You really want the dealership to yank the cab and the box off plus dismantle everything to do this... I wouldn't. Unless they take your chassis and actually sandblast it or at minimum wire wheel the whole thing it's going to just do it again anyway lol. Hell if you are going that far pony up some money and have the frame stripped bare and powder coated. Seems like a waste of time and effort to have the same shitty tar blasted on it so it can just peel off again in a few years or less.

Not at all - I would prefer to get out of the truck altogether at this point but as of now this is all they are willing to do.

I am going to inspect the truck once it is "prepped" and if that point I don't like what I see they are going to have 2 options:

1) lots of unwanted media attention

2) new truck

I pride myself in taking care of my vehicles but it is hard to maintain something that is already too far gone... This is why I buy new so I make sure I have something that will last as I am willing to put the effort in on preventative maintenance...

I guess I am weird... I just clean mine up and repair it myself... I do a better job than they would ever be bothered with and no I am not taking the truck apart to do it lol. Different strokes I guess. Then again I refuse to let GM dealers touch the truck and have voided my warranty so it's not a concern of mine either lol.

Touching the frame up will not void any warranty except maybe the frame but if you keep it up it will never be an issue.

I do the same thing

Lol. Not remotely what I meant

.. my powertrain is not stock and I don't let dealer ass clowns near the truck. Pretty sure the cam, afm delete, blower and long tubes should finish off the warranty lol.

You're probably still better off anyhow. Lol!

What's the solution?

Chev won't do spray on rust protection to my '16, and I know the rust module will not help the frame at all. Kind of disappointed in their approach for tackling rust especially in a land of sea salt, snow, sand, and road salt....

I just returned from the dealer with PIO0564 version H in hand which covers 2016 vehicles for the same problem so they are obliged to fix it.

You can download TSB below.

Right now they have my cab and box removed and are using solvent to remove the wax and undercoating. Then following the steps listed in the TSB.

I did not want to have my truck disassembled but I figure if I follow their recommendation that my warranty will stay intact and any future issues will be corrected as required.

Round 2 of frame treatment complete. In several spots you can see rust around the edges. That will clearly work its way under the coating, again. It also looks so rough in spots, it's obvious they just sprayed over everything without stripping it. So there will very likely be a round 3 of this shit. Woohoo!

Not laughing at your matter...but this is almost comical.

The process really is a joke. Here's a recap:

2015 with 3000 miles - http://m.imgur.com/a/ctmp2

Warranty work round 1 - http://m.imgur.com/a/w5MEm

6 month later - http://m.imgur.com/a/nIPEJ

Round 2 - http://m.imgur.com/a/IpoEI

Hmmm wonder if I will ever buy a GM vehicle again..

Also, who wants to bet that there will be a round 3 and 4.. And 5.

I cant see them touching it again... they will just say deal with it (unfortunately)

GM repainted my bumpers only pending a 3m clear bra installation ($500 of my own money) and said they wouldn't warranty it any more going forward unless I went with that option.

So I went over a month and a half ago and the dealership keeps on telling me they are waiting for parts from gm. That they are missing 1 item from them. Has anyone else had this delay? I am starting to get annoyed.

I called them again today and they told me they got the final part on Friday. So I'm ready for them to do their work. I hope it comes out alright. Thanks.

    • Just buy the tube and move on with life.
    • Glad that worked, and in this case that is all on Autel for somehow dropping the ball for not updating the GMC section properly.    I believe in the basic section or unless it is in the advanced, when one does a check of lets say individual sensors for what the pressure is ( and it shows a temperature as well ) , I think it picks up on what the model number of the sensor is in a certain section where you choose "OE" sensor or at least mine is telling me what the model number is and matches to what they actually are and that is the number I quoted in a prior post.    I don't recall now if I had said prior that I discovered with my truck anyway that no matter how low I set the placard pressure for the rear tires, if the physical pressure is under 35 psi and I drive it for about 15 miles the pressure warning will come on for one or both rear tires. I am speculating that there is something else in the trucks system that over rides the placard pressure setting once it drops below that minimum pressure to run a metric LT tire at. The weird thing is it does not trigger right away after driving a shorter distance, it took that longer drive for it to trigger. Just something to keep in mind if you were experimenting with pressures below 35 pounds for a tire designed for lower pressures ( larger than stock floatation series tires ) and not being overloaded of course.
    • I've seen a scant few YT vids on them, but it's always in a performance application.
    • No clue. Service advisor said he'd call me this morning, which I'm 99% sure won't happen. They had the truck 5 days, and I didn't hear a peep. Finally had to call them yesterday. I guess they'd be content to just let the truck sit in perpetuity.
    • I had a little bit of time before I left for work this morning, so I plugged the scanner back in, and I selected Chevrolet Silverado instead of GMC Sierra, and the very first option was for a 2026 so I selected that one and I seen at the bottom it had the option for psi change unlike in the 2026 GMC Sierra, I selected that option and it took a little longer than the usual vehicle not supported, and sure enough I got into it, and it let my change the psi values.. I no longer have the low psi warning light!   Thank you for recommending me to try it under Chevrolet instead! I can confirm this device does work for a 2026 GMC Sierra 2500 hd 6.6 diesel  just have to select Chevrolet Silverado instead of GMC Sierra.   Maybe I'll contact Autel and let them know of that issue and maybe they will fix it for the GMC option  because some people probably return the scanner due to it not working under GMC Sierra.
