Wow the e force will only cost you about 9k and for another 750 you can get a 5 yr 100k warranty.

Also if you go with ebrock you get a much better inter cooler. The jury is still out as to who has better performance but cooler air always makes more power.

Hennessey only warranties what's they touch for 3/36k but they claim gm will honor the original warranty. Don't know if I believe that or not.

I just looked at the brochure, did you read the fine print? 93 octane! Wonder what the output is with 91

In respect to the 5.3, how about E 85? Im getting a headache already.

I don't know this for sure but I bet with the SC your no longer able to run e 85. That requires 33% more fuel on a stock fuel pump with a blower I bet your already using 33% more gas as it is! I kinda doubt the factory pump can Handel that much flow. But I could be wrong.

I would assume if you could they would have and advertised those numbers

I'm liking that talk guys and that was a great explanation, but I have another question pertaining to what I first asked. What of I were to only build the top of my 5.3L like cam, heads, springs, valves, intake, headers, exhaust? Would I make good power but still not even come close to a turbo'd one? Would kind of torque could I be looking at and what price for just the top?

If your goal is a 10 second truck, no. For that you are going to need an engine swap and forced induction. If your goal is to just be faster than you already are, you can go that way. For drag racing purposes, it will be a lot of work using a brand new truck.

I had a guy who worked for me who could get pretty close just on the top end in LS Camaros. If your not afraid of spraying I wouldn't say no. My brother does 11s with a 79 little red express truck with spray. The only reason he stops there he doesn't want to put a roll bar in. Its a mild 440 no less same build for 13 years.

Short of a supercharger/turbo, running E85 will get you the best bang for the buck.

Or for the kind of dough you're talking about, you could probably drop in a 6.2L. It would be much more drivable on the street than all those other mods. I don't know what kind of track times you'll get, but it'll be fast. Look for a used one from a totalled truck to get a good deal.

I'm getting edelbrocks 5 year 100k warranty and my sc is only costing me 2500 bucks!

yes maybe but...the Hennessy packages include much more than just a SC as they address/include cooling, exhaust, braking system upgrades and many other additional components in their packages which are all tried, track tested, engineered and proven to work together to ensure sustainable performance for the long (and very fast) haul!

Equally, its easy to beat down the cost when considering individual component upgrades but when added up come close to the same not to mention the quality and expertise when taking the 1-stop shop approach that again has the backing of a reputation that only a few shops like Hennessy enjoy (and one such that vehicle manufacturer's have acknowledged)!!

A quick look see at their website provides a testament to their capability that includes some of the most exotic and highly regarded automobiles in the consumer market arena not to mention the professional ranks of racing and stands to reason why owners from all over the world ship their prized automobiles to Hennessy down in Texas for their performance upgrades.

Oh yes I forgot to mention the fact they include their name plate and custom floor mats name plate ect..

Personally I think they got a good thing going, you pay all that extra money to have their name plastered all over your car. I think that's what drives the cost up and their reputation just like so many companies who charge a premium for their name.

But apparently there are enough people willing to pay the price or they wouldn't be in business.

I'm not saying they are doing anything bad, but from a value standpoint I think your paying for a lot of fluff and perception of a name.

When you get right down to it. All the players have a similar product. All that are mentioned here offer a warranty but the cost difference is noteworthy. So much so that I couldn't justify the cost difference just to have the same performance but some company's name plastered all over my car

Hennessey is hands down the most expensive...

Lingenfelter is $9995 to start for my vehicle... I'll bet the out the door price would be closer to $15K when done including shipping the vehicle to site and back.

The eforce solution may be the cheapest but after the upsales and cost for the 6.2L and installation I bet they are still int he $12-14K range.

Bottom line there is no way for me to find an under $10K solution should I chose this route... the decision comes down to who do I trust most with my $60K truck.

For now I will wait and see how satisfied I am with the BBP tune... I am moving to Texas for work next month and will be closer to a Hennessey site to go and talk with them in person. I am exchanging email with Lingenfelter... to be continued.

i think you can drive it to their facility and fly 2 1 way tickets and drive back like i am doing for well less than 600 bucks

also i believe LPE already has packages listed for around 10 k with the e force installed.

So that link is from a build by New Era Performance on a 2012 4wd RCSB Silverado. 10s. Actually I don't know what is best time was but he dynoed over 600 to the wheels.

Whipple, injectors fule system upgrades, cam (DOD delete) other bolt ons. IIRC, it was still stock converter and stock exhaust past the y-pipe.

Should be alot easier with the GenV.

Great build thread to read.

It was still in the 11's actually, 11.9 11.8 @ 118-119 mph. If it hooked I dont know what it would do, but from a 50mph roll, it runs right with my Camaro which runs 10.8's at 126mph. Time will tell, next year sometime hopefully.
