a GM guy. Part of me wished I would have done a HD2500 or F250 with the Diesel at this point. However I would have spent another $7500.

If I keep having issues there is no way I am keeping this past 70,000 miles. I am not paying for this out of pocket for repairs such as infotainment and such.

I had a slight vibration since new, but not enough to bother me. My truck sits parked for extended periods and it sat parked before I took it home from dealer. I checked it off as flat spots. After installing a level kit with different directional rear axle blocks, the vibration frequency changed for the better. Still a very slight vibration, but better. I have since replaced tires (aggressive) and the little vibration there still was seems to be masked by the slightly louder tire noise and feel. There may be something to this angle idea? One thing to add. I never tried to glide in neutral or switch between 2 and 4WD.

I'm thinking that shims should fix the issue - we just need to know how to line the driveline up perfectly and get someone to test it.

Maybe they have a new resale category called "certified lemoned".
