b1gted, I went to have them look at the seat today and they are going to replace the entire seat bracket (similar to your situation). However, they said I could have a bracket installed by Tuesday/Wed of next week. I am not sure whether I should believe it or not that they will get the bracket in that time due to your prolonged waiting...

The service advisor was very limited in his words and none of them gave me screaming confidence that it will be here next week.

Keep me posted on what you find out. Thanks for the heads up.

I bought my LTZ in July and have noticed it pretty much from day one although it feels like its getting a little worse (or more sloppy) over the past couple weeks. I have about 1600 miles so far and wasnt sure if it was the seat cushion. As much as i try to replicate the movement manually, i cannot and it only does it during cornering and braking/acceleration, but it is extremely aggrevating. Now that i know i'm not the only one, i'll try to find time to take it the dealership and start the process. (Also the rear tailgate has never opened or latched properly, (since it was on the lot new) but who has time to keep taking their new vehicle in for service), so i'll probably just keep slamming the dang thing to get it to close fully until i take vacation to get it fixed. I had taken it in once and was told they agreed it was bad, but couldnt adjust it and it needed time in thier "body shop" to investigate further?

I too got a new seat frame and it fixed the issue. And, those of you that don't have time, just get a loaner. It should be free with warranty issues

Can anyone that had the actual seat frame replace, can you post a copy of the work order?

Hey there,

I do apologize for the delay in responding. I have checked your case notes. Your agent is continuing to work with your dealership and I am reaching out to some of my internal resources to see if I can answer all your question regarding resolving your moving seat issue.

Thank you for your patience,

Any updates? My dealer said seat adjuster needs replaced, but several other people have stated they got an entire new seat frame and it fixed the issue? Is this an option? I mean, what is my dealer waiting on? I know it only been about 10 days, but My seat is terrible and moves so much that I am starting to regret my purchase of a first year design change. If it wasn't the seat I sit in every time I drive it, I might be a little more patient, but when I read that other people are getting theirs fixed with a seat frame replacement, and I was only told that they ordered a seat adjuster that is back ordered........

Seat frame was replaced today at the dealer and it is like new again. All of the slop is gone and it feels nice and tight (so slop or slack in the seat). Haven't driven it too much yet, but so far so good (knock on wood).

b1gted, did you get your seat yet? My dealer ordered it and received it in less then a week. Sounds like your dealer may be confused or jerking you around...

No. My dealer ordered a seat adjuster. Not the frame. Not sure wtf the deal is. I can't believe there isn't a database telling them common problems seen and what to do about it. I haven't heard from them or anyone about it yet.

Hey fellas,

My 14 SIlverado, with the 40-20-40, electric front bucket, is also developing identical "movement" or clunking issues that you are desribing. the movement started slighty at about 10, 000k and now my truck is at 13, 000 and it's definitely more noticeable. Is there a known fix for this?

Mine just started this as well.. I have an LT with power bucket seats. If i go over a speed bump it feels like the seat is going to launch me into the passenger side.

My dealership fixed mine. Ordered a new seat frame from what they said. Now mine is moving again and I'll be back to the dealership.

Let me know what comes of your secind trip back after the seat frame was replaced. Mine is doing it agajn after the frame was replaced. It was good for a couple of days but then returned quickly.

So it sounds like this is not just an issue with bucket seats but also with the split bench. Does everykne have cloth seats with this occuring? All power seats I imagine?

Stealership called yesterday and said they were ordering a new seat frame again. I imagine this can't be good for the bottom line. Hopefully GMC will come out with a permanent fix soon.

K want to see the frame with the seat off to see if tere is an obvious reason for the slack in the framenthat can be fixed outside the dealer. I dont want to be replacing seats once a month.....

It seems there are enough people with the issue so I would tend to agree that this has to be on gm's radar by now

    • It seems fine because it pulls everything out of a hot engine. I’m not going to worry about a thimble full with 5K oil changes with synthetic oil. Every other oil change is at Honda they pull the plug. I watch them through the process. It turns out going to Honda what amounts to their normal oil change intervals.
    • I tried tapping it.  This might sound like a dumb question, you should feel vibration or some type of noise when it turns on? Can someone please verify? Thank you all!
    • I feel better now for my own view point and actions or lack there of towards the dealership service theme reading your post and others. GM corporate is who offers the two free oil changes on the HD trucks and I bought my truck in Feb of 2025 and those oil change offers run out within 2 years I believe and I highly doubt I will be using either one of them. I had asked if I could officially give those free services to another customer ( a friend ) and they said no, its all a GM corporate thing based on the vehicle in question. What that service advisor did however was go into a little story about how such and such customer was denied engine warranty because he had done his own oil changes because then they are not documented ... you see where that goes and so an employee playing the game of scaring the customer into having the service work done there most certainly triggered my thought process. At a later date I did talk to the person who handles warranty claims at the dealership and she said to be sure to document the oil changes and keep receipts for the oil and filter ( coped the receipts from cases of Mobil oil and case of filters I bought from them ) and the vehicles VIN, the date of service, mileage etc and staple that together as a record I would give them if that was ever needed and I keep my own log book for services for each vehicle as well. Oh and about 8 months after I bought the truck the dealer starts calling me to offer a maintenance service since they haven't seen my vehicle show up on their system ... for the mere fee of 300.00 Canadian to change the oil and rotate the tires and a few other minor checks and I declined the offer, I get the call again a couple of months later for the same thing and she could tell I was not interested and she asked if they should take my name off the call list and I said yes, do that !.    By the way did you happen to keep your factory oil filter to open it up and see the surprises inside as I expect some will show up as per the odd little sliver of metal shaving and particles that the filter does trap along with bits of grey silicone sealer that come off of the inside edge of mating surfaces. I have cut open every filter so far on my truck although few miles but have changed the oil often and the second filter was vastly better with very little of anything, that first filter was the unsettling one as I expected it would be.
    • I get why they do this…but man…not ideal. I only extract on inboard boat engines because the drains are buried and even then I hate it because it’s easy to leave a quart behind with that method.   They should market it as an “oil refresh” not oil change!
    • I only get oil changed where I can watch. Valvoline pulls through the dipstick into a see thru glass. When done they show me the dipstick. About the only way they can mess up is using the wrong oil. But that secret wouldn’t stay secret long. Honda uses TQ wrenches on everything. You can watch through a plate glass window. Discount tires does that with tires. Trust but verify.
