Why does the first picture look like the front wheels have one going left and the other straight?

that is one old setup..

panhard bar included.

king pins...

oh my.

dodge really got the parts bin out from 1947 didn't they.

I was just boasting of torsion suspension on my 1996...80mph on angled snow filled terrain.

Just replaced a pancaked 1.125 inch set of oem balljoints from moog...could have been 350k miles on them.

Come on dodge. Lets play offroad. :)

First, I don't see how a Tacoma TRD is more capable. Front and rear lockers, winch, auto disconnect sway bar and solid front axle.....vs a lighter truck with just a rear locker. The best off road trucks are built, not bought- GM, Ford, Dodge, Yota....doesn't matter. Everything comes with a price tag too. It's clear that GM has favored the refined "luxury" crowd over the take your truck down a boulder trail crowd. But to me, it's easier to make your refined truck more off-road worthy than to refine a truck that never had it. Just my 2 cents.

Take Silverado/Sierra with current 6.2 and design suspension (King shocks) and fenders to accommodate 35" tires. Done. Awesomeness.

You do realize this is an HD platform, not a 1/2 ton right? Solid axles & an electric disconnecting front swaybar & factory winch - this isn't a truck w/ just a suspension hike (although it does have that from the factory along. W/ bilsteins) - they designed and engineered it- like the raptor. GM seems content to slap badges or lame aesthetic pieces on their stuff.

Another poster mentioned how weak GM is at marketing- take the Dodge charger for instance- so a many flavors and mass marketed, it's a cool looking sought after car. Sadly, GM makes a car to compete w/ it, and it's better- the Chevy SS problem is nobody even knows it exists and they'll probably axe it- plus there's no selection in options/trim level for it, and you can't get AWD on it like the charger.

And speaking of Holden (who happens to be the brains behind the SS & G8- and from whom GM pulled the last chassis that carried all their RwD cars) all GM would have to to make a splash is do something like bring the "Ute" over and offer it w/ turbo V6 all the way up to shoehorning the LS7 in it- offer a manual tranny, boom you have something unique and cool

Won't do it tho

Only gripe I have w/ this truck - and for the record when my '14 GMC got totaled my intention was to buy one- was that the engine is neutered compared to what it puts out in their other cars. This thing should have the 475hp version of the hemi it's so big.

FYI before you ask why it didn't come w/ the cummins- WAY too heavy to make any sense over the front wheels of what is supposed to be a legit off-road vehicle - would have required drastic modification from the factory.

Lastly- while dodge is notorious for chopping prices @ dealers and offering incentives- they wouldn't budge more than $2500 off this truck no matter where I went, and part of that probably has to do w/ me living in MA and there not being a big market for these trucks so they can afford to stay out on the few they have. One other thing- if you wanted to drop down to the tradesmen version of this truck & get all the mechanical goodies just giving up on the gadgets/luxury it comes w/ ridiculous graphics package- didn't like that either.

Graphics delete is available on the truck. I'd do that on the previous generation for sure. Just before I was ready to buy the Jeep they had $5k off these trucks. Too bad I wasn't quite ready to buy otherwise I would've made that jump.

Dodge cant build an on road truck that stays out of the shop why would we believe they could build an off road truck thats any better and to all you GM haters on this forum we dont change as much as the others because we are being chased not following..

Neither can GM. They got complacent being the top dog, and ended up getting bailed out with MY tax dollars.

Been a GM guy my entire life - they used to be great! Now the almighty dollar takes precedence over customer satisfaction, and it shows.

When I get the sense that a company is trying to steal from me, rather than build a decent product, EARN my business on merit, and give me MAXIMUM return on my hard-earned dollars, then I get a little pissed off.

21st century GM SUCKS. :sigh:

I have been nagging for years, GM needs to ditch the IFS in the HD trucks and go multi link coil sprung solid front axle.

Id take a Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi, or F250 6.2 gas in a heartbeat.

The Chevy 6.0 will still out pull the boat anchor in this Ram. The only thing that a SFA is better at than IFS is off road bashing, and even then you need some upgrades to make it hold up.
