I'm going to guess there is a $1500 coupon he would lose after the 2nd. That's that was the last day to redeem. I would have done the same thing

Ok, that would make sense then, if it was to save money I’d probably have done the same.

That was exactly the same reason I did that: $1500 (GM) + $700 (costco) + $700 (on top of $4500 dealer's discount). Total saving:$7400 off of $56,815 (MSRP). It shouldn't be bad ?

Anybody know pros and cons from different plants. Warm weather versus cold, salt and so on.

Just found this out.

"The vehicle has been turned over to the carrier and is in transit from the plant to a distribution center. We are unable to provide any estimates or ETAs, but this process can take time. I would encourage you to contact the selling dealership, as they will be in the best position to assist you with more specific updates at this time. Your VIN is available with the dealership. I appreciate you taking the time to chat in with us and allowing me the opportunity to assist you today. Is there anything else that I can do to assist you with further or do you have any additional questions for me?"

They also said it was made in Ft Wayne.

I contacted my dealer and they do not have an ETA.

Well, they are on an open car carrier so if it is a nasty salty road, they will get splashed on for sure.  I'm hoping this isn't the case but it can't be helped.  It is what you get when you order a vehicle in the winter time.  Just hope mine is on the top rack in the middle.  LOL

It's no so much the paint, but all the nooks and crannies beneath and in between body panels. Anything salt touched that isn't thoroughly rinsed off will rust, and FAST. That crap just starts the trip to the scrapyard sooner.

Friggin HATE salt! I'm out THOUSANDS of dollars from it over the years ...

A little exaggeration. I live in Canada and they use salt, and liquid calcium on the roads here. Still takes over 5-6 years to get rust through. Plus salt doesn’t activate when temp are colder than -10. I think you guys will be ok

The wheels for my truck showed showed up at my dealership on 1/9/19 - (Premium Package Wheels)

The trucks ship with black stamped steel wheels from the factory and the dealer installs the Premium Package wheels.

I would say you're correct 20 years ago - not so today. These things will rust so fast it'll make your head spin. I'm not talking about the body - that can be repaired.  If I didn't start oiling my Silverado that I hardly drive back in '10 when it was 3 years old, there would've been nothing left of the undercarriage - once that rusts, the vehicle is going to the scrap heap, regardless of how pretty the paint is.

I'll also guarantee you that MA throws more road salt down in a single storm than you guys get all year up there. I was in the city 3 weeks ago, temps in the mid 40's (fahrenheit), and the roads were PURE WHITE with brine, and piles of rock salt all along the shoulder, and in the center of each lane where the wheels don't touch.

    • This video may not be the exact content for the joke thread but its a lot of laughs so here it is, I've only watched a portion of it so far but if anyone is looking for some light hearted good soap box driving action, its here. As a note in the upper left of the screen it shows the number out of 100 to refer back to any particular vehicle for comment !.    https://www.facebook.com/reel/1351928276956715
    • Did have to make 1 modification because of the WeatherTech rear mud flaps and that was needing 3 longer screws than what came with the install package. 😄
    • Picked up the liners yesterday. Installed passenger side WITHOUT any modifications. All mounting holes lined up perfectly. Rain is interfering today with drivers side. Very Happy! Will add pics when finished
    • As a matter of amusement I’ll leave this conversation with this. Do you beat the government average fuel estimate? Statistics are a guide to me. Not a rule. Someone once said I have to have the last word. If true and possible may be. I’ll blame that on working in a family business.
    • That is a fair point, and I agree that trying to log “everything in the truck” would be the wrong direction.   There are a lot of modules and a lot of traffic. If the product became a full-truck datalogger, the amount of data would get huge very quickly, and most owners would never use it.   I think the first useful version would need to be narrow: - powertrain-side event evidence - selected high-value parameters - communication / voltage / reset events - pre/post event window - short report first, raw log only as backup   One distinction I should make is between active OBD/PID polling and passive bus capture. If you are polling PIDs through OBD, then yes: the more parameters you request, the lower the effective sample rate becomes, and you are adding diagnostic traffic to a vehicle that is already busy running itself. With passive CAN capture, the recorder is not asking all the modules for data. It is listening to traffic that is already on the bus. So it does not consume vehicle bus bandwidth in the same way that a scan tool polling hundreds of PIDs would. But your point still applies in a different way.   Even if passive capture does not add bus traffic, the recorder still has limits: - processing rate - storage rate - timestamp accuracy - decoder workload - event filtering - report size - user attention span   So the answer cannot be “log everything and let the user figure it out.” The product would need to store enough raw evidence to be useful, but only decode, graph, and present the important parts around the event.   A practical report should probably show: - what triggered the capture - how much pre/post data was preserved - which selected parameters changed - how those values compared to baseline - whether the same pattern happened before - whether any voltage, reset, bus-off, lost-message, or communication fault occurred - selected graphs around the event - raw data only as supporting evidence   So I agree with you. More data is not automatically better. The real product is the reduction from raw data into a useful event report.
