It's not worth $40k. They've cheaped them out even MORE than in '07!

You’re out of your mind I’ve owned a 05 LT, 08 LTZ, 11 LT Dmax, 13 LT, and 17 LTZ and the 17 is superior in every aspect and it’s fully loaded and custom ordered and was only 50 OTD.

It had better be - it's brand new!

Talk to me in 5 years. Then you'll realize how much "better" these trucks are.

I only wish someone had talked me out of buying my '07. Biggest waste of money in my life. I bought it so I could concentrate on working on paying customer's vehicles, and not have to work on my own. Boy, was that a stupid decision.

At the end of the day, it's your money - you do with it what you wish. I'm just trying to get folks to see past the flashy interiors and shiny paint. To each his own.

I hate anything built after 1972 ... but since you brought it up, regarding the GMT400, they WERE some of the best trucks GM ever produced.

I sold my '94 K1500 to buy my '07 Silverado  - it had 266,000+ miles on it. You don't get those kinds of miles with poor engineering and cost cutting.

The driveline was as reliable as a stone ax. The suspension was another story ... but that can be fixed fairly easily in the aftermarket. Body was cheapout central - same as since the 70's. They rusted fast. They also didn't cost more than the average annual wage then.

My '07 has 94k on it. Started burning oil at 50k. The writing is on the wall. If I make it to 120k on the OE engine, I'll be doing damn good. That's just one problem in a long list ...

I had a 94 Yukon, and it was a piece of shit. The 4L60 was garbage too.

I don't think they'll ever make a truck as bad as the 07-13s again.  They didn't have any money then and wrte about to go bankrupt.

I wanted to let everyone know that I found out our truck was built this past Wednesday or Thursday. I have a vin but that's about it. The dealer doesn't even have an invoice for it yet.

Our timeline so far is then:

Ordered: May 17th

Build Week Assigned: June 4th

Loaded Into Factory Computers: July 30th

Built: August: 8th or 9th (I think?)

I had an 08' Vortec Max for 5 years. It was garage parked only had 50,000km's on it when I got rid of it but the wear on the truck was shocking. The trucks were relaible but the material quality was atrocious. My current 16' is light years ahead of the last generation. I use this one for work alomst everyday and at 74,000km's in a bit over 1.5 years there are no signs of wear on this truck. I can't imagine how bad my 08' would've looked under the same circumstances. Time will tell if I'm still happy with it when I turn it over at 160,000km but the previous genreation doesn't compare to this model very well at all.

I get I’m in the minority here. The last new truck I bought for work was a Texas Edition, nicely option for 27K in 12-31-13 @ 12K discount. The last car I bought was a Camry for 17K new last year 10K discount. Even though I can afford it I’ll never pay 50K for any vehicle let alone a truck.

I hear that. Me neither!

Before I bought the Silverado, the most I had ever spent on a car or truck was $4,500!

I've paid more for motorcycles.

I guess my question is, when are we going to be able to build these on the website? Louisville chevy dude already has 5 on his lot.
This is the first time I have seen the trucks hit lots before we can build them on the website. GM also has their driving impressions embargoed ( for media) until Monday the 13th but regular people can go test drive them now. Not sure what GM wad thinking here.

It's odd for sure.  I think the idea behind the embargo is to let all reviewer's get some good seat time and not feel rushed to have thr first review out.

I have seen it on other cars from GM.  They're at dealerships with no window stickers.  I assume the configuration page for the public will be online Monday.  In pretty excited overall.

I'd still be happy with a 16-18 Sierra SLT too, but I think I'll wait for a 19 Rado.

I just found out our LTZ was pulled aside for quality control. Not sure what that means but it might be a little longer to get it on the rail car.

Mine has been in transit from Roanoke Indiana to Fort Wayne Indiana for a week and a half.

Hoping for some advice on what I should be looking at.
    • The truck is a 1995 Chevrolet S10 Blazer, 4.3 VIN "W" engine. :cracks knuckles:   On a whim - because I needed a headache - this truck was for sale so I stopped to take a look. Doesn't run. Well, it does, but barely. Long crank, choppy idle, bad misfire(s), it REEKS of fuel. I can DO this..I'm thinking. Diamond in the rough. One owner until last year. A young guy is selling it, he bought it 6 months ago. It stranded him more than once, he's got a newborn. It was in the shop 10 days ago and he "thinks" they said it needs a new fuel injection system. He can't put any more money into it, needs it gone. I was thinking of upgrading my Macbook, which is a total want, not a need. For less than the price of a new laptop I can have fun for months tinkering on this truck and enjoying it. I'm taking this truck home. The guy was beyond thrilled, his wife was there, she thanked me profusely, I could tell they were hurting. They seemed like good people in a bind.   Some parts, a wash, maybe a set of tires, and I can have a few months of fun and then turn it for beer money (or the next project).   Sure enough, there's a work order from a shop last week in the INCHES of paperwork on this truck dating back to when the first owner bought it. They put a new distributor in it, fuel injection work describes basically opening the plenum and putting it back together. He said he couldn't afford any more work so he had them button it up and that's when he put it up for sale.   I'm not well versed in 4.3. I did discover 1995 uses the 1992-1995 SCPI "Spider" injector which is riddled with issues from splitting lines, clogged or cracked poppet valves and plastic spider legs that crumble over time. Cool. I'll just order me a ne---. Oh, the auto parts store doesn't have it? Rock Auto doesn't have it. eBay? $$$$$$ for used. These are UNAVAILABLE period end of story unless you know "a guy" who's still got one in a box somewhere.   Can't upgrade to the '96-'04 injector, it's a different plenum, wiring/pinout and sensor config.   There are a few kinda "know a guy" -guy rebuild services for these injectors out there for about $350. Okay, Okay... I'd like to know if anyone has used them? Anyone got a lead on these crappy 92-95 spiders?   I also don't want to send MY spider to Narnia and back without knowing if that's truly the problem. I guess I'll need to pull apart the plenum and do some digging.   I was also thrown for a loop. This 1995 model year truck has an OBD-II connector. The interface is decidedly not OBD-II. I can read and reset trouble codes and view live data, but there's not a lot of data. Like misfire count and on what cylinder, that's not there. It's OBD-1.5.   Nothing is ever easy. Now it makes sense why this guy wanted to disappear this thing for cheap. I'm guessing the shop told him the injector is toast, the part is unobtainable and they're not going to sort sending the thing to a rando offering rebuild service on craigslist, and the kid likely can't be without a working car for 3 weeks even if they'd facilitate that.   Experience with these early SCPI's? Stories? Things to check? Sympathy? (..Nah...)   This can sit until I sort it. But I haven't had a problem with a vehicle I couldn't easily solve in a long time.
