Sorry everyone I've been away for awhile. My dealership said they are going to re coat the frame free of cost. They said they have to order the kit that comes from gm. They said they will call me back in two weeks and it has been two weeks. How does it usually take for gm to ship parts and stuff to the dealer

I have a 2014 Yukon Denali that I bought new in August 2013.

After about a month I started seeing rust on my concrete driveway.

I put the truck on the lift in my garage and found the entire frame rusting away.

(1000 miles on it)

I took it to the dealer they cleaned and sprayed it with black paint.

I now see rust on parts on the engine, shock towers, front suspension and the paint is coming off the frame and rusting again.

This is BS you spend $74,000 for a truck and its rusting away and ruining my driveway.

I brought the truck back to the dealer today for that and other problems.

I told the service Manager I want an answer from GM what they are going to do about it.

He said all cars rust I said bull my wife's caddy is not rusted or the corvettes.

We just traded a 2006 Chry 300 no rust, we gave to my son for work a 02 MC SS and none are rusting.

We will see what GM says probably nothing, I've have to write to Detroit.

Anyone else having the problems should post here so we can get the General to do something.

I had my 2014 Silverado undercoated by the dealership and it was covered under warranty, but it looks like they used an aerosol over a brush. Has anyone has had there dealership apply the undercoating with the aerosol but get it all over the spare tire and exhaust, don't know if I should get the dealership to clean it so I don't smell it in the cab

Yep mine was aerosol too and some got on the exhaust. I put up with the smell for about 2 months (only bad the first couple weeks). I don't smell it at all anymore. It is actually holding up really well. After this first winter I will go back in though and have them touch up any areas that didn't stick.

Well proof my home-made repairs are holding WAY better than the dealer fixes. I now have 35k on the truck and it's been about 12-13 months since I sprayed my framed. No rust. Looks great. Again, $5 from Home Depot for a can of flat black Rustoleum enamel, sand paper, de-waxer/prep fluid + 2 coats and you're golden kids. Dealers are parts changers. I'm currently restoring a 89 K5 GMC Jimmy (AKA Full size blazer) and the frame has no rust. Just 3 spots on the body. Something tells me if you don't treat your '14's frame ASAP in 27yrs it won't look good.

Your first mistake is thinking anything made after 1990 will realistically last 27 years.

I had them add the lifetime warranty'd undercoating and panel rust protection to my 2016. once a year i return for touch ups. It is warranted against perforation. If it perforates they replace the affected part. the company that does it should have a good rep too. I had it on my exhaust, lacquer thinner took care of it in no time

 

 

My 2008 sierra was no-drip oil coated every year and i sold it with next to no rust after 240,000 miles. And we like to use salt on our roads here.

 

I also frequent automatic car washes with the under body spray too. it helps

My '15 All Terrain is at the dealer now getting the TSB repair done. They r taking the box off and I told them I want pictures of the whole process. They even told me they r gonna get it under coated for my troubles. See what in a few days. So far the woman I spoke with at gm is all for this and she is the one who pushed for it.

I have a 2015 sierra double cab that has less than 800 miles on it. I fluid filmed it a couple weeks ago, now the wax coating is bubbling in a lot of areas and peeling in a few. Is this pure coincidence or is the fluid film actually lifting the factory wax coating? (or is this just a case of poor prep before the wax coating) What are my options as far as a "fix" is concerned? Obviously having bare metal showing on your frame in the salt-ridden northeast is no bueno. I can post pictures if need be. Thanks! :cheers:

I'd post some pictures. If the wax coating is peeling off the frame I suspect the issue originated from the factory. If so, dealer will have to strip the whole frame and recoat under a TSB.

So I have a 2014 silverado and wondering about the black plugs on rockers so I popped few out and notice build up of dust/fine dirt and wondering after i take air compressor to blow out if I can put hose up to plug hole to raise out....worried since my 2005 silverado rockers rusted out and had to repair them and don't want to have to do with this model. Any help is appreciated, and what everyone else is doing to prevent rust issues.
