Got a recall notice in the mail yesterday. Nothing to do with shake or vibration. Just curious if anyone else got it. GM recall # 16007. Concerns module which controls airbag and pretensioner deployment. Solution is to reprogram SDM with new software. Have an appointment this Friday am. Just curious if any others got this notice. Btw, I drive a 2015 Silverado LTZ CC 6.2L/8 spd 4x4.

Yes, came out last month. I received an OnStar notification, email and letter.

I understand, I didn't say it did! I am simply telling the forum what i changed on MY truck and now i have the shake. I do not have a shake anything like what most people are stating its more of a vibration and sound. When my truck was stock i had no shake or vibration. After the lift I do. So i know i didn't bend the driveshaft in the process. Also i have the 2 piece drive shaft which is a completely different setup and its steel not aluminum like yours.

My drive shaft is steel also.

So I delivered my '16 Silverado Z71 to the dealer this AM, 2nd visit to the dealer for the "shakes". Young guy from the service dept just called and says truck is ready to be picked up. He said a tech and service manager both drove the truck, and both experienced the shake. He said it was determined the shake is caused by the tire treads, and there is nothing they can do about it. I asked why nothing can be done. Guy says there's nothing they can do about the tire treads, and I can speak with the service manager when I come in to pick up the truck.

 

What are these guys trying to pull here? Are tires now supposed to cause a vehicle to shake/vibrate, and that's now part of the purchase agreement?? I'm pissed to the point now, that I have the fk'n shakes such that it's difficult to type this!! Am I gonna be told that I'm supposed to accept the tires, and the shakes?

 

Sorry for the rant fella's but I'm pissed... Think I gotta calm down some before I go to pick up my $45K vibrator :o(

 

Oh... any advice on this would be muchly appreciated.... thanks

Yes, came out last month. I received an OnStar notification, email and letter.

Had mine done Saturday. Takes about a half hour. Just a reprogram to the computer.

had mine done before the dealer even knew about it :crackup: . found out about it here back in august or September. I don't even remember with everything thats been happening.

I have 2 recalls on my truck. MFing ratchet azz tires too. So let me get this straight. My tires will cause me to have a wreck and at that time my airbags might not deploy. WELL fk me up and down the street then. Why even have this truck? It intends to kill me. Thank you GM. FMFFS

Thankfully I got rid of the tires about 2 weeks ago. Bought a set of Cooper Discoverer ATP 275/60r20 and DT gave me credit for the Continentals. And for all of you who have crappy leaf springs, there is a TSB for that too. They don't lube them anymore, they replace because those are defective too.

Newb here, joined just to join this thread.

 

2016 Sierra Denali short box. 5.3L

 

Noticed a vibration with 26 miles on it taking it off the lot. Dealer said flat spots on tires and give them a couple hundred miles. 75-80 MPH is the worst. Definitely feels like wheel frequency, not driveshaft. I've had bad U joints before and know what driveshaft vibration frequency feels like.

 

First visit, 600 miles, replaced 2 tires and rotated a third on the rim. Definite improvement.

 

Second visit, 3000 miles, they said one of the rears they put on as a replacement went bad.

 

Third visit, 6500 miles, different dealer this time. Manager takes it for a drive and finds vibration. They road force test all four tires, and they're all single digits. Re-mount and "no vibration detected. Operating within spec."

 

Third visit was today. I'm not optimistic the problem is fixed. Will know more tomorrow.

 

If there's a fourth visit and it's not fixed, WI lemon law kicks in and I'm going after GM.

 

I really really love lots about my Denali, but I really really miss my Titan for other stuff. Never had any mysteries with that one...

 

So you guys chasing shocks/struts, that's probably not it. Magnetic ride has the same issue.

I can say that the denalis I've driven are substantially better than my current truck (Silverado LT), it is still there but to a much lesser degree. The replacement truck I'm getting is a 2017 Denali specifically because it is better than the ones with the standard suspension

How many miles are on the Truck and what did they try on the first visit? Because the majority of folks who brought their Trucks in had some kind of Balancing and eventually a new tire(s)... Some have had multiple FULL sets replaced all under warranty... Most dealers play with the tires as a first shot and these guys won't do ANYTHING?... I would take it to another dealer if possible..

So is there anyone here with a crew cab and 6.5' standard bed 2wd? this is the only model with the 2 piece drive shaft. Reson i ask is that it is a much different setup from a single piece driveshaft and it still has the vibration. Not as bad as some videos posted but its there.

Thanks for that link Jesse D. I'm keeping a file on my shake related issues and info on that link will be included.

 

Yesterday the service dept gave me the "it's the tires" story. Could be bad tires I guess... I dunno. Just over 1500 miles on the truck now, and service manager says drive truck to 2500 miles and call if the vibes still exist. Service manager told me the tread pattern on the Bridgestone A/Ts is aggressive and the lugs are causing the vibes. We discussed that for a bit, and we agreed to disagree. I'm sure he knows the tread pattern has absolutely nothing to do with the vibes, but he has a job to do. His job is to wear ya down and hope ya go away... not gonna happen.

 

Anyways, SM said at 2500 miles the service dept. will switch tires/wheels from another truck to see if there's an improvement. Would be nice if shit tires is all it is, but I'm not real optimistic about that.

 

So until I hit the 2500 mile mark guess I'll just keep an eye open for the TSB on the shakes LOL
